Hair Colosseum: Today, in the morning, I visited this hair salon and had a very disappointing experience. The blow-dry was rough and harsh which was uncomfortable. The stylist also burned my scalp with the hairdryer. They did say sorry at the time but then moved on quickly. When I explained that my scalp felt sore, I was told it was fine and not… Read more

red. Although I had already paid, I decided to leave in the middle of the blow-dry, but they insisted on finishing the service. Later, I again mentioned that my scalp still hurt, but I was repeatedly told it was not red. I was also told I could go somewhere else if I wasn’t happy, which felt dismissive and unprofessional.

False advertising, misleading the public. I have been going to the Burwwood store for over two years. Have been getting the same package. Came to Chatswood store to be told the same package I would be paying $280. The website clearly states the… Read more

packages, prices and lists all the salons ( clearly advising the only store that is not part of the chain is Blacktown) The staff at Chatswood said the packages/prices start "from" and are not fixed. This is contrary to what the website advertises. There is no mention of the wording "packages from" I asked to speak to the manager/ owner and was told they are overseas. I will be reporting this matter to NSW Fair Trading.

Follow-up  · I want to inform everyone reading my review that I reached out to the owner of the Colosseum hair salon chain and did not receive a response. It's disappointing that an Australian business lacks proper customer service options to address concerns.

I should have known better. My regular hairdresser was booked out, so I went to Seven Hills to support another local business — and what a mistake that was. I had hair halfway down my back and asked for a French bob, shoulder length. I even provided a photo of myself with the exact cut, in case they were more visual. Turns out they were neither… Read more

visual nor qualified, because I walked out with a shocking pixie cut. The only thing that saved my fringe was me telling her to stop cutting. I’ve never left a salon feeling this upset. This wasn’t a small miscommunication it was a complete disregard for what I asked for. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values their hair.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this salon and would strongly advise others to stay away. I went in for nano treatment and, from the very beginning, the staff were rude and dismissive. comments like, “Do you want it or not?” instead of actually helping me understand the service. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! During the appointment, they were extremely rough with my hair and at times it genuinely felt like they were pulling it out. It was painful and very uncomfortable, and no one seemed to care or check in to see if I was okay!! The manager, along with another worker with long dark hair, were both disrespectful and unprofessional throughout the entire visit, especially the worker. Overall, this was a stressful and upsetting experience. No one should have to feel rushed, disrespected, or physically uncomfortable when getting their hair done. It is absolutely not worth it. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I would not recommend this place to ANYONE

Their new branch at Grove Square The Hills opened recently, and my experience there was honestly awful. I had my haircut three weeks ago, and I’m still frustrated every time I think about it. It was a Thursday night during extended shopping hours. There were only a few customers in the salon (three seated with four staff in the store). Another… Read more

customer walked in with me and asked about her treatment and pricing. The two staff at the reception desk couldn’t even give her a consistent answer and eventually just threw out a price. This was during their promotional opening period, where the basic package wash + haircut + blow-dry was advertised as $55. I asked about this because all I wanted was a simple cut: my hair was just past my shoulder blades, and I wanted it cut to shoulder length with some layering. I even showed a photo for reference. To my surprise, they changed the price and told me mine would be $65. I agreed anyway and took a seat.

The staff member who greeted me said I would need to wait for the hairdresser, which I was fine with. However, all the staff seemed overwhelmed and already struggling. While waiting, the same staff member offered to wash and shampoo my hair first. Sure... I agreed. That’s when things became uncomfortable.

She had long acrylic nails and barely washed my scalp. She only washed the ends of my hair repeatedly and then suddenly asked if I wanted a hair treatment. When I asked what type, all she said was, “A short one, just 10-15 minutes.” I said okay, and she immediately added that it will cost $85. I was taken aback but reluctantly agreed. Throughout the wash, my scalp wasn’t properly cleaned once, I was lying there with my scalp so itchy and water kept going into my ears. After the treatment, she gave my hair another rinse, half-dried it, and sat me back in the chair with my hair still dripping wet. It soaked through my shirt, my back, and the chair. Then she told me she needed to go to the bathroom and asked me to wait.

When she returned, she suddenly began cutting my hair, which confused me because she originally said another hairdresser would be cutting it. Still, I went along with it. I told her I wanted shoulder length. She cut the tiniest amount off one side and asked if that was okay. I asked her again to cut it to shoulder length because my hair was still a lot passed my shoulders. She cut a little more but still not to the requested length. When I asked a third time, she replied, “This time better be the length because I’m not cutting any more after this.” I was furious. I had clearly repeated my request, yet somehow I was getting attitude for HER inability to achieve the length I asked for.

