Absolute Lemon – As with other reviews I purchased the glem bi energy oven paying over $3000. The hinges went inside of 18 months. The electric side of the oven stopped working a couple of months ago. The gas side of the oven stopped working approximately 3 years ago. The gas top intermittently stops working regularly. Same common issues: door, hinges, gas/electric never works – I bought a house which had two GLEM appliances: stove/oven and dishwasher. Both have had their fair share of issues. The gas option never worked despite serviceman checking it once. The oven door never closed properly and now remains open and I need to put a chair to keep the oven closed. Absolute waste of money. Terrible quality. Not surprised it's discontinued – As someone who likes to cook, I bought this oven from Harvey Norman, for it's option of bi-energy oven, and it was sold to me as a quality product. It came as part of a deal with a rangehood, which is so loud when on, it gives me a headache. I paid for 6 years extended warranty, but I would expect a $3000 oven to last at least ten years without… Read more

having issues. I noticed the heat distribution was terrible, Glem had to send out a stainless steel heat distribution sheet which probably costs them $2. Why wasn't it included? By 2015, 2 years after purchase, and only 18 months from installation, the glass on the door needed replacing, the door hinges went, and the handle needed replacing. [name removed] at Glem was helpful, sent the parts, and organised a service call. The door hinges went again a couple of years after, and this time I spoke to a young guy who told me that the hinges will fail. He seemed baffled when I explained that an oven doors sole purpose in life is to open and close. However, in August 2019 the door hinges have gone again, and this time as it's out of warranty, I will have to purchase new hinges and pay for a serviceman to install them, as [name removed] will not send them out, and at a cost of around $220, and having read other reviews, and knowing from previous experience they will fail again, it's an expensive ongoing issue. Now tonight, 7th December 2019, I discovered whilst I thought I was cooking dinner, that the electric oven was not heating more than about 30C, and the fan was dead. Luckily the gas oven mode is functioning, although the fan is not. Not sure what I will do for Christmas entertaining in the next couple of weeks! As an Interior Designer, I won't recommend Glem to any of my clients, and I certainly wouldn't waste another $3000 on such appalling quality again. I'm actually thinking of taking this to Consumer Affairs, as an oven of this price should last no less than 10 years.

Fraught with issues :( – When we originally purchased this oven at the fairly high price of $2.8k we did so for two reasons. 1.Because it had the dual fuel option for the oven which was very convenient and energy efficient. 2. Because Glem was recommended to us as a "Top Quality" Brand. For the first two years (during the warranty period) the oven was Awesome.! living up… Read more

to all our expectations. Then it ended and within a few months the Igniter switches had started to play up and one by one stopped working. During this time whenever you used the oven on electric mode it started to develop a rancid electrical burning smell and eventually a few weeks later it stopped working altogether on electric mode not that we could use it without felling sick from the smell anyway. Contacted Glem and even though it was out of warranty they got this part replaced for us free of charge. Then a few months later the Safety Dual Microswitch went and the fan forcing would not work at all nor would the electric oven. NO warranty help this time. $250 repair bill. Then within a few weeks from getting this fixed the Fan force stopped working on GAS mode but I wasn't paying hundreds of dollars again to get this fixed as it wasn't a massive issue. Now just 7 months after the safety switch was replaced the oven is stinking our house out again with the burning elec smell like it's on fire. Just waiting for it to die again. WORST OVEN EVER.!

Love / Hate Relationship – I both love and loathe my free-standing oven/stove. Both my husband and I are former professional caterers and do a fair amount of entertaining. gas. It was expensive, but we were willing to pay for what appeared to be a nearly commercial quality domestic product.

It was most disappointing when the clock/timer stopped working within the first six months; and to have the digital panel replaced and serviced was going to cost considerably more than going to the $2 shop and buying a basic manual timer and we already have a large wall clock in the kitchen. There is a single, squiggle filament in the clock face that does light up from time to time.

The next disappointment was the rapidly disappearing position decals showing the control knob position placements. Seems it would have been more effective to have the face plate stamped and then enameled - decals were a rather cheap out on a rather expensive appliance.

Then there is the hinge issue - the door is delightfully heavy but the hinges are of insufficient quality to adequately cope with the weight for very long. I think of heavy doors on commercial ovens and the hinges certainly don't perish within 3 years or less. We have now replaced the hinges for a second time at approx $145 a pop plus shipping (this last time, I ordered a second set as a back up).

And then there is the issue with the door seals, which sag and perish rapidly as they are made of rubber, which cannot be expected to last very long when exposed to significantly high heats and even the slightest amount of grease from cooking. The rubber replacements run approx $100 a pop plus shipping and I realised today that our seal needs replacing once again - I am not sure if this is the 4th or possibly the 5th. There are various high temperature commercial grade seals that would be better suited - even ones made from silicone - we will now make enquiries about having one custom-made from commercial grade quality material.

