Not worth the money
The air filter was good while it lasted which was just over the 12 month warranty period then it started cutting out after about 10 minutes and when l contacted the company all they had to say was "we are only the distributors when the product is out of warranty find an electrician to fix it????? Has anyone out there ever found an electrician who would even look at a product like this let alone fix it. Definitely a thumbs down, lf someone buys a product like this they obviously need it and they do not want it breaking down in just over 12 months.
A 300 buck fan
Got the Homedics ar120 and within the first month one of the fans stopped working.I took it back to Harvey Norman and they replaced it.
So i run it till it dirty and go to gently blow the static filter coil out with air only to notice its still clean and not much was trapped in the static coil . So i give a second go and yes it was all put back together securely the next clean pretty much 99% of the dust is trapped in the flyscreen type mesh filter and none in the paper static element.
Sent emails to homedics stating that i just want to know...
Does not reduce dust
Been running the units for pretty much the entire day for 4 days now, have not noticed any reduction in dust settling on funiture and floor. I cleaned and moped just yesterday and already I see dust and small hairs settling on top of things. Dont notice the filter capturing anything at all.
Its noisy and dont work.
Does what it claims and is affordable. Highly recommended.
Works as advertised. Fan is noisy on max setting but it is a good indication that the air is being sucked into the unit. Checked my HEPA filter after a week and was surprised to see so much dust collected. Noticed my electricity bill was higher with the unit on permanently on.
machine is very good
very happy with AT 100 does what it says ...however ...I paid $169.00 for the machine at Harvey Norman the filters are another story ...the stores are not obliged to keep the filters in store, therefore making it very inconvenient if you are relying on the machine especially if you are sick..after ordering a Filter from the HoMedics company , it took 6 letters asking where my filter was and took in Total 15 days to receive a new filter at a cost od $29.00 and another $10.00 postage the company advertisers that it take up to two days to be disp...atched from warehouse it should take another Two days to reach my address, after making a phone call as my letters were ignored I was told they were moving and what exactly did I want, I want nothing from them but an apology for their rude attitude toward me after taking my money and giving me BAD service, they felt I was entitled to my opinion and too bad that they were moving. It cost me to buy a very expensive machine as I could not wait any longer for the filter....what a shame that they treat the customer so badly ...makes you think before buying and doing more research on the company.
Good value for money
Considering the other options, this product is great value for money. It's not the quietest, but it does have a low setting that is fairly quiet. Thinking of getting another one for other rooms in our home. Overall, very pleased. The HEPA filter is easy to remove as well. Good product.
Great Value and cheap replacement filters
Cost $150 at Harvey Norman and replacement filters under $30 at Homedics website.
I only use it at night and sleep easy on setting 1. It seems to warm the room up a little which is great now that it's winter-May 2016. It's now 4 months old and filter looks OK. I used to sneeze in the morning-but not any more.
I know you get what you pay for-but this filters the air-what more do you want.
Pretty Good at its job!
Coming in to write this review I was sad to see my model has been discontinued. I know the filters are still available so I'll have to stock up on them now because I find this a really good air cleaner. We have 3 in the house - 2 large and one small - and I think they really do their job, if the amount of dust I find in them when I brush off the filter is anything to go by.
One thing really speaks volumes to me. A truck was in our back lane and the exhaust was left running for ages - it was letting out really horrible fumes. We closed all our ...
- True HEPA AT75AU
Had it for nearly a week and I feel the difference. Hay fever surgery was done on my noise when I was younger but only worked for a while. This just made it all better. Price point is fantastic and isn't heavy on your pocket. It's great to know that the filters last up to 18 months and you can either clean them or for great potential, replace filter with a new one. I bought 2 more filters so I don't have to worry about replacements for the next 54 months!
I was extremely skeptical about getting these type of products because some say they don't work, others swear by it. I've been a chronic victim of hayfever, blocked noses, unable to sleep well at night. I didn't want to spend a lot either just to test whether this product would work well or not. I've had surgery on my nose (Septoplasty) to correct my septum which worked well for the first couple of months however my nose would then just start getting blocked again. I decided to give it a go and -
after trying it for a week I can honestly say W...
Third Time Lucky!
We have not had much luck with air purifiers. The first one we bought was perfect but when it came to buying a new filter, we discovered the company had gone out of business.
The second one we bought was a salt therapy one which while it is good for my husbands sinuses and he doesn't get so many infections, it does not do much for me and house dust is still affecting my asthma - no matter how much we vacuum the bedroom carpet, I am still sensitive to it.
So we purchased the Homedics Professional HEPA Air cleaner, we bought the larger m...odel and tried it for the first time on Saturday. After just a few hours of it being plugged in, we could already smell the difference. Last night I put it on for two hours before we came to bed and set the timer for 12 hours and the difference is remarkable. I usually wake up wheezing as I am allergic to dust mites but this morning it was like breathing in fresh air and I had no asthma symptoms at all on waking. Good points: It has only been two days but both of us are seriously impressed. We are still running the salt therapy one beside my husband at night so he is still getting the benefits of that but to be honest, it is the Homedics one that is making the biggest difference to me.
I have been looking at different brands of air purifiers but end up I found Homedics is the most affordable air purifier with the most general functions. It comes with a remote control and a very user-friendly control panel.
However the noise level of the fan speed is its shortage which noise-sensitive people may concern. Medium and high fan speed make a loud noise. I place it in my medium size bedroom and i couldn‘t accept the noise of medium/high fan speed whenever i am awake or sleeping, so i only use the lowest fan speed in bedroom.