Meanwhile, the customer who came in with me finished her haircut and paid. They charged her $140. She left, and suddenly my hairdresser stopped cutting my hair mid-way to ask her colleague about the price. When she realised the customer was overcharged (should have been $70 during the promotion) she wanted her colleague to run out and find the customer. The two of them stood there arguing for 15 minutes, then MY hairdresser rushed out of the salon to go look for the customer… leaving me sitting there with half my hair cut.

10 minutes later she came back alone, grabbed her phone, and told me she needed to call her boss and would “come back soon.” At this point, I had already been in the salon for an hour and a half for what should have been a quick haircut. None of the remaining staff acknowledged me or offered to help. One was still arguing, two were busy with other customers, and no one seemed to know what was going on. The whole situation was unprofessional and honestly chaotic.

Eventually, the hairdresser returned with the customer and gave her the refund, which was the right thing to do, but it also shows how inconsistent and unclear their pricing is. Every staff member seemed confused about services and costs.

When she finally resumed cutting my hair, the second half looked nothing like the style I requested. The cut felt rushed and uneven. By the time she was done I was there for more than 2 hours, my hair had already dried naturally because I’d been waiting so long, so no blow-dry was needed. She did apologise for their argument, and while I appreciated that, the overall experience was extremely negative. I left feeling disappointed, uncomfortable, and honestly shocked at the lack of professionalism. They seriously need to get their act together.

Over the past three weeks, my scalp has been extremely itchy, I’ve developed new dandruff, and my hair quality has noticeably declined. I’m very dissatisfied with whatever products they used. I will not be returning to this branch or any of their other locations in Sydney.

As she did even better than I thought it would be? I highly recommend this lady for a haircut or colour you need? Believe me you will not be disappointed. Saw the sign at the entrance to the Chatswood store advertised a cut, colour and half head of foils was from (and even the “from” was hard to see) $75. Sat down and was quoted $245. set a negative tone. Honestly, interactions like this can ruin a customer’s entire experience. Unfortunately, the service didn’t improve beyond reception. The hairdresser was equally unprofessional—constantly arguing about my child’s slightly tangled hair rather than approaching the situation with patience or care. As a young child learning to manage her own hair, this was a sensitive moment, and instead of encouragement, her confidence was completely shaken. She left feeling scared and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, we were charged for a full styled haircut when only a basic straight trim was done. My child had clearly asked for a simple, manageable haircut, but the result reflected a lack of skill, effort, and attentiveness. Overall, the experience felt rushed, unskilled, and unnecessarily unpleasant. It’s not surprising that many chairs were empty. I would not recommend this salon, especially for children.

None of the staff that touched my tresses were qualified and the manager Jacob was the most unprofessional person of the day. which is saying a lot considering one of the staff members swore while putting on my cape and I swear i was almost scalped while being blow dried. I even asked if there was part of my scalp on the brush as my hair was being pulled so aggressively.

NEVER will I return to this salon, and I will be advising all that will listen what a horrendous atmosphere it was. Not that I think the owners care, considering he was complaining in front of clients that someone had sent a negative review about his professionalism and that they 'were just jealous'. Typical narcissistic behavior.

my chin. She said that would be too much, but I told her I still wanted it. She was also being racist, she told one of her co workers to go do the 'Indians' hair. It was not necessary to call them Indians. After maybe 10 or so minutes, she called me over to take a seat so I did. I saw her turn away and she blew vape out of her mouth which was highly unprofessional as I am under the age of 16. I ignored it and told her where I wanted my hair cut. She started cutting my hair and I thought it was fine. She did cut it a bit shorter than I wanted it. She then started my face framing, she did a terrible job. She did not cut it where I wanted it to be cut and the face framing was very blunt. It was just chunks of my hair being cut, not nice, blended face framing. She was very quick with my hair which is why I believe it looked bad. After I got home I noticed that the back of my hair was very uneven and not a straight line. I also payed $45 for this haircut to receive these results.

How deceptive when you pay for a treatment it’s for the full length of your hair not just roots. Then when she blow dried my hair it was not smooth at all I said the lady last time used the the GHD to give me more volume and to smooth it she then told me oh then that will be another 20 dollars I told her forget it that’s not what I was quoted and what happened last time then she started huffing and puffing under her breath sooo unprofessional. I had had a wonderful experience the week before with Mary and thought I would come back to this salon weekly , not any more, also the hair colour used was very low quality I can always tell when I couldn’t sleep all night because my scalp was so itchy but maybe this is because she left it on for so long but be careful from this deceptive place unless you get the right hairdresser management should know about the bad attitude of this lady.

This is the most awful hairdressing salon and staff. Do not go there, do not spend your money there. I had a terrible experience here this morning. I came in for a simple trim and some foils, but the owner’s behaviour was shockingly unprofessional. The whole interaction gave off nasty, uncomfortable vibes, and I’m genuinely glad I trusted my instincts and left as soon as I could. No one should be spoken to like that or pressured into expensive add‑ons they don’t want or need. I definitely won’t be returning.
