Ok, but not what Honda used to be – I've had a few Hondas in my time, from Civics to Integras to Accord Euros. All of them were brilliant for the money: well engineered, fun to drive, and impeccably built. We bought our current CR-V due to an expanding family, and for this purpose, it's great: incredible space inside, comfortable, versatile and well specified for the price. … Read more

However, we have been shocked at the build quality of our car - a Honda no less. In the 2.5 years we've owned it, we have had the following issues: 1. Faulty steering rack (complete unit replaced) 2. Faulty PCV Valve (replaced) 3. Faulty battery (replaced) 4. Grinding noises coming from the front right wheel under load (no resolution) 5. The engine 'cutting out' under load (no resolution)

On top of the above, the overall material quality in the car is very unHonda: cheap and flimsy. In particular, the interior plastics below the dash can literally be deformed with two fingers. I can't help but feel that the whole car was built down to a price, rather than up to a standard.

The infotainment system is also one of the worst I've ever used: slow, laggy, counter-intuitive and eternally frustrating; it's like Honda wants the customer to use CarPlay and Android Auto rather than its own system.

Saying this, the service received from our local Honda dealer has been excellent, and issues have been attended to quickly and honestly.

All in all, I'm sad to write this, as Honda used to be such a great brand...what happened to its mojo?

Too many issues with this car seriously – We bought a crv last year, 2019, as our family car because we were expecting to have our first baby. I consider it a quality car, the look and the feel is premium. I haven’t been using the car much since March this year because of work from home arrangements due to the pandemic. Only time I got to use the car again was last month, November, when… Read more

my daughter started childcare. Problems started to arise and I immediately noticed a clicking sound when steering the vehicle, doing full turns left or right. It was irritating to hear and most times you feel it on the steering wheel when it occurs. Another major problem I had with this car, which really made me nervous because I was with my daughter at that time, was the transmission failures. I already had two instances wherein the car made loud grinding gear noise and stopped moving while trying to accelerate from a full stop. The last thing I would want is my car breaking down in front of me while I’m with my 1 year old daughter. I had with me the dashcam footage as evidence and I brought the vehicle to the dealership for a diagnostic. Customer service from eastern honda was superb and they even paid for my uber fare, 5/5 stars for you, but I was quite disappointed to hear that the steering noise was from a damaged steering rack because the lubrication had leaked and according to them would take a while (like two months) to get replaced since parts will be ordered from Japan. While transmission issue which I’m really concerned about, they said was a normal issue with a CVT when slowing down to a stop and quickly accelerating... I was like, that is normal really?? If I had known about this cvt trans issue with crvs then I wouldn’t have bought it and just went for a different SUV during that time but this was on me for not doing enough research before purchasing. For someone who wants to buy the latest crv models, it pays to research, consider this as sort of a warning. I might just be one of the unlucky ones to get a lemon but please research before buying a crv so that you are aware of the current issues this car is facing. Believe me you wouldnt want to experience the hassle and stress im getting now.

Great car for a the retired couple with a big dog that likes to travel and tow a small camper van – Usage: 1. Everyday commute - shopping, spot & leisure. Great comfort and room for metro and country driving. Good acceleration when needed. Great economy. 2. Easily tows a small camper van on any reasonable road surface. 3. Our CRV VTi S is used every day. 4. Our car is serviced every 10,000kms which comes around more quickly than the… Read more ·  1

suggested alternative of 6 months. It is serviced at the local Honda dealership which does a great job on it and our second car, a Honda Jazz. 5. We have not experienced any mechanical issues other than a recent, nation wide recall to replace the fuel pump - which has been done.

So happy with my CRV – I use my CRV for work and family, it’s got so much room. Love leg room, the folding rear seats and storage space. Good fuel economy and plenty of pep for overtaking. Such a comfortable car I love it. Had two RAV 4’s before and this is better! Show details ·  3

My CR-V – I'm the only user of my car that I drive every day to work and back. Things I love about my car: love the power of the engine, the ease of using the cruise control, blind spot camera on the left side, electric boot, the looks of my car. Things I don't like: every single time you start your engine, you have to accept the warning on your touch… Read more

Exceeds my highest expectations – This CR-V is our second car, the other being a Landrover Discovery. It is comfortable, safe, quiet, fuel efficient, spacious, and well appointed, and it drives very nicely. Current covid-19 travel restrictions have so far prevented us from driving it as much or as far as we would like, and the car is still well short of its 10,000 km service.… Read more ·  1

There have been no problems to report or fix, and we have no hesitation in recommending this model CR-V to other buyers.

