Not worth the money – The air filter was good while it lasted which was just over the 12 month warranty period then it started cutting out after about 10 minutes and when l contacted the company all they had to say was "we are only the distributors when the product is out of warranty find an electrician to fix it????? Has anyone out there ever found an electrician who… Read more

would even look at a product like this let alone fix it. Definitely a thumbs down, lf someone buys a product like this they obviously need it and they do not want it breaking down in just over 12 months.

A 300 buck fan – Got the Homedics ar120 and within the first month one of the fans stopped working.I took it back to Harvey Norman and they replaced it. So i run it till it dirty and go to gently blow the static filter coil out with air only to notice its still clean and not much was trapped in the static coil . So i give a second go and yes it was all put back… Read more

together securely the next clean pretty much 99% of the dust is trapped in the flyscreen type mesh filter and none in the paper static element.

Sent emails to homedics stating that i just want to know the voltage that actives the coil.

They will not answer the question as im not supposed to dismantle the appliance .

I sent back i do not need to dismantle the appliance i just want to test if the coil is getting any power at all.

They send back we cannot give the information out you must take the appliance back to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement .I told them i could design and build a better purifier myself using computer fans like theirs, with the exception.I couldn't give a rats butt about the warranty i just am sick of paying $300 for a glorified fan.

This makes me think a lot of air purifiers are faulty and most people woulndt check things out for themselves.

So im in the market for an air purifier again but dont want to buy something that parts become obsolete within a year or so .

Does not reduce dust – Been running the units for pretty much the entire day for 4 days now, have not noticed any reduction in dust settling on funiture and floor. I cleaned and moped just yesterday and already I see dust and small hairs settling on top of things. Dont notice the filter capturing anything at all. Its noisy and dont work.  Show details

Does what it claims and is affordable. Highly recommended – Works as advertised. Fan is noisy on max setting but it is a good indication that the air is being sucked into the unit. Checked my HEPA filter after a week and was surprised to see so much dust collected. Noticed my electricity bill was higher with the unit on permanently on.  Show details

machine is very good – very happy with AT 100 does what it says ...however ...I paid $169.00 for the machine at Harvey Norman the filters are another story ...the stores are not obliged to keep the filters in store, therefore making it very inconvenient if you are relying on the machine especially if you are sick..after ordering a Filter from the HoMedics company , it… Read more

Good value for money – Considering the other options, this product is great value for money. It's not the quietest, but it does have a low setting that is fairly quiet. Thinking of getting another one for other rooms in our home. Overall, very pleased. The HEPA filter is easy to remove as well. Good product.

Great Value and cheap replacement filters – Cost $150 at Harvey Norman and replacement filters under $30 at Homedics website. I only use it at night and sleep easy on setting 1. It seems to warm the room up a little which is great now that it's winter-May 2016. It's now 4 months old and filter looks OK. I used to sneeze in the morning-but not any more. I know you get what you pay for-but this filters the air-what more do you want.

Pretty Good at its job! – Coming in to write this review I was sad to see my model has been discontinued. I know the filters are still available so I'll have to stock up on them now because I find this a really good air cleaner. We have 3 in the house - 2 large and one small - and I think they really do their job, if the amount of dust I find in them when I brush off the… Read more

filter is anything to go by.

One thing really speaks volumes to me. A truck was in our back lane and the exhaust was left running for ages - it was letting out really horrible fumes. We closed all our back windows, but the smell was really toxic and coming into the house. Anyhow, I noticed later that the air purifier in our back room was letting out a horrible acrid smell and I thought it was finished, though most things just stop working, they don't stink! Anyhow, I removed the filter and it was absolutely putrid - it must have absorbed all the exhaust fumes that had got in and kept our air quality acceptable. I couldn't believe it when I put in a new filter and it was good as new! We don't smoke, but I imagine an air cleaner like this might help people who live with a smoker.

There are some things that could be improved - it's not whisper quiet on even the lowest level fan, but that hasn't bothered my family. Also it can be a bit chilly in winter if the part of the cleaner where the air comes out blows at you - but the unit can be turned so the breeze blows away from wherever you are (and that breeze is lovely in summer).

Good things are it's incredibly easy to change the filters, and the filters themselves are relatively cheap, which is great because so often you buy a product and then find filters/parts etc are almost as expensive as the initial purchase.

Such a pity Homedics has discontinued this model, but I suspect their new model/s will be even better than mine!

Great product – Had it for nearly a week and I feel the difference. Hay fever surgery was done on my noise when I was younger but only worked for a while. This just made it all better. Converted – I was extremely skeptical about getting these type of products because some say they don't work, others swear by it. I've been a chronic victim of hayfever, blocked noses, unable to sleep well at night. I didn't want to spend a lot either just to test whether this product would work well or not. I've had surgery on my nose (Septoplasty) to correct… Read more

my septum which worked well for the first couple of months however my nose would then just start getting blocked again. I decided to give it a go and -

after trying it for a week I can honestly say WOOOWW. I wake up with a clear nose and a really really good sleep. The only downside I wasn't used to the sound of the fan on the first night however got used to it by the 2nd or 3rd night. It isn't as loud as people claim it to be on these reviews.

