Very underrated and fun to drive – I've had Honda Citys with manual transmission as company lease cars ever since this model was introduced in 2015. Can't speak highly enough of them. Fantastic cheap car. Very responsive and nice sounding engine and as others have said with great fuel economy. Also has a sporty gearchange with good shift quality. Unlike many cars the claimed fuel… Read more

economy is definitely achievable in the real world and it doesn't have a great effect how you drive - whether you drive gently or hard, city or highway the fuel economy always stays within a narrow band. Great fun to drive and much better than an SUV in that respect. All in all over 4 or 5 of them I have probably accumulated 450,000km. My latest one is currently at 165,000km. Great sized boot and interior space utilization. Very practical and have taken it on many camping trips.

The only downsides are that after around 80,000km the seat trim and carpets can deteriorate and on manual transmission models the "check vehicle" warning light for the hill assist / stability control can come on randomly. This is a common fault and all vehicles I've owned have had the warning lamp issue. Just ignore it. It seems to be unfixable and doesn't mean these systems have failed.

It's a great pity that Honda Australia are no longer selling this model

Disappointed in lack of extras – Purchased HONDA City top of range in January 2018. Prior I owned Holden Cruze not top of range. Many thing lacking in HONDA City that is considered regular in other cars. Eg. No automatic headlights. No display on dash to show if car is overheating/oil light etc. no adjustable seat belt. These were things I discovered after purchase and… Read more

Should have bought a Jeep – I bought my very first new car, a manual Honda City in August 2017 from Southside Honda South Brisbane and from the start it has had a major fault in that up to 3 times, 95% of the time I or my partner drove it and slowed down or turned a corner or reversed out of the garage an alarm goes off with several error lights coming on that once… Read more

including traction light, info light, engine fault light etc. This can occur up to 3 times each time I or my partner drive the car, the beep and lights are so frustrating. The car has been taken back to the Southside Honda dealership at least 4 times over the 9 months for repair and has never been fixed plus numerous phone calls, emails etc. A representative from Honda Australia was supposed to meet me at Southside Honda this last Fri and didn’t even show up or call. Shows their level of non service or care. We’ve had two weeks in 9 months without this error occurring. My and my partners way of driving has even been blamed several times for this error by Honda Australia despite errors showing up on their computer system when hooked up. My partner had a brand new manual 2005 Honda CRV from new and has never seen this error before and I have also been driving the same CRV since 2008 to 2017 without that same error ever occurring. Today Southside Honda offered an insulting $10,000 buy back price (they got an employee to call me and the manager didn’t even have the manners to call me himself) for a brand new car I bought in good faith for $18,800 new that is a lemon. How insulting is that. We cant even sell the car now privately as the person test driving the car will see the error lights and run for the hills plus I could never do this to anyone anyway. This experience with Southside Honda and Honda Australia has been nothing short of disgraceful and we will NEVER buy a Honda again after today. We ask for the full amount of our Hard earned $18,800 be given back to us so we can buy a new car from another brand i.e. jeep, that is not a lemon. They have wasted so much of our time and the car is getting older and the more and more time we waste with Honda nothing changes. I also have health issues and this is causing so much stress and exhaustion that I’m struggling even more with my health. We also have small children to think of, what if these errors are dangerous safety faults and one day this car severely injures or kills our family. Honda cant even find and fix the cause of the error alarms and lights and don’t seem to know what’s going on. 9 months is more than enough time for Honda to do the right thing. I am now going to the Ombudsman to take this further. Please don’t make the same mistake we did and buy a car from Honda as you could be in exactly the same position as us, promising to fix it and NEVER being able to so you’re left with a brand new car that’s a faulty lemon and no money left to buy another car and potentially putting our lives at risk.

