Purchased this hand grinder to use with my cold brew coffee pot. It's container holds the exact amount I use in the 1.2L coffee pot and its ceramic conical grinders make short work of the coffee beans, also being ceramic I expect a very long life from the grinder. It comes with a lid to cover the beans whilst grinding preventing spillage and also the removable lower glass jar has an additional lid to keep the grinds fresh. It is simple to use requiring a little elbow grease and compared to my electric grinder requires no clean up after use, nor stuck grounds in a chute.

Fantastic Hand Coffee Grinder – We used to get our beans ground where we bought them. For the first 2 days the coffee was wonderful - then day by day the flavor went downhill. So at the recommendation of the coffee bean supplier I purchased the Hario grinder and guess what? Fresh tasting coffee every time! The only negative is that it is quite tiring to do the grinding by hand so now I'm looking for an electric grinder. The problem is that a good one will be expensive, esp. compared to the Hario. :-(

Purchased in for $50.

Happy with this grinder – I bought this grinder to have an extra one in case of power failure or else to take with me when camping. The grinder is easy to use and setup. When it is set to a fine grind, it might become a bit harder to use especially holding the container steady while grinding. Recommended.

Purchased in at Alternative Brewing for $109.

Good hand grinder – I bought this to determine whether fresh ground coffee really was superior to buying pre ground, and I didn’t want to lash out on an electric one first. OMG, it certainly is! As soon as I’d had my first cup, I knew there was no going back, as the richness and depth of flavour and aroma was so much better. The ground coffee is excellent. The grinder itself is sturdy, fits nicely in the hand and has a stout handle, easy to rotate. But adjusting the grind size is a bit tedious, as you have to detach the handle, move some part around, and then reattach the handle. Not something I would want to do often. The glass container is pleasingly robust and the cap for it useful for storage if you have ground more than you need. But as for grinding by hand… I got tired of it fairly quickly. I drink 2 cups daily, occasionally 3. And though there is some pleasure in doing the actual grind, it palled after a couple of weeks. if I knew then what I know now, I’d have gone straight to an electric burr grinder. As it is, I bought one and stashed this away. Perhaps for holidays or perhaps I’ll use it to grind hard spices.