I honestly do recommend it to those who suffer from the same symptoms as myself, however it is NOT a substitute to vacuuming. Hopefully this helps!

Third Time Lucky! – We have not had much luck with air purifiers. The first one we bought was perfect but when it came to buying a new filter, we discovered the company had gone out of business. The second one we bought was a salt therapy one which while it is good for my husbands sinuses and he doesn't get so many infections, it does not do much for me and house… Read more

dust is still affecting my asthma - no matter how much we vacuum the bedroom carpet, I am still sensitive to it.

So we purchased the Homedics Professional HEPA Air cleaner, we bought the larger model and tried it for the first time on Saturday. After just a few hours of it being plugged in, we could already smell the difference.

Last night I put it on for two hours before we came to bed and set the timer for 12 hours and the difference is remarkable. I usually wake up wheezing as I am allergic to dust mites but this morning it was like breathing in fresh air and I had no asthma symptoms at all on waking.

Good points: It has only been two days but both of us are seriously impressed. We are still running the salt therapy one beside my husband at night so he is still getting the benefits of that but to be honest, it is the Homedics one that is making the biggest difference to me.

My asthma has much improved already, the room smells clean, the filter only needs changing approx every 18 months and even when you do buy a filter, they are affordable.

I will say though, being somewhat cautious I shall order my new filters now because you never know in the future if there could be any issues in ordering them. As I said - one company went out of business and we now have a machine that we can't use as there are no replacement filters for it. (Not that I think Homedics will go out of business but it can't hurt to have some spare filters anyway)

Bad points: It is huge! But that's fine, it is not an ugly machine and as long as you have it 6 inches away from the walls on a raised flat surface it's all good. I have just minimized the clutter that I have by my bedside cabinet to make way for it and it doesn't look too bad at all.

It is noisy on the second highest setting so we have it on the lowest. I would not say it is 'whisper quiet' but we can sleep through it with no issues at all.

Other than that, we are really pleased with it and can highly recommend it.

Affordable choice! – I have been looking at different brands of air purifiers but end up I found Homedics is the most affordable air purifier with the most general functions. speed make a loud noise. I place it in my medium size bedroom and i couldn‘t accept the noise of medium/high fan speed whenever i am awake or sleeping, so i only use the lowest fan speed in bedroom.

As i said this product is affordable and very cheap, i do not expect too much but it really works and cleans air which is my only purpose to buy a air purifier, so i don‘t really mind the matter of noise.

You get what you pay for – With the few different types of Air Cleaners on the market the HoMedics Professional is at the affordable end of the spectrum, and there is primarily two reasons why. 1. The unit is quite simple, essentially a fan, filter, housing, and some push buttons. If I could have found a square box fan at a cheap price I probably would have built my own… Read more

unit.

2. The noise level I would estimate at the lowest setting is around 40-45 decibels - probably not a noise I would take notice much at work, but I would say it is definitely louder than my pedestal fan at home. Light sleepers may struggle to sleep with the unit running but I'm pretty confident that I'll have no trouble as I typically sleep with my fan running anyway so the noise should blend into the background.

I recall reading that another person got additional filters with their purchase, that wasn't the case with mine. I've got the air cleaner running in the bedroom to help remove dust etc from the air as I seem to wake with a bit of a stuffy nose in the morning - I change all of my linen weekly (including vacuuming the mattress, changing pillows every few months etc) so I'm hoping that the unit will help to give me a good nights sleep.

The timer is a nice feature along with a reminder to clean the air filter (with a vacuum). I recall seeing that the filters should last for 18 months in a reasonably clean room so running this unit is also quite affordable as the filters aren't very expensive to purchase.

Seeing this was a low cost purchase if it doesn't seem to give me too many benefits I wont mind. If I do see some benefits I might look to buy a better unit and relocate the HoMedics to another room of the house (potentially loungeroom) to help with dust minimisation.

Good, & in an affordable cost bracket – A very affordable cost. The timer is very handy (essential), and overall the unit appears to be well built. Like most of these systems, when it is on hi-output the noise is like that of a small vacuum cleaner. It should be noted that the it is also quite large. Nonetheless it does seem to clean the air well. Mould and dust was our issue. For the cost, I would recommend, at least as an experiment.

Working air purifier – This machine does its job. We have a baby who's nose we believe was affected by the house dust build-up. We put this cleaner into bedroom and the child now sleeps much better. The downside that this device is far from silent even on lower settings. So not the best solution for the bedroom at least. Good value. a bit noisy for a bedroom.