Bargain! – Honda city is a great mid sized sedan packed with features. I bought the manual and found it to be more responsive than the auto, with enough power to cruise the city streets. Features include reversing camera, touch screen audio, cruise control and day time ruing lights. Plenty of space for 4-5 adults. Cap priced servicing is moderate with service intervals 10,000klm or 6 months.  Show details

Comfortable and reliable car – I bought this car over 3 years ago when it first came out in 2014 and am happy with the car. Smooth when driving and interior design is good. The rear seats and boot space are very roomy. Rear camera is standard which is good to have, and comes in handy when reversing. Didn't think I would get use to the reversing camera, but it's a great feature… Read more

This is a great car – This is a great car. I've used it for short and long trips. It's not the most silent car I've owned, you can definitely hear the engine even from inside of the car. The interior is very comfortable. There's so much leg room on the back seat and the driver's seat. My fuel efficiency is around 8.0L/100km, and I use it for trips around Sydney urban and suburban areas. I highly recommend this car.  Show details

Love my Honda ! – I Love my Honda City . BUT ! There are just two thing I do wish it had ! One ... automatic lights , I miss this feature ! Two .... Seats in back that go down . This is a disadvantage especially if you’ve had a car in the past that had this ! Apart from these two issues this car is really great. Easy to drive & handle. I love Honda to deal with & am very happy to go back to one .  Show details

Bloody quality car!! – Driving quality stands up against many other types of cars currently available. It has a smooth take off and holds a good speed under cruise control. $40 a week for fuel but that’s for 600-650kms which is really reliable. Only issue that I can think of is little rattles that can’t seem to be found in the interior of the car, coming from dashboard  Show details

Horrible Infotainment System – Don't allow the marketing of the Infotainment system to sway your opinion in purchasing this vehicle. The system is HORRIBLE. When you get past the bundle of cables required to connect, you have to download an app from the Apple App Store - have a look at all of the 1-Star reviews and comments on this app. It doesn't allow you to use your native… Read more

Apple apps (iTunes, Maps, etc...) instead it has its own apps which are just crap. It has a GPS app, but it will cost you $120.00 to unlock it, or it dies in 7 days.

Lots going for it but not without faults – Drives well. Handling is good for a small car. Reasonably quite. Economical. Some very good design features - large boot, excellent back seat room, reversing camera, good seats. Some not so good features - back window not so good for vision, limited leg room in front seats. Reliability so far good, but only done 20,000 klm. Servicing every 6… Read more

months is a bit over the top this day and age. DId have a shudder in the front brakes on steep decline at 80 klm per hour. Seems to have improved (may have picked up a rock).

The most disappointing aspect of the car is the paint work and the poor quality of the plastics. The paint is thin and hard and as a result is prone to chipping and scratching. The paint under parts of the bonnet leaves a lot to be desired - just grey undercoat (car is darker blue).Mitsubishi were renown for thin paint, but the paint on our Pajero Sport is far superior. The plastics (especially on the doors) are very easily scratched. Honda has traditionally been perceived as high quality cars but you can see the cost cutting on the City.

Service above and beyond – Honda city were a pleasure to deal with . They found me insurance way cheaper than what I would have got elsewhere. I couldn't get time off work so they brought the car to me I don't need finance but they had a great rate on offer. Thanks so much honda  Show details

The Honda City is a great little car – About 18 months ago I updated my car to a Honda, and I couldn't be happier, I needed a car that would be reliable and fuel efficient as I drive a long way to and from work every day. It is a comfortable car to drive and consistently gets excellent fuel economy (18 km/l). It's got all the modern things you can want in a car (blue tooth, hands… Read more

June 5th 2017 Update: Excellent car

Excellent little car, just what I wanted.

Fuel consumption I get about 800/kilometers or more per tank full, probably more if it was all highway. And the reliability of a Honda

Comfortable to drive and quite zippy for a 1.5 litre engine. I didn't think it be this good as a automatic transmission.

Very Happy!

Excellent little car, just what I wanted. Great fuel economy, easy to drive and comfortable. After my last car, this one is the best decision I made.

The automatic transmission is great for stop start kind of traffic particularly in busy traffic, the shift changes are smooth. Great car exactlywhat I wanted.

Clever choice – The car is very easy to drive, the seats are excellent. Love the interior, except I would have preferred the interior to be much lighter in colour than boring black. Engine a little noisy when starting off, but otherwise very quite. The suspension is very good for a medium sized car. The leg room is amazing, and the boot is huge. The vision in… Read more

this car is excellent compared to a lot of new cars. I drive our new car very gently, and am getting excellent fuel consumption figures of around 4.9 to 5.2 litres per 100 kms in the country. The exterior design of the body and interior is very clean, practical and functional. This is the second time we've bought a Honda, and have found both cars to be quality built. I would recommend this car.

