after booking the vendor text me to say they wouldn’t be able to go to all the places mentioned in the initial tour advertised and they also wanted me to pay more in cash at the time of the tour as it was a Public Holiday. We were unsure if it was a Public Holiday, it seemed to depend on who you asked but if it was we’d have been happy to pay extra upfront. It’s deceitful to ask for it after and not deliver as promised. We were very concerned we were being scammed and queried this with the vendor who tried to reassure us. However we decided to cancel believing that we were entitled to a refund given we were not getting what had been advertised and were asked to pay more in cash after the full payment. In my view Get your Guide had breached their contract and we were entitled to a full refund. The legal advice I sought agreed. So beware.. you don’t get what you pay for and you pay more after you’ve already paid and Get Your Guide are very hard nosed about keeping your money. I wrote to them several times, disputed the charge with my credit card company but they wouldn’t budge. In my view there is nothing fair or reasonable about this company.
Get Your Guide is clearly acting in a dishonest and fraudulent manner. This company is a scam and should be avoided at all costs! monument (the Theodosius Cistern). So, we had to pay the exorbitant price twice to visit. We were told to contact GYG for a refund, but when we did so (via email, as they were not reachable otherwise), they repeatedly pretended that we had booked the wrong tickets, despite us sending them evidence that the reservation had been made, indeed, for the Basilica Cistern. It is clear that this fraudulent activity is something they do regularly, as there was another couple there at the same time which had the exact same problem. Furthermore, upon looking around, it seems that are many reviews who relate similar stories with them ("lost" among other glowing reviews, most of which, I suspect, are fake). It beggars belief that such companies are allowed to operate in this manner and handle access to monuments of global significance. Part of the blame also rests with the Turkish authorities who force visitors to use random “providers” for online tickets instead of offering an official website for this.
Let shonky companies advertise tickets on their sight and cancel last minute. You are then not allowed to review the shonky companies

we chose and paid a premium for this tour. What we received, however, bore no resemblance to what was promised.
At the very start, the guide bluntly informed us that there would be no meeting with Geisha or Sumo wrestlers at all. Instead, the “experience” turned into little more than a casual walk around the city. We were taken to locations that are completely free and easily accessible to any tourist—a public garden, a free museum, and a temple visit—none of which required a paid guided tour. There was no added value, no exclusive access, and no meaningful cultural insight to justify the cost.
The so-called Sumo experience was reduced to the vague suggestion that if we happened to spot a wrestler walking by on the street, we could try to take a photo. The Geisha component was even more disappointing—the guide suggested we could take a train to a former Geisha district that has since been redeveloped, making any actual sighting highly unlikely. In other words, the two key highlights advertised were entirely fictional in practice.
This felt blatantly misleading and, frankly, deceptive. The tour description sets clear expectations that are simply not delivered. It appears designed to lure customers into paying for an experience that doesn’t exist. For a professionally marketed tour, this level of misrepresentation is unacceptable.
What made it worse was that we had booked this on the final day of our trip, expecting it to be a memorable highlight. Instead, it turned into the most disappointing and frustrating day of our holiday. The experience was so poor that we chose to leave midway through. Even our children, who were particularly excited about meeting Geisha and Sumo wrestlers, were left upset and disheartened.
Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others against booking through GetYourGuide without thoroughly verifying the authenticity of the tour. The platform appears to allow highly misleading listings, and this raises serious concerns about their quality control and accountability. This was not just a bad tour—it felt like a complete waste of money built on false advertising.
Follow-up · It was an online booking. No refunds were issued. Just got a standard apology. In fact guide was more apologetic as we’re scammed by this company.

hoping the common sense and humanity prevailed.... it didn't. We offered to supply flight details etc however their blunt refusal to exercise any form of refund, or voucher for the experience has left a very sour taste in our mouths. Completely inflexible and unapologetic about it. It is easy to rely on their outdated policies but it is clear the company lacks any form of soul or customer service spirit.
It you want flexibility and customer service look elsewhere.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They fail to honour their refund policy and just ignore attempts to contact them. conscious of the time to return to the ship, so no worries about All Aboard time. I have previously been hesitant about booking these things online but have found it an easy and efficient process. They sent the tickets/vouchers almost immediately so once downloaded they were easily available on my phone. The tours were well organized and the guides had a lot of local knowledge. I am happy to recommend this company for you to consider for your tours.

other tourists on the big bus who were also non English speaking form overseas. It was up to me to call a tow truck which stated would take over 2 hours to arrive. I asked the driver to contact the tour operator and arrange for alternative transportation as it was getting dark and cold but the incompetent driver would not do that. The only way to contact get your guide was via their app on chat basis where I told Ivan from Get your guide what was happening and all he could say was he was “escalating the matter higher up” by 8pm it was freezing out on the great ocean road stuck in the middle of nowhere and still no alternative transportation was arranged by the tour operator to get us out of there. I was informed by Ivan that someone will contact Me via email. 5 hours on I still have not received any email and the temperature has dropped -3C. I ultimately arranged for a taxi to drive me from Apollo Bay to Melbourne as that was where my hotel was and I have a flight at 6am on Saturday 4/7/2025 to catch back to Sydney. It will take 3.5hours from Apolloa bay to Melbourne and the cab cost is $700. I write this for the cab! I will be seeking full compensation for this cab fare from get your guide and will be making a complaint as to how your operators bus drivers who do not know the Australian road rules- the Hunter Valley bus tragedy flashed before my eyes when the driver drove the bus into a ditch. I felt I was going to die as the bus was almost on its side. The reference number for the chat is 9209336. I even attempted to call get your guide and spoke with [Name Removed] (in Berlin) who again told me the matter was being escalated “higher up” my point is if I did not initiate to get a taxi on my own I’d still be stuck in the middle of nowhere. This tour company DID NOTHING TO ASSIST US. There are still 25 people stranded in the middle of the great ocean road 3.5hrs from Melbourne!!! Never use this tour company ever again !
I purchased the Rome: St. Peter's Basilica Express Guided Tour for Wed April 30th 2025. It was an absolute waste of money. express entry (skipping the massive queues) which it was not. When others in the group queried this with the guide he told them there is no such thing as an express line to enter the Basilica.
There were close to 100 other people who had booked for the very same tour. We were directed to wait outside a cafe for the tour leader. When the tour leaders arrived we were split into groups of 30 and walked down to St. Peter's Square. The guide pointed out 3 things in the square - a fountain, an obelisk and a statue. He then walked us over to the security screening where we lined up with everyone else. Once we were through the security area we were directed to join the end of a very long queue to enter the basilica. At that point the guide then informed us that he was not going into the basilica with us and asked us to return the audio device to him. That was it! Many of the people on the tour were annoyed, but the tour leader simply left.
I will never again waste money on GetYourGuide as this tour was nothing but a ripoff. Selling a 'tour' for something that is FREE is dishonest and proves they are not be be trusted. There is no way I will ever book another tour with them and I will never recommend them to anyone, in fact the opposite is true.
DON'T USE THIS COMPANY ! – This is not company I would trust or be bothered booking thru. They do not honor their "refunds" and will hang up on the phone when you try to ask the hard questions of why. They are dioshonest. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Provider who informed me that Refunds was sent to GetYourGuide long time ago. Tour Provider then contacted GetYourGuide on my behalf. I then received email from Christian, from YetYourGuide on 26 June informed me refunds would be made within 3- 5 working days!
Today 6 July, THERE IS STILL NO REFUNDS.
This is the 1ST TIME I USED GETYOURGUIDE WHO BROKE EVERY 1 OF THEIR PROMISES!
