I have been with Gateway for over 40 years, since the have become a bank, I have numerous transactions double and scheduled payments not made and even deleted. Was once told it was me that was doing it. Last experience, I was told they would look into it and kept informed. I have heard nothing from them. Enough is enough, these experiences have happened to many times and nothing has changed. Strongly suggest not to go with them.
Great Personal Service – I've recently been dealing with a guy named Ronald at Gateway for the purpose of refinancing a commercial loan. I have found him to be extremely approachable and very friendly/pleasant. I understand completely Gateway's need to show due diligence and I can't fault Ronald's guidance through the application process and it's so great to have a… Read more
personal touch to help lead me forward. I haven't yet been given approval but, whether my loan is approved or not, I feel that Gateway and particularly Ronald deserve recognition for a great personal experience. I highly recommend them and will be their best advocate among my networks. Cheers Gateway and Ronald.
Impossible communication system – No response to my emailed account application (the only way they let you open an account). I chased it by phone and was told they never got it. I suggested they look in their Junk folder, and it was there - despite them having communicated with me previously via my same email address. Re-sent it 5 times before it finally got through. Was… Read more
notified that day by email that my account was opened, but despite a number of requests, haven't been given a Customer number and temporary password . So I can't register for online banking - to access my account and put in the $2 membership fee, as requested in their email, to activate the account. I was going to open a term deposit. Now I'll just leave the account inactive and take my money elsewhere. A lucky escape I think!
Horrid experience! – Firstly I have authority on an elderly parents account and I was repeatedly asked for my details and for "my" membership number, when I'd already given them my parents member number for the account. The person barely spoke English and was obviously in a OS call centre with terrible line quality. Then they took ages to verify my authority to reinvest the term deposit account. Please, do better! Awful – Product features lacking particularly given the very high annual fee. Value is not here particularly given current offers from other providers. The experience with their customer service was lacking and dissatisfying. Show details
No longer an institution for the contractors – They WERE great. A customer(33 years) no problems, it all changed. Due to them becoming a 'bank' or reaction to the royal commission. If you are a contractor, look elsewhere. Show details
Home Loan Application – Received a excellent rate through Gateway Credit Union, however the process in providing documents was not pleasant. Documents were emailed and despite receiving a automated email saving documents received, I was advised they never received the email. Via a broker I then submitted the documents, only to be told then they also require a copy sent via express post (despite not being noted anywhere else). Despite this overall good experience
Horrible for the last year – Took a loan out with Gateway just over a year ago. Right from settlement they have screwed something up one way or another. They asked me on my forms what to do with settlement proceeds but then went and did something else which cost me additional interest which they blamed on their own lawyers but refused to make right with me. Next I asked them… Read more
to close the loan prior to the anniversary to avoid fees but they didn't do it so fees were charged. Luckily I put it in writing so they had to refund me but they have made the whole process painful. I'll be going to the banking ombudsman to have them dealt with accordingly next.
Gateway Credit Union review – My review of Gateway Credit Union will not be a pleasant one. We had a home loan, which was suggested to us by Yellow Brick Road (another company I'm not particularly happy with). Picture the account as a wooden block tower, stands up well and looks okay. Now, imagine you need to make a change to your wooden block tower, (request help,… Read more
change some details, take out some equity from your property) or heaven forbid, an external will make a mistake with a bill.
Now imagine Gateways as a toddler coming to make the changes to your wooden tower. They will screw it up EVERY time. You will be on the phone a few more time to sort out the origional problem, change.
I get the feeling the people you end up with on the phone, if you can get that far, aren't really experienced. Hope nothing happen on the weekend, NOTHING will be sorted on a weekend!! They take ZERO responsibility for anything they do and push any problem/concern you have back onto you.
We just recently had an overseas company screw up a bill and charged us 100K+ rather than 1K. The overseas company responded with an email and the reversal of the charge and a name number to contact. What did Gateway Credit Union do... well, they actually took out the money out of the account and than froze it! No contact, no email, no number to call. We called their help line BUT, if you can't remember a special phone code (never needed it during the week so don't really recall having or setting one up, you can only set it up on a week day 8am-5pm) you cannot and will not be put through to an operator, the line will just hang up and your left hanging. Well done team, Hopeless.
We have just been told by a member of their team that it's our account and it pretty much our problem. Even though they froze it.
I'd suggest looking further. They really are struggling with being a modern company.
Not even worth one star – It was pointless dealing with these clowns, they don't really understand their customers. Not even worth one star in my opinion.