Very sleek and good looking – Honda City drives so smoothly and quietly on the road and feels light to maneuvre. It has an excellent body contour , comfortable leg room, and quality interior fittings that makes it look so luxurious. It's also very economical on petrol. One problem is the use of a smaller sized battery which could go flat in a shorter time than normal if you… Read more

For tight fits – Been very happy with the Honda City one of the best cars I've had. Why it is good getting into tight fits as I have a narrow garage and as a sedan it fits nicely in. Easy to manage the car as its a part of me when i'm driving, you end up getting to know it like as if its your best friend and it maneuvers very well. Had installed rear camera… Read more

with maps after buying the vehicle, not through Honda service department as it was to expensive, so I got a local specialist to install a rear camera with maps to the dashboard inside the car. Replaced the old dashboard where the radio-air conditioner is. Made 100% difference in my parallel parking and good for safety as well especially for pedestrians when reversing on to roads or from my carport.

The interior is good velvet and plush seating and chrome door handles, fogs lights and not too much plastic look so its more eye appealing.

Does not cost me much for servicing as I have a mobile mechanic he checks everything and I keep the car clean myself vacuum the interior and clean inside then wash/wax outside the vehicle. This saves a lot of money if you do it yourself.

Had bought some add on to vehicle and they didn't cost to much by the dealership.

good car – excellent car for city usage . Service intervals should have been at least 15000kms . Its been reliable with no problems . I would suggest getting a good mechanic from outside ( after doing a through research ) and then giving your car for service outside as Honda service is a little bit expensive .  Show details

Perfect car for family! – This car have lots of space not just the legroom but also the boot. We do lots of travelling so we do need lots of space for our luggage. The running cost is very efficient, there's an option of using eco where the fuel consumption can become low. Not regretting to buy this as a family car!  Show details

Perfect little car – It has been nearly 5 years since we purchased our 2010 Honda City and didn't have any issues. Very fuel efficient and economical.

Very good reliable car – The car was purchased 3 months ago, first of the MY15 in my region. Bought it because it was nice looking, economical and 'different'. It uses barely any fuel and the touch screen is a nice touch, although it is very sensitive. The CVT is average but one of the best I have driven, still not a fan of the CVT idea myself.

A good A to B car – Hello from Malaysia! I'm an ex Melbournian student, and thought I'll share experiences with my 6 months old 2014 Honda City since both Msia and Aus units are sourced from Thailand. Pros: Quiet engine; enough power for a daily commute; smooth CVT transmission (almost no elastic band feeling for now); great fuel mileage (8 - 10 l/100km intense… Read more

daily city traffic); miles of legroom and trunk space; Great equipment for its price (it's comparable to bigger cars for toys and interior size); very complete safety equipment across the range (which is a rarity in Malaysia); No rattling, and nothing's broken yet.

Cons: Ride is too firm, going over large road undulations is like having an accident; for a Honda it's a dull drive, no VTEC mojo here if you're a fanboy; I had the top spec with the fancy screens, they were real fun at first, now they're just dust magnets; Dirt and dust are very clear against interior plastics and seat fabrics; The paintwork has strong orange peels, and isn't as lusty as Japan made cars (ie. 20 year old Land Cruiser shines better after wash); Reverse sensors are a tad too sensitive.

Truthfully I bought it thinking it'll be the perfect compromise to being a family car and a secret driver's car. It's certainly a versatile little family and work commuter, but it's miles from fun the likes of the Ford Fiesta and the

Mazda 2.

Very happy with car - not the service though – I had wanted to upgrade my car for 3 years. I waited til both hubby and i were happy with something. did. I rang them back and was told it would be fixed at the 1000 service. They fixed it.

However the dents came back. I have tried to get them to fix it again in another service they didn't, placed a complaint with Honda, placed another with the dealer i bought it from and still nothing has been done about it.

Terrible customer service, i feel like i have never had that brand new car, disappointed in that aspect.

Services are also quite expensive on the car. Fuel efficient at a 6.3, but i get upto a 5.2 as i dont do much city driving