In saying all this, I still love the cooking capacity of both the oven (we have installed a commercial oven thermometer so can regulate the internal heat when hinge or seal issues creep in) and the stove top burners although design wise, I wish the drip tray wasn't a fixed part of the stove top).

The time will come, however, when the appliance will need to be replaced. When that day comes, we will again be looking for a dual fuel appliance. Hopefully, Glem/Emelia will have lifted their game a bit so that we can find a product that is truly a commercial quality product made for a busy domestic kitchen.

Thank you – My stove is 6-7 years old, replaced the door seal 3 times, the problem, i thought was with the door not closing properly, it kept hitting the seal and thus stretching and damaging the said seal. 10 minutes. they replaced the seal with the current version free of charge + $20 postage. putting the seal on was easy but the door was still not closing properly (never really has) so I looked up how to do it and removed the door, i found 2 loose screws which i tightened and put the door back on as per instructions. after doing that I realised the door was never really fitted properly in the first place as the original position of the hinge was in a different position. the door now closes.

In summary check the specs, there will be a reason something is not working, you just got to find it.

Hats off to Glem Gas for their customer service and a special thanks to Sarah for her prompt response and attitude to a somewhat grumpy old man. I believe my oven will be good for another 6-7 years and when it needs replacing I will definitely get another.

Glem products and customer service – Well what can I say regarding Glem products, we purchased in 2011 a free standing stove (as listed above) with a duel Gas/Elec oven, a dishwasher and a matching range hood, first the dishwasher died, another one was sent but the wrong model showed up, after a phone call it was replaced with the correct model, next the door on the stove was not… Read more

closing properly so again contacted customer service and was told door seal needed to be replaced, they sent a door seal, next the clock died and again we had to ring customer service, a technician came and replaced the whole printed circuit and clock, (Technician scratched the top stainless surround on the stove, not happy) The door on the oven has never been 100% right (sealed shut) as we found that heat was escaping and the temp inside the oven was lower than the control knob showed, so, I decided I would ring Glemgas again today (yes it's been a while) to ask what they could do, I spoke to a customer service girl named Sarah, I would like to say she was polite and calm though out the phone calls, offered me a $20 discount on new hinges for the stove door, why was I not given hinges when it was still under warranty? But, after thinking about all the trouble we have had with these Glem appliances we have decided to dump both the stove and dishwasher (keep the range hood as our kitchen was built around it) and to buy well known brand products. Really people if you are thinking about buying a stove, dishwasher and even a rang hood( even though we have not had a problem with the range hood) think about the few reviews listed here. The only good thing about the stove is i can buy spare parts, dame shame i live in the country and can't get anyone to fit them without paying more than i paid for the spare parts. I can't even get information on how to replace the parts i need to replace and these cost me a small fortune. Having read the reviews I am beginning to think i should cut my losses andf go back to the brand of stove i had before, at least they followed through on their promises and information was easy to get.

different fabric, I had no problem with the seal ever since. But this doesn't mean that the trouble was over. In the next 1,5 years, the timer gave up, the ignition in the oven wouldn’t work, the hinges got loose, the gas in the oven wouldn't work.

After warranty was over I thought, that everything is fixed by now, but... the hinges got loose a second time, the electric fan in the oven failed, the latest -- the ignition switch doesn't work any more. I use a long gas lighter to get my oven and the stove working, as I won't spend another cent on that oven.

I'm really disappointed, as I spent almost $ 3000 at Harvey Norman, thinking an oven in that price range should last for ever - or at least longer then a couple of years.

Due to being off grid solar we are not able to use the electric function of the oven (it will blow up the inverter). within weeks of the repairs the hinges have given out and no longer close the oven properly, reluctant to spend further money on what is already an expensive cooker we have solved the problem by propping a chair in front of the door. ground. The one time I tried to cook sausages under it I almost set the stove on fire. And the temperature control is an absolute joke. When I mentioned to the serviceman that the thermostat was out on the gas oven by 20 degrees he informed me that "temperature fluctuations were normal". 20 degrees? This makes it difficult when I need to use the oven on a very low temperature occasionally as the lowest marked temperature is 120˚, which actually heats to 140˚. The electric oven too is off. It heats about 10 degrees under what it's set to.

In the end, while I'm enjoying using the oven and have gotten used to it's little "quirks" it's doubtful I'd ever buy another Glem or Emilia oven. For the price we paid I expected much better. Great gas cook top Temperature control is a joke
