Brilliant! – I'm a trade qualified serious DIY'er and used this for a gate and privacy screens which are fulltime in the sun. All were merbau hard wood with a previous coat of Cabots Timbercolour. Cleaned, sanded, wiped down then applied two coats of Solashield low sheen in Colorbond Ironstone. Runs off the roller and brush so easily, settles really well,… Read more

finishes beautifully, and the depth of colour with low sheen offers a super crisp and high quality finish. Dry time was as stated on the 10L bucket, I recoated after 2hrs as per instructions.

I can also get nearly double the painting time before I have to refresh the roller or brush compared to more viscous products like Duraguard. Resene Lumbersider (although more $$) is the only contender I'd put in the same ball park for ease of application, finish, colour depth etc.

Goodbye (in the order of quality) Resene Lumbersider, Solver Duraguard, Wattle Solagard, Taubmans Sunproof, Dulux Weathershield, and Cabots Timbercolour.

Haymes Solashield is the real deal and I'm actually embarrassed I didn't try this brand earlier than I have.

Great paint – Haymes is the best paint I have ever used. I have been a furniture maker since 2004, and used Haymes for work and home jobs and never had a problem. It does take a little longer to dry than others on the market, but its the difference of 24 hours for Haymes to 12 hours for some others to be totally dry, or 2 hours to 4 hours before recoat. In my… Read more

opinion this is the only thing anyone could reasonably say is bad about Haymes and it is really nothing for the quality difference between Haymes and anyone else.

Its easy to apply and not get runs, it sands well, it lasts for a long time, it looks good, and on and on.

I have no interest in Haymes. After rereading this glowing review, I thought I should be clear. I just hope others get the best job by using Haymes.

Would never recommend Haymes Paint to anyone!! – We Built a new house 3 years ago which was painted internally and externally with Haymes paint We have had all sorts of trouble since. Most of the internal walls were repainted Due to marking as even the smallest of marks were not able to be cleaned without ruining the paint We have just had the local Victorian Haymes Representative out today to… Read more

examine the deterioration of the outside of our house which was painted with their premium Solashield. We have mould growing on most of our veranda posts, peeling of paint and EXTREME fading The representative tried telling us that there is no guarantee for fading !The product claims UV resistant! He suggested that I wash the posts more regularly. I would of thought that a 3 year old paint job would have had held up better than that . I was also told that everybody has different standards( referring to the condition )??? The product info clearly states UV and Mould (of which I have both) resistant as well as cracking and peeling paint. We now Are Waiting to see what Haymes comes up with For a solution if anything . Very disappointed with the products and a company that will not warranty their own Products’s claims . Do your research and Use another reputable brand.

A new lease of life – I tried the Haymes Solashield product as a freshening up for both render, external woodwork and fascia. I was unable to establish what had been put down before (type of paint) and was glad that the very creamy Haymes paint went on without any problem whatsoever, after some initial scraping of flaky areas and some crack filling. It is easily… Read more

diluted should you need (follow the instructions on the can) and is easily rolled and brushed. The finished product is excellent and several months later although early it is still looking "the bees knees".

Mystery of the bubbles – Haymes Solashield Satin is a product I have used a number of times. Lovely to use and has great qualities, and looks great. However It, as with other solashield products, is prone to mysterious little bubbles springing up once it dries. Its almost a neat little party trick. But doesnt make customers very happy when they werent expecting a bubbly wall. Show details

Amazing results - will never bother with other brands again – Thrilled with the results from the Haymes Solashield. We'll be getting our very old exterior timber work - gates, garage doors, fence etc replaced in time, but I couldn't bear looking at the very old peeling, powdery paint and rotten wood any longer, so I bought a tin of Solashield in a soft charcoal colour and with only a very light clean and… Read more

sand am amazed at how good a job the paint has done! The wood was literally rotten in some areas, but I slapped the paint on knowing it was a short term 'disguise'. Could not believe how quick and great it was to work with, self-levels beautifully, creamy consistency giving fantastic coverage and virtually smooths and seals as it goes. And a month on, it I still can't stop looking at it! I painted timber side door, 78 year old carport doors, old rotten timber letterbox, and metal 1940s steel gate and fence rails. The neighbours were stopping and commenting and even thought I'd bought a new letterbox!

Easy clean-up, low VOC, Australian company - why wouldn't you?!

great coverage – great paint to use, loved the coverage even though it was a very light colour had no issue covering existing paint colour, creamy consistency. will never go back to weathershield again after using Solashield, easy brushing and cutting in, rolling the bagged rendered walls was very easy, paint dried nice and evenly, would recommend.  Show details

Paint started bubbling within a month – Got a painter to repaint my whole house. Unfortunately selected Haymes Solar shield for external paint. Paintspot was promoting them heavily (comes with a 20-year guarantee). Good that I chose a different brand for internal paint (no issues at all). Haymes Paint started bubbling within a few weeks. Contacted Haymes, they are trying to wash… Read more

hands saying the prep may not good, or may be moisture. Initially they thought it was a DIY job. It was done by a painter, and can't find fault with his work on the other areas (where different brand used). On closer examination small blisters almost everywhere exposed to sunlight. Still waiting for a proper response from Haymes. May be a bad batch?

Excellent sheen level compared to colorbond – This paint self levels beautifully more like a water based enamel than a normal exterior paint. The main reason I would rate this is because I was repainting my fascias and gutters to match my new colorbond roof and the shine and colour match to my roof was perfect. Thanks haymes and the guys at Bristol Erina Shine the same as colourbond A bit thinner than normal exterior paint I've used
