Hi, I have just purchased the Kmart vacumn sealer and when I press the vacumn/seal button, it vacums but then doesn’t seal. It carries on trying to vacumn for what seems likes ages with no signs of sealing at all. It’s brand new, I’ve made sure all packaging is removed, and that the bag is positioned ok etc etc. I’ve used vacumn sealers before so know how it works but this one doesn’t want to seal. Manual vacumn then seal works but air comes out of the bag before it’s sealed so not ideal. I took it back for replacement but the replacement is doing the exact same thing. Is there anything that anyone can suggest that I might have forgotten, yes, I’ve clicked it down to lock, made sure the opening sits inside the tray and left plenty of room. Also checked for creases. Tried numerous things for trouble shooting in manual also

lol, how much more information do you need, I think I’ve been pretty thorough in my explanation of what’s wrong. I did try phoning your 1800 number which wasn’t relevant at all to this. Seriously guys I’d stay away from this product. There’s obviously no intention of Kmart wanting to be of any help whatsoever and the same faults seem to be coming up again and again.

I have just replaced mine with another Anko due to a fault .. I used it on the weekend and it appears this one has a different fault... after sealing one ot two bags the cancel light turns red and the device will not operate ... the only way to make it work is to disconnect power and wait 5 minutes .. so frustrating!! Known fault? Surely I can't have gotten 2 Lemons?

When the air sucks from the bag, if you have ,say marinade in the bad, the juice if leaks goes into tray before it seals the bag

Where can I order bags for this Sealer.

Kmart should sell and stock the homemaker branded bags for this machine. BTW I have returned the Homemaker machine to Kmart and they were efficient with the refund. I have upgraded to a Sunbeam sealer and never had an issue with the homemaker brand bags which work well.

Google which model you want. They vary from about $50 up to about $300 from memory. If you live near an ALDI, they have some coming up on sale. $60 I think.

What is the purpose of the detachable tray? It just seems to get in the way. Is it used when you have the sealer bag in the chamber and then place the tray on top of the bag before closing the lid?

Cav
Cav

My model does not have the removable tray. The purpose is for wet/moist foods that it’s easier to remove then clean. It goes in before the bag, the end of the bag you’re trying to seal goes in the tray.

I used a few bags to test the vacuum sealer but it won't suck the air out although the vac pump is working. Does it requires a special kind of bag because I am using the smooth kind. Tried to use it couple of times with same results. Maybe somebody can help me?

Jenny H
Jenny H

Don't know if anyone has helped you yet, but the bags we got that go with the machine have a smooth and rough side .. the rough side goes up. Maybe it's the smooth bags that are the problem.

Can you sous vide with these bags?

CM3
CM3

sous vide? that translates to under vacuum.

Not sure what you mean by that Stu.

Perhaps you meant subdivide? That is put in several pieces and then seal?

Yes you can, however if you cut the seal, they are all separated and unsealed.

tismet36
tismet36

Hi Stu, I know what you mean. There isn't anything specifically written on the box about heating, however it would be under quite low temperatures, so I can't see why not. The plastic bags are food grade of course. Worth a try I guess.