HONDA CRV VTI-S FWD – The vehicle is used for family transport and then only on short trips. The car is a joy to drive. The vehicle hasn't had the first 10K service which is due February 2021. Show details ·  1

Nicest car I have owned – I loved the car from day 1. It is smooth and pleasant to drive. Everything functions well and is easy to use. I find the vision slightly restricted at intersections. Show details ·  1

OUR HONDA CRV VTI-S FWD – Private Use - Usually daily - Services come too often. I was told when I purchased my CRV that the servicing periods would be 10,000 km ( or every 12 months) or when the "Honda Engine Oil Monitor light illuminates". In actual fact, the "light" illuminates about every 7 to 9 months. I am a very careful, moderate driver both on acceleration and… Read more ·  1

braking, so wonder why the services come so frequently. I am told that this frequency of servicing is generally not normal for modern/new cars. Other than that, a great car - very roomy, very comfortable, adequate power (1.5 lit turbo), economy could be a little better, great power tail gate, full size alloy spare wheel, CVT transmission very noisy/whiny under acceleration, but at highway cruising no problem. Seats are very comfortable. Our first new vehicle ever (we are in our late 70's), and it was overall, a good decision. We looked at a number of other SUV s and the Honda CRV was a clear winner. Access is ideal -i.e. don't have to go down into the vehicle or climb up into it.

Does the job – Very pleased with handling, economy and power. Only drawback is the wireless, as it relies on this for music and GPS etc - frequently doesn;t work. GPS location is useless And requires service more than I thought (usually $300 a hit) Show details

Best car we have ever owned – We purchased this SUV to serve as our "family car", and have never regretted it once. Like most Honda vehicles, I think the great functionality is due to how much thought went into the design. It has a multitude of different functions which are very user-friendly, because all the buttons etc are exactly where you would expect to find them. Having… Read more

never had forward and reverse sensors before, I now can't live without them because they make parking so much easier. The reversing camera has multiple angles which also comes in handy. In terms of cabin space, it has no more or less than your average SUV. With two baby seats in the back, you could fit a thin person in the middle. Depending on the baby seat you have (some rear-facing recline more than others), this can limit the legroom the front passenger has. Although taller than your average sedan, the entire car sits slightly lower than lots of other SUVs out there (but this is more an aesthetic point). Having previously suffered from back pain, I can attest that the CRV seats are very comfortable, and from a lay-man's point of view, fairly ergonomic. The semi-turbo engine makes accelerating so much easier and faster, and it makes the accelerator of other cars seem heavy and sluggish. The only malfunction I have noticed was that during one drive, the entire display began to flick on and off uncontrollably. It did not affect the sound at the time and the mechanic advised simply turning the engine off-and-on (which did fix the problem). If having trouble deciding on models, I personally would say that the satellite navigation (which is included in the VTi-S) is fairly superfluous, as the car has Apple CarPlay so directions can be accessed via your phone onto the car display (however this is a personal preference). It has required an engine oil change and service (at 8500km), rather earlier than what you would expect, and the mechanics blamed it on the fact that we use the car for "city driving" (which seems to defeat the purpose for anyone looking to purchase a car for shorter commutes).

Break starts making annoying noise after 6 months – Bought brand new CRV VTI-s, after 6 months or so, break started making squeaky noise. Took 1 year service to honda and mentioned that, they actually admitted it is a fault and offered to fix for free but they couldn't fix it, We had to took take car in service 3 times in total for another look and did test drives as well, at the end they said it… Read more

is not fault, and we are asked to pay to fix it. I can't believe the brand new car start having this issue already, and really annoying to driving around now. Not happy and regret to spent over $35000 for faulty car. Will never buy car from Honda.

Great Family Car – We have now done 2000km in a Honda CR-V VTi-S (2WD). This is just a great family car and ticks all of the boxes. It is practical and drives great. I was a bit worried going from a BMW X3 to this car on the way it handles and power. The CVT transmission seems well paired to the 1.5 turbo engine and when you need power it is very surprising as to… Read more

how much this little engine can deliver. We did road test the AWD and the 2WD and opted for the cheaper 2WD option as we only do road driving anyway and could feel no difference between the vehicles.

We haven't encountered any problems and the service at the dealership has been excellent so far. I would recommend test driving one of these if you a looking for a mid sized SUV. You will be surprised how big this new CR-V is!
