Heat & Glo 550TRSI

It worked well for the first 8 years, now I have to have it serviced every year due to intolerable fan noise and intermittent ability to be started. Time to get rid of it and replace with something of decent quality. Unfortunately this one was not cheap at around $5k, so will never go near this brand or anyone that sells them. Show details

Jetmaster to gas conversions-Fantastic – Thank you Jetmaster for years of warmth and fabulous service! We have two Jetmaster units, a 1050 & a 700 which were initially wood-burning units. They qualified the length of the flue (which wasn't the full length) and suggested rather than the inconvenience of getting a trade person to fit an additional length, they offered to make up a small bracket which would catch that odd puff of smoke from entering the room. I was amazed and very appreciative of their support and willingness to do this, despite having purchased the two units from a retailer / dealer. The bracket worked a treat and surprisingly at no cost. That's amazing to receive such service and support these days.

Well done Jetmaster in Richmond. Staff and service was exceptional.

Never purchase Heat&Glo – Extremely poor customer service. Glass of the fireplace exploded. Quality of the glass and fireplace is very poor. The manufacturer will not take responsibility for poor service. Never trust what they say. Show details

Worst heater ever – My parents bought this heater 2 years ago and have since passed away. I am selling their house and this heater is the worst thing ever. The fan broke. My mother had cancer and the thing had to be reset every morning to turn it on in the middle of winter. Has never worked properly from the day it was installed – Fire place overheats and electronics shut down. Very complicated to use remote. Can only be run on low heat as electronics wont work. Cant turn off if too hot. Now shuts down for no reason. Will relight after several minutes. To night. Nothing works. Turn on. Pilot lights and then shuts down. The fan noise will drive you crazy – We had exactly the same problem as Mitch with a new Heat n Glo i30 Supreme. The fan noise is ok when you turn it on initially but would gradually get louder and louder until it drives you to distraction. with the increase in noise and told us they would replace the heater. This didn't happen and instead we received the same letter (as Mitch) from Hearth & Home (USA) stating that it was acceptable and would not be replaced. Not acceptable to us! The heater is essentially decorative only as we can't tolerate turning the fan on due to the noise.

Support in aucland nz - non existant – Have continually left messages for warrantee action - all promises of action have never happened. DISAPPOINTING for a heater that is young, only used at night and is the main heater for our living area.

Terrible – We have Heat & Glo Supreme 130 never worked properly since we had the unit. Manufacture is no help they don't know how to get the unit to work either since their parts never go bad. Unreliable igniter unit – I purchased a Heat & Glo SL 350. Sure it pumps out the heat but unfortunately it is unreliable. You will need to replace the pilot light igniter unit every 18 months. Heat and Glo does not stand behind their parts and will not give you a guarantee as to how long they last. Spend your money on a more reliable brand.  Show details

Yes it cost almost $5000.... expected a significantly better product. Made in Taiwan - because they have really cold winters there!!! I would choose a product from Canada for my next installation.

The fan is so noisy that my ears are ringing when I go to bed. This has been looked at several time but no change to the product has been available - I was told that this was normal operation. The salesman said that the fan was just needed in the initial stages of heating but this did not prove to be correct. If the fan isn't on there is little or no heat in the room.

Definitely stay clear of this product!

been replaced twice. The ignition unit has been replaced and have been told the fan will need replacement soon. This is all standard apparently and for a heater that is only used once or twice a week in the colder months (we have central heating also) I'm not really impressed. So this heater will cost you.

Quality investment – Although this brand was more expensive than others I'm very glad that we invested a little bit more into our fireplace that we use on the daily in winter. it heats an enormous area and hasn't needed a service in the entire 6 years that we've had it! Awesome product, looks great and very efficient. Hard to believe it can heat the whole front of our – We have had our unit 3 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. It looks and works like it did the day is was installed. Showroom staff were excellent to deal with and the installation was painless. Rubbish! – If you are thinking of buying a gas heater avoid this piece of rubbish at all costs. I'm just sorry that I didn't do more research before buying one. Any heat it provides goes straight up the flue, instead of where it should be directed, that is to heat a room. Negative – I had probs with this heater but the worst part was Penrith Gas Shop. I cant beleive they are still in business, they are worse than terrible to deal with. They dont care if you have problems... dont help out and are arrogant beyond what you can imagine. Buy a Heat n Glo by all means but DO NOT buy from Penrith Gas Shop. To add to this, as I go through another winter having to kick myself for buying it, the convenience functionality is also very poor. Horrible from day1 – this product is faulty. Never lights manually or by remote. During installation, installer had to come back 6 times trying to get it to work right. heater heats up the fan bearings expand and this allows fan speed to increase and so causes the fan to vibrate . This can only get worse as the fan bearings wear . Heat and glow says this will not affect safety. So will do nothing to rectify problem . I am still trying to have problem fixed. Not good for a so called high quality product.

Customer service – The service on my heater was exceptional. The serviceman was prompt, polite and informative, incredibly thorough and cleaned both the heater and his work area very well. The maintenance was just a general service as we have never had any problems with the product. All comments and feedback I have read are pointing to a faulty pilot light if you ask me and all JetMaster sorry Victorian Fireplaces are getting out of this is service calls for us dummy purchasers. I know there are bigger things going on at the moment, but we have all be taken for a ride. I would not recommend this to anyone - but yes it does look pretty so I will give it two stars. Poor product - poor warranty – Had our SL-350 for 4 years. Heats the room well but be prepared for ongoing costs. We've outlayed about 30% on top of initial cost and it's getting worse as time goes on. One year warranty is virtually a waste of time considering the poor components used. Take heed of the reviews.
