Haier HRF520BHC – 3 stars because the water dispenser is very slow and comes out very slow. It would take minutes to fill up a glass. Other than that, the fridge seems great!

Do not buy – Bought a brand new fridge (HRF520BHC) in Nov 2020. Today (Jul 2024), the fridge died! It lasted less than 4 years. The shortest lifespan for a fridge I have ever seen. Instead of cooling/freezing, it very effectively cooked all of the food inside, spoiling hundreds of dollars worth of food. Would not recommend Hair's products. Show details

the shelves in the door solid. The supplied egg frames had no place to fit so I left them out. The only negative with the fridge is the plastic panel above the fruit and veg crisper that would get stuck, jammed and collect and leak condensation into the crisper and was generally not functional. It was a simple fix by just removing it and the crisper now keeps fruits and veg extremely well. The glass shelving is very easy to keep clean, I’m wary of putting heavy pots into the fridge as the weight does cause a slight bow movement maybe due to the shelf being quite thin. The rubber edge around protecting the glass edge works well. The freezer compartment has very nice smooth sliding drawers in functional sizes. The Icecube tray was very tiny and not useful but I replaced these with some silicon trays that fit perfectly into place in the slim drawer. The upside down or bottom mount feature is my preference and I find the refrigerator easy to use. The motor is very quiet, both doors open smoothly. Time will tell if it has lastability (my last fridge was 17 years old). The stainless steel finish on the front is easy to keep clean and doesn’t show fingerprints. The sides are painted grey but matches with the stainless steel. Over all I really like this fridge and will be happy if it works well for the next ten years plus.

evidence a cockroach damage the inverter and controller board, despite the fact they are these components appear to be not appropriately sealed. Fridge products are supposed to be durable, be able to operate reliably in the broader environment into which they are sold. My previous fridge, an Electrolux which was given to my son when he moved out is over 10 years old and still going fine, with the presence of the odd cockroach. Now I've been left with no choice but to go to the tribunal and argue this issue, if am successful I will post the details, as I'm sure this would help the 1000s of people that must be being ripped off with this default "the cockroach did it clause, your fault, not ours" approach to warranties. If I'm unsuccessful, I will not be paying another cent to this company, I will place the fridge on the footpath and drive a couple of axes into it, photograph and post that as warning to other potential victims of this company. Do your self a favour and buy an Electrolux or Westinghouse.

etc. I don't know if we overloaded it or we tried to shut it without the crisper drawer being closed properly. No idea. I just woke up in the morning and found the shelf broken. I read a lot of reviews and ended up buying this fridge because the door is reversible and I wanted a right side opening fridge. Oddly, being left opening hasn't been an issue so we haven't tried to change it yet. I use the second chiller drawer for deli stuff, sweets, desserts and soft drinks etc. Some people complained about the size of the ice cube tray lol but who cares buy a bigger one. Anyway, my son actually uses it everyday. So far so happy. The freezer drawers are great sizes too. There is a shallow one that my son likes to put all his flat bread/wraps in. So convenient.

requested a weekend or after hours time. I was told that the repair people do not work weekends or after hours. So I took a day off work. They came and said the fridge was repaired. Months later I noticed the same issue. Again I rang Good Guys who put me back through to Fisher & Pykel. Again I asked for a weekend or after hours, I was again told no they do not work those times. I asked if they could tell me what time the repair would occur so that I may work a half day and was told that it is a large window and they cannot estimate what time. So again, I took another day off work. Again I was told the fridge was repaired and weeks later I noticed it was leaking again. I phoned Fisher and Pykel directly and asked them for a replacement. They told me my warranty is only for a repair and the problem needs to occur 4 times with 4 repairs before they will assess if I need a new fridge. I was told again they do not work weekends. I stood my ground and said I have already used 2 of my leave days for this and was able to lock in a Saturday, even though I was told previously they don’t work Saturday’s. Someone came and said they could not repair the fridge, that I need to turn it off and let it defrost and put towels down as there is going to be a lot water and left without repairing the fridge. Fisher & Pykel then booked in a new repair time with me without asking my available dates. I cannot afford to take another day off work for another repair or afford to loose all my food in my fridge. Good guy have said they have escalated my case but no one has been in contact. It is deplorable customer service.

The MyZone is not keeping temperature correctly, it has three settings to choose from: Beverage Cooling (manual states 2-4C) the actual reading is 0C Meat and Poultry (manual states 0C) the actual reading is -6C Seafood (manual states -1C) the actual reading is -6C

Warranty finished. Haier are not built to last, they are temporary appliances so please spend the extra on a good quality brand, pay a bit more for the trusted and timeless brands. My previous Westinghouse went for over 10 years, still perfect upon selling it as it was too big for new kitchen. No problems with Westinghouse all those years. AVOID HAIER AND ANY SIMILAR EL CHEAPO BRANDS - not worth it, I have learned the hard lesson!!!

