Cannot fly with device – I like the GHD unplugged even though it can snag and has a short battery life. It is convenient. But I am very upset that I could not take it home from Japan. Could take it over no problem but cannot fly back with it even if bought in Japan. The airport will bin it no matter what you explain. So there’s no guarantee that airports will allow it even if flying through an allowed airline. When I bought this from Hairhouse there was no indication of restrictions flying. Only when I went to GHD site I could see it’s not allowed to fly all places.

Purchased in at Hairhouse Physical store for $500.

Not worth the money – I have always used and loved GHD products, even my hair brush is GHD, but this product isn’t capable of straightening my hair. Fully charged and I couldn’t finish my hair, I have moderately straight hair already, I straighten it for a more polished look, and it’s shoulder length…..very disappointing it wasn’t up to the job. I could certainly have better spent my money.

Purchased in at Mobileciti for $414.99.

Warning: Do not buy GHD unplugged – Very disappointed at the purchase of the most expensive product in GHD line. Its like a toy version of the GHD. Takes up to 2 hours to get to full charge. However the full charge when in use lasts about 13-15 minutes which is not sufficient to straighten hair unless you have short and mostly straight hair. Probably ok for only touch ups after you have straightened hair with plug in GHD. The product box states sufficient charge for full hairstyle but its not true. I got 1/3 of my hair done in one charge. Then had to wait 2 hours for it to charge. Complete waste of money.

Purchased in for $400.

Do NOT buy from GHD – This hair straightener is a complete and utter waste of money. I purchased it for my daughters 18 birthday. As it was a special milestone birthday for her I thought I would get her ‘top of the range’, something she would enjoy using for years to come. How wrong I was. My daughter has a reasonably short style hair cut and the charge runs out about half way through doing her hair. As if this was not bad enough, when it runs out of charge you can not plug it in and continue using it. It is then rendered useless for 2 HOURS! whilst it recharges. At this point she comes into my bedroom to borrow my crappy old hair straightener because she does not have one to use. I get that because it is cordless it is marketed as “on-the-go”, I get that, BUT I also assumed (as one would for a $500 product) that it would be possible to plug it in and continue using it (like you can for most battery devices) on off chance the battery ran out. No where on the website when purchasing the product does it mention that it can not be used whilst charging. This is deceptive, sneaky and completely misleading.

When I contacted the company with my grievance I was brushed off with a “not our problem, you didn’t read the fine print”. I was told that it states online that the battery only lasts 2 hours and yes it does. But what it does NOT say is that you can not plug it in and use it whilst it is charging. I was also told that it is not a stand alone product, it is only to be used in tandem with one of their other expensive products. It is ONLY an “on-the_go” hair straightener designed to take out with you in your handbag to touch up your hair!!! THIS is the most ludicrous concept I have ever heard of. Who on earth would take a $500 hair straightener out with them in their handbag just on the off chance their hair needs a “touch up”. I have never in my life felt so ripped off by a purchase, which has just been compounded by the companies attitude to my concerns. Judging by the number of negative reviews online (I wish I had read them before I purchased) I know they would be fully aware of how many people are upset by the purchase of this product yet they continue to sell it. This $500 straightener is useless to straighten your hair utterly useless! Stay away from it and GHD entirely as they plainly do give a damn about the consumers of their products.
