My favourite washing machine EVER – I bought this last year after many 2nd hand machines died after only a few months. It has certainly held up to the hype, and has not skipped a beat, even after washing blankets, doonas, pillows and mattress protectors. Its great on water use and power, and cleans beautifully. I can't say enough good things about this underrated brand. I'm glad I… Read more

researched Hair before buying. Otherwise I would have missed out on a great appliance. PLEASE don't use fabric softener as it clogs up and causes mould!!!!!

Great washing machine with one fatal flaw – Very happy with this washing machine. Clothes turn out well. Perhaps my mistake for assuming that a wifi connected smart washing machine would have the time delay function built in... Well, it doesn't. You are not able to delay a wash so that when you go to sleep and wake up you can hang freshly washed clothes. I wish I knew this before I bought!… Read more

And their app is absolute rubbish I would rate them higher if they added the feature or improved their app.

What a clever washing machine! – I was very happy to be offered the opportunity to try this machine mostly because of the ecological benefits that it offers. A far cry from my previous top loader indeed! Living away from the big smoke is normally no big deal, but having goods serviced can be. I was delighted to discover this facility is readily available in my area. This was… Read more

most reassuring as I wanted to ensure long-term service. I valued having had a technician install the unit because they can easily provide tips and suggestions you may not have thought of—such as setting aside the transport hardware which you are likely to need in case you have to move house—plus much more.

The first thing I discovered was that the machine uses cold water only, but the tech guy quickly set my mind at rest about power consumption for heating. A 4 out of 6 stars rating is a big gain on my previous unit! After duly reading the comprehensive manual (a daunting amount of information) to make sure I didn’t do anything untoward, I loaded some washing in the tumbler, pressed the power symbol and the AU LD message appeared on the display?!?! Had I done something wrong? Not so! The machine was telling me that it was weighing the amount of washing I had just loaded. It was a feature I had missed in the manual, not at all surprising considering how comprehensive the material provided is.

Add a bit of detergent in the drawer and press the start symbol and…voila! My wash was on. How easy is that?

If you are like me and follow the mandate ‘when all fails, read the instructions,’ you would have been absolutely impressed by the ease of the process so far. The machine provided me with countdown to the end of the cycle, and played a little tune while saying goodbye. I had not selected any particular program at this stage, my load was small, the washing items colours-fast, and all was good in my world. I DID remember to extract the drawer later on and wash off any residual detergent , a good idea because some was left and would have gone hard overnight. I also remembered the technician suggestion to use half of the recommended quantity of detergent. Aside from the saving involved, in an area where water is soft, the quantity of suds can be impressive! Next I was enticed by the WI-FI feature. I’m not sure if and when I’ll use it, but I like experimenting and technology. Doing so proved to be super easy and it will be available if and when I desire to do so...we'll see.

This machine is extremely quiet and a pleasure to use. I’ve continued to experiment with the different cycles as need has arisen and they all did a great job. I’ve also been disciplined in leaving the door open afterward to avoid mouldy smells. And I promised myself to periodically wipe clean the seal where you are sure to find the shredded remains of that pesky leftovers tissue you forgot to extract from the jeans’ pocket.

As a practical individual who dislikes ironing, the delicate cycle was especially important to me. I have gone to a great deal of trouble to have machine washable curtains throughout the house (Please read your labels! Most ready-made are not as I unfortunately discovered to my cost), and my new washing machine did a superb job to cleaning them. Hanging them while still wet (not dripping) provides the easiest and quickest solution especially in the warm summer weather.

All up, a great washing machine which meets my ever growing eco standards. With the environmental issues of global warming and the exhaustion of natural resources, I’m happy to do my bit to help our planet. Who wouldn’t? Any problems? None so far (it's early days yet!) aside of having been reminded that I can’t just add that one small forgotten item as I used to do with my top loader. Lastly, be aware that the power button is super sensitive to the lightest touch. It’s just as well the machine will turn itself off after a little while if no action is taken…just brushing against it is sufficient to turn the unit on.

Not our Ideal – Reviewed under the Ambassador programme. The machine this one is replacing is a 13 year old Electrolux front loader of the same capacity. The Haier arrived very well packaged, with setup intuitive and reasonably quick. Unfortunately the user manual suffers the all too common glitches from translation, and is brief to the extent that some user… Read more

set-able parameters aren’t even mentioned. For example, I have yet to have any understanding of what the “downloaded” programme is. This machine can be linked via wifi - more on that later - so it probably has something to do with that, but zip in the instructions. Function buttons well laid out, and display an easy viewing blue colour. Programmes are selected via a large dial, with parameters for each programme further able to be fine tuned/customised via a pushbutton system similar to a touchpad. Easy on the ear tones sound at each press, and these can be user disabled if preferred. Very well designed and easily removable soap/softener dispenser. A very commendable wash temperate range.

