I bought a JP5-48-PTV to provide drinking water from an above ground tank to my house. I was replacing a smaller Davey pump that packed up after 5 years. Total head of ~20m well within limits of new pump (45m). Installed as per instructions from Grundfos with a non-return valve on the 40mm suction pipe. I initially installed the pump myself (like… Read more
I had 4 times before on various houses) but it wouldn't work at all. Hired a plumber who spend half a day troubleshooting. Eventually got is to work but pressure fluctuates and the pump cycles on and off continually when a tap is open. Grundfos technical support were surprisingly unhelpful. A person on the phone suggested I adjust the pressure switch setting but seemed surprised that their website or the installation instructions did not show how to do this. Basically I have to get an authorised installer, who they don't have in my area, to come and assess the product (at my expense of course). If its found to be faulty then they may provide a replacement. Basically, I have wasted over $1k in labour for a plug and play pump that cost $680. And I still don't have a working product. I'm so disappointed in the aftersales service of this supposedly premium product. Never again.
Avoid Grundfos House Pumps – We had an old Grundfos House Pump which finally failed after 26 years. As we had always believed Grundfos to be a reliable product we purchased a Grundfos CMP-SP 3-47, but alas after 3 1/2 years the PM2 controller started to misfire, and we had to wait quite a few seconds before the water started to flow from the tap, not every time but enough… Read more
times to be annoying. Went back to the Pump Shop and found that we were not the only customer they had who was experiencing this issue. Grundfos just took the attitude outside of warranty. We looked at spare parts, a replacement pressure switch for the controller $154.00, replacement membrane $57.00, what a joke when the whole PM2 controller is $353.00 which contains control boards etc etc. I would avoid Grundfos Pumps totally as they are no longer the quality product they used to be
Grundfos variable speed pump for home – Our lightly used Grundfos pump at our farm cost $2,400 and lasted almost 7 years. It failed electronically and we tried to get it fixed only to find that Grundfos don't carry spares for long and it was a throw away job. Several of their service agents said the same. I rang Grundfos as I couldn't believe it and they promised to look and ring… Read more
back shortly that day. They didn't, as they didn't the next time. I rang again later that week and the Manager didn't even apologies for nobody calling back as promised. No customer service or focus. The Manager though my situation and treatment was pretty standard so I thought I should warn others so they can consider after sale service before they also waste their money buying an expensive pump from them. We are now getting a DAB or Davey which has the same warranty, keeps spares and makes repairable pumps - for almost half the cost of the equivalent Grundfos ones. Grundfos just aren't what they use to be and that is a pity. If you read this, buy one and it fails, remember, keep your expectations at zero as you were warned. cheers
Warranty Response Time – Grundfos USED to be a premier brand. Now they sell inferior products with very well known known defects (Google "Scala 2 cracked housing"), a shame really. Perhaps they should start selling quality products again so their warranty department is not so overwhelmed with claims? I launched my warranty claim with all details and pictures to document the fault three weeks ago... no response yet
Top quality pump very happy – Very good pump top quality works great looks amazing and has a clear and good looking led display very happy with the pump
all the water i need, all day – I'm off grid and needed a reliable pump to go the distance from the shed to the house 95 meters. Grundfos does it! It had to be reliable and keep up a constant pressure over the distance. I bought two of them.
Letdown by unethical and incompetent technical support – In my business we have over many years standardised on Grundfos pumps - which we considered heavy duty , fit for purpose and very reliable. Over the last few years we noticed a big drop in quality and the technical support has been way below standard what you would expect from a European company - now that the pumps are made in China the quality… Read more
has dropped off. We have to replace seals after only 4 months - and this is where it gets really annoying. Grundfos will not honour their warranties - they have a dozen of excuses - like sic ' air cavitation caused the damage- and that is not covered" - or ' the pump overheated and that is not covered " etc
The arrogance of the technical service technicians I dealt with recently is just off the scale- patronising and egocentric behaviour.
Instead of honouring the warranty they will overcharge for the service call - for one service call they charged for 6 hours where the actual job only took 30 minutes. We complained about this and they refused to adjust the bill and be honest with us .
For those out there - forget Grundfos they have gone downhill - Lowara and Southern Cross are much better . We won't buy another Grundfos pump again.