Can't see the poor product quality or almost non-existent warranty support would meet the minimum expectations of the Australian public! So very simply: AVOID ALL HAIER AND FISHER AND PAYKEL - unless you want a product that breaks quickly and to be treated with contempt.

not happening as a result. I thought that was it and all good. Again the same thing happened in December 2021. Tech came and replaced defrosting sensor. The same happened in March 2022, and I was over it. Hair offered a different model as replacement or store credit. I elected for the store credit. It took more than a month to get a separate fridge from Betta Home living.

Based on the other comments, defrost sensor issue is a common problem in this unit. The only positive experience was the Haier support team, who did their best to resolve my issue (at least this is what I felt).

additional expenses whilst we wait for the service appointment - for example, it will cost us $1,000+ to feed a family with takeout over 2 weeks, not to mention the inconvenience of finding alternate means to keep medication, drinks etc cool. It would actually be cheaper for me to just go buy a new fridge today!

What good is offering a 2 year manufacturer's warranty if you don't develop a service network to actually deliver repairs against it?

Absolutely dreadful, and I'd strongly urge everyone to think hard before purchasing any appliances in future from the Fisher & Paykel umbrella.

Do not buy – Less than one year old and the fuse keeps blowing. It’s not a common part so lots of waiting (without fridge for days) then new fuse only lasted less than two months. Freezer cannot defrost so fridge loses chill from the top down. Other anomalies in production noticed by repairers whilst here which they rectified. This model is obviously a real dud. We are trying to get a refund.

unlikely to be compensated. the fridge does not maintain a consistent and reliable temperature in all compartments. It stops being cold and the sensor is faulty as it's covered in ice it's clearly a known issue based on reviews below.

repair service company that basically left it up to us to deal with Haier regarding the supply of parts. After about 6 weeks Haier assigned another repair company to look at it. It's now 3 weeks later to be told by the appliance repair man that the fridges have a major design fault. I rang again this morning and there is no ETA on the supply of parts as they have to be re-designed. I have had to go and buy another fridge meanwhile and am so upset that I will never ever buy a Haier product again. As Fisher &Paykel are now owned by Haier and built in the same factory, I will never buy a fisher & Paykel product either.

Do not buy this dodgy fridge – Like many other reviews, I've had the same experience with this one. After 6 months of working fine, it suddenly stopped being cold. I lost all my food, eventually got a repair man out to fix it - he didn't have a fuse for it and said "he'd be back." He never came back and now I'm getting a new fridge - not a Haier. Note - he said (and I quote) this is a common problem with this fridge, the fuse is too close to (something). Show details

Good so far – Only had this fridge for a couple of weeks, and so far I am very impressed, lots of space, very well lit, fridge drawers are large and easy to access. Freezer is only 89L, which might not suit everyone, but I prefer more fridge space. I dont use the water dispenser, so cannot comment on it. I have had a bit of trouble trying to work the temperature adjustment on the front, did not work as explained in book, but overall, I like the unit. Show details

so I just leave it on "beverage cooling", and it would have been nicer if the freezer had a slide out door/drawer instead of having to open the door the whole way to open the drawers. But otherwise overall it looks great and has been working well for the 6months I've had this, but will wait and see how long it lasts.

Fridge stopped working after 2 months – We bought this fridge online while in the process of relocating from QLD to Sydney based on the reviews but after only 2 months it has stopped working and Haier have said they will send a technician in 2 weeks which is completely unacceptable, we have requested a full refund so we can buy a more reliable brand but nothing. with icing up and a noise, a visit from a technician confirmed that the freezer door was not sealing properly (door was bowed), it was decided to swap the whole fridge rather than wait to replace freezer door with new one. The replacement fridge was delivered on 14th December 2020. After a couple of days the fridge switched off completely. It did subsequently start to work again, but the fridge was not cold enough; ranging from 10 to 17 degrees. Due to Christmas holidays it has taken some time to sort out the issue with F & P (their customer service is shocking). Finally, the second faulty fridge has been picked up today and I am getting a full refund. I am so disappointed because the fridge was a fabulous looking fridge but unfortunately it doesn't do the job it was designed to do. I would willingly have paid more for a fully functioning fridge. Now, the search continues for a 500+ litre fridge that I will be happy with; I have had a Samsung 529 litre for 10 to 15years and never had a problem, and it is still working. Samsung don't make a 500+ litre bottom mount or I would have purchased a Samsung. Haier has a great looking fridge but they need to improve the issues with the functioning. Also better customer service would be nice, 20-30 minute wait on the phone, phone calls not returned, promised emails not received; at no stage has there been an apology for the frustration, inconvenience and disappointment we have experienced. My recommendation is DO NOT BUY HAIER!!

depending where your tap water comes from. Tons of room in the freezer drawers and the food space is very good. The draws can be a problem if they're not opened and closed flush/straight and the freezer seals are easily knocked off. I'm very happy with it. **Since this review, the fridge failed 22 months later, costing me several hundred dollars in spoiled food. If it were to be repaired (failed module) there would be no extended warranty, just the few remaining weeks, not quite right, so sent it back and bought another brand and paid for an extended warranty. Wouldn't touch anything Haier again. Also trying to get a food waste claim resolved with Fisher Paykel.