Basic programmes come preloaded with parameters, but these can be adjusted prior to commencing the wash. Once begun, the display shows time required for the cycle, with remaining time counted down. The timings are pretty good. Our most commonly used programme - a favouritised cotton cycle - is much shorter than that of our old machine. Unfortunately parameters such as spin speed cannot be adjusted once the cycle has begun.

As mentioned, the manual is badly let down by poor translation. Better info could probably be had via searching online forums etc, but I was determined to base this review only upon the materials provided. For example, setting the “favourite“ programme per the instructions does not actually activate the “favourite” parameter. A degree of trial and error has to be used. You eventually “get it”, but if you relied on the provided literature, you would be frustrated - as were we!!

This machine is the first we’ve encountered with wifi functionality, and we had really high hopes for this function - smart phones and customisable interfaces have rocketed in capability, so we were expecting some truly amazing flexibility in this respect. Wowww. What a letdown. You will require a high degree of tech savvy to even be able to link the machine with your network. Despite having a reasonable degree, I ended up finally having to cede this job to much higher in the savvy stakes 16 year old son.

There are no instructions provided with the machine on what to do once it’s linked with the network. Strange. We assumed there’d be some on the interface. Nope. In fact the interface is disturbingly lacking in ability. It seems that all you can do is activate the currently programmed function on the machine. What a missed opportunity - we were expecting to be able to nominate a programme, change the parameters, then stop and start it to our hearts’ content. In fact given the almost useless nature of the link, we would wonder what possible situation would see it get used. It would make a lot more sense to me to simply manually customise the required cycle, then activate the delay function if one was going to be away!

The machine has an eco function which knocks a considerable amount of time off the cycle, and given that we are self sufficient with both power and water we were excited by this feature, But each time we used this we found soap powder residue on our wash. This despite us always using way less than the recommended dose. So this one will be relegated to the useless bin.

The mainstream cycles seem to do a good job, with all of them simply being a particular blend of spin speed, temperature, wash timings and so on. All of which can be played around with before commencing the wash. There is a commendable power fail system, where the machine recognises brief power outages, and recommences the cycle when power is resumed. Wash results are fine with all, apart from the eco cycle mentioned above.

Some annoying down sides .... this machine for whatever reason makes our water pipes clunk and rattle like mad. We’ve never encountered this in our setting before despite this being the 3rd washing machine (as well as dishwasher) at our property. We are on a rainwater supply with pump and pressure tank. Ordinarily we would have worried about what this sudden application of pressures would do to our pump, however the reassurance of the pressure tank between the two should ameliorate this. It just sounds awful, and we wonder what requisite in the machine makes this necessary.

Secondly, despite being scrupulously level, the machine can often be surprisingly off balance in the spin cycle. We usually only use the slowest spin speed. This was 600RPM on our old machine, but this model has an otherwise impressive minimum of 400RPM. To be fair with the review process however we’ve tried a range of speeds. The situation unfortunately occurs across all spin speeds.

The door to the model unfortunately is placed JUST too low to allow it to open with a standard sized wash basket under it. See photograph. A minor point, but noticeable, and certainly a new problem for us here.

And for the most baffling one .... the viewing “porthole” is well endowed with a very dark tint to the extent that the wash is completely obscured. This may make the machine look sexy - but really - is there actually people that buy washing machines for their looks?!?! I was unable to see the washing in the machine even with strong lighting and/or a powerful torch. Bizarre, and one I’m really struggling to understand.

The internal drum of the machine is visibly smaller in dimension to our previous 7.5Kg washer, and we can only trust that Haier got it’s sizing calculations right.

In summary. Easy to set up, washes well, frustrating to use at times - with us still wondering whether we’re actually using all its features, with some downsides probably enough to make us scratch our heads and wonder whether this one is really our ideal.

A real step up – I’ve always liked front loaders from afar, never having taken the ‘big jump’, from the traditional top loader. So imagine the excitement when I got the opportunity to fully test and review one of these. The chosen unit, the Haier HWF75AN1 7.5kg Front Loader washing machine. And what a gorgeous looking unit it is. The front is both subtle, yet… Read more

bold in it’s statement. The controls clear, obvious and very easy to follow, but I digress, the beautiful finish of the exterior is on challenged by the very roomy, super shiny stainless steel bowl. Easily for looks, it scores a 10 out of 10. This is a sexy machine!

So, a quick, note: Very Important step, when your unit arrives. There are 4 transport bolts and hardware you must remove. This also releases the power cord, which is suitably long, without being a nuisance. The drain hose, well, that leaves a tad to be desired. My sink is on the left of the washer, and it reaches, but not with any spare really. I know this is in part to ensure proper functioning of your washer, but maybe another 10-15 cm?

The socket set employed, the transport bolts and stoppers removed, the washer was balanced. This is simple. If it rocks, feel under the front for the foot. It adjusts and even has a locking nut, swish!

Water connected, cold water connection only! Yup, this baby heats your water. So even heating the water, it uses a piddling 255kWh per annum for a 4/6 Star rating. Impressed. This is no doubt a part of the fact this gorgeous beast, uses inverter technology. Now, I am not the brightest, but I do know that inverter technology in air-conditioners, clothes dryers and now washing machines, is a good thing, as it uses a lot less power to achieve the task at hand. They are also a lot quieter.