A...s i said this product is affordable and very cheap, i do not expect too much but it really works and cleans air which is my only purpose to buy a air purifier, so i don‘t really mind the matter of noise.
You get what you pay for
With the few different types of Air Cleaners on the market the HoMedics Professional is at the affordable end of the spectrum, and there is primarily two reasons why.
1. The unit is quite simple, essentially a fan, filter, housing, and some push buttons. If I could have found a square box fan at a cheap price I probably would have built my own unit.
2. The noise level I would estimate at the lowest setting is around 40-45 decibels - probably not a noise I would take notice much at work, but I would say it is definitely louder than my pedestal...
Good, & in an affordable cost bracket.
A very affordable cost. The timer is very handy (essential), and overall the unit appears to be well built. Like most of these systems, when it is on hi-output the noise is like that of a small vacuum cleaner. It should be noted that the it is also quite large. Nonetheless it does seem to clean the air well. Mould and dust was our issue. For the cost, I would recommend, at least as an experiment.
Working air purifier.
This machine does its job. We have a baby who's nose we believe was affected by the house dust build-up.
We put this cleaner into bedroom and the child now sleeps much better.
The downside that this device is far from silent even on lower settings.
So not the best solution for the bedroom at least.
a bit noisy for a bedroom.
Good value for money
Its very quiet even though some reviews say it isn't it may have been the old models that were loud but new ones are very quiet didn't even noticed it on, it came with 2 spare filters which adds a value of $40 to the purchase, from the first night on I noticed the difference in the smell of the room usually when im back into the room from the bathroom in the middle of the night I notice the stuffiness in the room but this time it was fresh and clear.
Good price compared to most units, spare filters included
Hepa filter is not the highest grade,
Waste of money
I purchased this in the hopes it would lower the amount of dust and help clean the air of cigarette smoke in my room.
Not really sure if its cleaning the smoke out, but it has had little to no effect on the dust building up on my expensive electronic equipment. I could walk around the room with the vacuum on and holding the nozzle up in the air and it would do a better job. In 18 months, or whenever the filters stuffed, it will be going in the rubbish bin.
Doesn't work as advertised. Wouldn't recommend it. Junk.
Hopefully it's cleaning the smoke out of the room lol.
Doesn't do much else except make noise
Glad I got it
Writing a review because I rely so much on other's reviews - it is a tad noisy on the higher settings, low setting is fine, it has reduced the dust in my room but not good for a big area, its good shape size and colour. I like the timer settings - and its easy to use. Worth the price I paid, which was $149
The look and its easy to use
Highest setting is noisy-ish
I am not sure if it was the particular unit I had - but this thing let off a huge amount of VOC's into our house. When you are purchasing an air cleaner / purifier this is the last thing you would want.
I left the unit running for 24 hours near a window with the hope that the smell would go - but it didn't. It is feasible that the smell might go over a period of a number of weeks however I did not want to find out. Even after the smell is gone poor quality plastics can still offgas.
The unit was far too noisy on anything but the lowes...t setting (and I live on an 8 lane hwy!) and I had my doubts about how well the air was being cleaned. We unfortunately do not have as large a range of budget air purifiers to choose from in Australia as available in the USA. I was hoping this would 'do the job' to save me having to spend big money on a better solution but unfortunately not suitable. Thankfully the Good Guys refunded straight away. Cheap. Not too big. Reasonable looking. Let off toxic chemicals. noisy, questionable filtering ability.
This machine is advertised as "whisper quiet". Not sure how the manufacturer can get away with a claim like that considering I can hear it from 3 rooms away on the lowest setting! There's no way I could sleep with this switched on.
As for does it purify the air, who knows! It's probably as effective as it is quiet...
very noisy, no way of knowing if its actually cleaning the air
Questions & Answers
I have got Homedics AP25Au air purifier.recently i changed its hepa filter because light turned on, after that i tried to reset the button many times but light didn't turned off.when i press hepa filter indicater button it control the whole system like turned it on or off and high or low.Any recommendation to fix it will be appreciated.
GOOD LUCK with that, mine did almost the same thing and l rang the company only to be told they only sell them they do not have any interest after that. Hope you do better, mine was a while back. Maybe try them again if they had enough complaints they might have some spares parts now. Sorry l could not be more help.
thanks for your reply
How often should i change the filter and what colour does it go to show me it needs changing ? Does it have a filter light when its time to change?
Hi l only ever had to change the filter once in just over 12 months. l think the light went red. l no longer have the unit as it stopped working just about the same time as l changed the filter. When l rang the company they told me they only import the units - there is absolutely no support or repairers in Australia. Not a good buy at all.
A good unit but is noisy at times. Can hear zellwegger ripple control signals through the fan's coil windings (small beeps then a big beep) echos through the whole plastic body have tried different techniques to quieten it, wakes me up at night. Anyone else have the same issue? A demonstration video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZqlAR7p7dc
We bought this unit 2 months ago and we also have this calculated vibration noise that comes and goes every hour or so. It's like a signal, not a beep as such, just a vibrating sound with 2 short bursts, then a long one then short again. Not sure if it's normal or faulty?
I have a similar problem, it has always made a terrible grinding sound ever since l got it. The unit would be great then every 10 min it would make like a high pitched grinding sound like the fan was catching on something.