Glad I got it – Writing a review because I rely so much on other's reviews - it is a tad noisy on the higher settings, low setting is fine, it has reduced the dust in my room but not good for a big area, its good shape size and colour. Toxic Smell – I am not sure if it was the particular unit I had - but this thing let off a huge amount of VOC's into our house. might go over a period of a number of weeks however I did not want to find out. Even after the smell is gone poor quality plastics can still offgas.

The unit was far too noisy on anything but the lowest setting (and I live on an 8 lane hwy!) and I had my doubts about how well the air was being cleaned. We unfortunately do not have as large a range of budget air purifiers to choose from in Australia as available in the USA.

I was hoping this would 'do the job' to save me having to spend big money on a better solution but unfortunately not suitable. Thankfully the Good Guys refunded straight away. Cheap. Not too big. Reasonable looking. Let off toxic chemicals. noisy, questionable filtering ability.

Pretty ordinary! – This machine is advertised as "whisper quiet". Not sure how the manufacturer can get away with a claim like that considering I can hear it from 3 rooms away on the lowest setting! There's no way I could sleep with this switched on. As for does it purify the air, who knows! It's probably as effective as it is quiet... Small compact very noisy, no way of knowing if its actually cleaning the air

Great Product – Excellent, quiet, effective product. Elegant design too. I initially didn't think the HoMedics brand would out-compete Samsung, but the Samsung product was expensive and clunky. Happy to purchase this one! Filters are only $20 and the Oreck product is apparently terrible. So definitely try this product and see if you like it. Quiet, effective No handle (minor)

This is a fantastic product for the price – I have only owned this product for 24 hours but I can already say it is probably the best $125 I have ever spent. operate. There are three buttons to use - ON/OFF, Power Level(low, medium, High), and Timer which allows you to set the Air Cleaner to turn off after a period of time. Options for the timer are in 2hr increments up to a maximum of 12hrs.

* Will be very easy to maintain as the HEPA filter is very easy to access when I eventually have to replace or clean it.

*Also came with a remote control

I purchased this item yesterday and admit that I did not hold high expectations but I had to try something.I have a two year old daughter who recently spent four days in hospital suffering a severe asthma attack and I am certain that our house played a major role in it as it is old, damp and dusty.

Yesterday she began showing the exact initial flu like symptoms and wheezing that preceded the attack and I was sure that the Easter Bunny was going to be delivering our eggs to the hospital this year. After running the Homedics Air Cleaner on full power all yesterday I could notice the difference in the air quality and more importantly my daughters symptoms have subsided and she has had the best nights sleep that I can remember. It has far exceeded my expectations and I have no hesitation in reccomending this product to anyone looking for an air cleaner that works and doesn't cost thousands of dollars.

Happy Easter. It does everything it says it will and is a fraction of the cost of other alternatives Nothing yet.

I haven't seen anything like it before – I live in the UK and have suffered from severe hay fever plus other allergens reactions all my life, I have been taking citirizens tablets every spring and summer seasons for ages but it didn't help the nose itching, blocking, watery eyes at night when the fan is on, sneezing and whizzing. The severity of my case meant that inside my entire… Read more ·  2

nostril used to be covered in nasty blisters, sores and swellings nearly every month during the peak of summer and it used to affect my concentration and focus. Doctors have sent me to specialists for allergens testings endlessly without any tangible results and I have been given a variety of different allergy medication but to no relief.

In 2012 I researched online and discovered experts advice on an indoor air purifier. I bought this Homedics hepa air purifier ar10 model and first thought it was another waste of money but started to notice the difference within few hours. My symptoms have never returned since for the past 5 months and bizarrely I give this unit an occasion kiss to say I love you. I checked the filter after 2 months only to surprisingly see a huge build-up of a thin layer of white-cotton-like stuff deposited on the filter including my own hair. I do not have any animal and I live alone but amazed at the deposit and I started questioning myself why didn't I buy this unit ages ago and why my doctors didn't give me the advice all this time? The dust on my furnitures significantly reduced by 80%..

I've realized that allergens I suffer were possibly more indoors rather then out door as I spend most time indoor. I still take citirizen tablets only for out door protection but I've reduced the quantity because of this air purifier and I would not take any citirizen tablets if I didn't have to ever go out door. It's very low on the number one setting and it is fast at cleaning the air. I couldn't ask for a better air purifier.

My electric bills have never shown any difference. I operate it with a different 24 hour timer and use a tooth pick to keep the switch button pressed down so the timer can regulate how it functions. It runs ON every one hour fifteen minutes follow by an OFF one hour. If I wanted to go out I switch it OFF by pulling it off the mains. I also adapted the filter by covering the hepa filter with a light thin layer of towel which pre-filters the air and stops all large airborne debris from entering into the main filter as this extends life of main filter. I would recommend it 100% to anyone without any reservations. Excellent The handle is a bit not convenient

I feel it is helping him but cannot say 100% if definitely due to this machine or due to the fact that we moved house to get away from the environmental factors that were triggering the allergy, saying that his condition has not got worse so maybe it is assisting and keeping his condition from deteriorating.