Transport bolts - Check. Water - Check. Drain - Check, just. And POWER - ummm . . .

The manual says lightly press the on/off button. I did, it didn’t. After a little trial and error, it is about 2-3 secs. By the way, 5 sec or more, takes you into the WI-FI setup. Yes, I said WI-FI. I did ask WI, but we will look at that later.

For those playing at home, the water usage is incredible. 5 1/2 Stars out of 6, using a miserly 64L per wash. Full disclosure, where I live, water is very cheap, but every little bit counts.

So<on to a load. Dirty clothes - Check! Washer turns on - Check, yeah see above. Laundry Detergent - Ummm . . . Hang on, gis a sec . . . .

Not very clear in the manual, I know, read the back of the detergent pack, duh! Really, 30ml. Like, what I have a a nip when I drink my single malt whiskeys on the rocks. OK.

Detergent in (had to check that manual again . . . oops, far left section. The right hand ‘front’ one is softener, the top right (yeah, this is just full of surprises), that is for a pre-wash solution.

Let’s keep this simple, while I read up some more, have a cupola and let it wash. Basic, cotton load. Didn’t touch the temp, spin speed or such. You can set and save these for specific load types. In fact, remember I said WI-FI? well once you connect, you can download wash programs. Like I haven’t got enough to learn, sanitise, bedding, durable. And more! This might need a second cuppa, or maybe even a stronger tipple.

So, the preset options, selected by that sexy as round dial. Rotate it and the little light moves. It also has a very loud confirmation ding. I’m fine with it, being partly deaf, but my adult son, he is not a fan. But again, I digress, the choices are:

Cotton, Synthetic, Delicate, Towels, Bedding, Refresh, Express 15, Allergy, Bulky, Durable, Spin and the aforementioned downloaded ones. That’s 12 individual wash cycles, just to start.

There is a sanitise wash that will kill 99.99% of bacteria!

I did have to get up and check, as the Haier is very quiet. The spin cycle makes a little more noise, but definitely a lot quieter than the top loader.

As you load, on specified load types, the washer weighs your load, to ensure it isn’t overloaded. But a general guide is 6 inches from the top of the inside barrel.

A very easy to read display keeps you informed of how long the washer has to go. When if finishes, a cute little jingle is played. Again, my adult son is not a fan, but hey, I like it.

These sounds, beeps a temperature of wash, rinse, spin speed can all be programmed for individual loads. The spin at 1200 rpm does a very good job of getting water out of the clothes, but 1400 is better, if your clothes can handle it.

The WI-FI setup was fairly easy. I cannot really see myself using it, as it is more directed to, in my view, to those who work, want,to,set the load to start when they leave work and have it finish as they get home. Definitely stops the smelly clothes in the washer all day, musty smell. There are other options, including a record of how many washes the unit has performed. Why? I have no clue, but again while I am a tech person at heart, it’s not a feature I personally think I would use.

The Haier has the usual safety feature for front loaders. Door lock, which can be based on water level, operation, heat of water. But the manual covers pretty much every possibility you can imagine. Including how to get in if there is a power failure.

Then I was stopped and intrigued. Whilst unpacking, I had seen a small flap at bottom right, of the front of the machine. This my dear friends is the pump filter. It is user serviceable. It is easily accessed, cleaned and re-installed (watch out for the water that WILL be released). My laundry is outside so, not problem, but don’t say you weren’t warned. This is also a step if the machine is running and there is a power failure. The Haier 7.5kg Front Loader, should usually simply resume from where it left off, but sometimes, not everything lines up. But they cover this clearly.

So, a week and a bit later, how does this still gorgeous, sexy washer from Haier bode?

I am sold. I wish I had changed to a front loader years ago. The ability to define wash temperature, rinse temperature, spin speed. That cute little tune it plays, even the WI-FI, which I honestly still don’t use.

This is a brilliant machine. Quiet. I am still amazed at how quiet it really is. The laundry is washed perfectly every time. It is clearly gentler on the clothes, as there isn’t the reliance on the impeller beating the clothes.

The power usage is well within what the responsible consumer would expect. The water usage a lot less. Having sat with a cuppa, I thought about the top loader, 77L to wash, empty, 77L to rinse, empty, whatever it used in the spray rinse. The Haier HWF75AN1 7.5kg Front Loader washing machine, nowhere near that amount.

Still the gorgeous, sexy black console gets me.

Overall, this is an exceptional unit. Cold wash, hot wash, a quick 15 cycle, temperature options, spin choices. What more could you want? A sanitising wash, Anti-Baterial Treatment, to stop those stinky smells.

A quality product that does what it says, does it effectively, efficiently and most of all quietly. It looks good, is easy to operate, offers near endless options.

The only maybe let down, is a friend with a front loader suggested I keep the door slightly ajar, just to prevent mould. So, I’ll do that.

A smart washer, for a smart era.
