After 7 months I am still awaiting a complete Scope of Works. I even received a letter of apology from RACQ their umbrella company reassuring me that they will action the claim immediately but that was six weeks ago! I email on a weekly basis and do not receive a reply. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR. Show details
They had us complete thousands of dollars worth of compliance work the previous year, but when it came time to lodge a claim now, they still denied it. Hard to trust them with your home after that. AVOID Show details
Worst insurance for your home. I have a cover with honey insurance for more than 4 year now and for my 1st ever claim I am so disappointed. I recently had an accident and damaged my garage door. honey insurance send someone from MK3 builders (another trash company) to do the inspection and create a report. Now its been more than a month and I cant… Read more
use my garage door and no one has contacted us ever since then. I have been able to contact the company only a couple of times because of the poor connectivity. No email reply you cant call them nothing. I will not recommend Honey insurance even to an enemy.

Where do I start. The subfloor of my house flooded Melbourne Cup day. Made a claim straight away. Didn't have anyone attend for 3 days and had to pump the water out myself. Said it was a mis-communication. Since then had a number of trades out multiple times to assess. 3 times appointments have been made with no shows, not even a phone call to… Read more
explain why. When chased up there has always been a 'mis communication excuse'. When sent an email I always reply within an hour or so and don't receive a reply for several days. Spoke to them today and was advised that if I send an email I should always follow it up with a phone call as they don't regularly check emails. Issue is everyone you call it's a 30 minute wait on hold. Scope of works regularly missing details and items. The only time you get any traction on anything is when you put a complaint in. This become laborious and tiresome. Been waiting 112 days with no end in sight. Avoid this company if you want any level of customer service, value for money or any level of comfort that in your time of need your insurance company will do the right thing by you.
AVOID HONEY INSURANCE AND THEIR USELESS "NOTION SENSOR" LIKE THE PLAGUE! Signing up with Honey Insurance seemed promising, but the "Notion Sensor" turned out to be a major disappointment. The sensor paired inconsistently and ultimately failed to function at all, despite following setup instructions and replacing the battery. The worst part? Their… Read more
customer service is non-existent. Emails went unanswered, and phone support was unhelpful and disinterested. They offered no solutions or replacement for a defective product that I paid for. Don't be fooled by the low price of the Notion Sensor. It's unreliable, and Honey Insurance does not support its customers after the sale. Save your money and frustration—consider alternatives like SimpliSafe, Google Nest, or Ring instead. STEER CLEAR!
Terrible insurance company – Policy as written is Misleading. Says on one page that my tv is covered under contents insurance and another that accidental damage to tv is not due to not having advanced cover, if it says on one page it’s covered why would anyone go looking for a page that says it’s not covered (47 pages apart). Very sneaky tactics used and I would have to say… Read more
they are one of the worst insurance companies I’ve used. Plus a $97 per month increase 3 months ago and no claim has been made. Misleading and sneaky tactics used to take ppls money knowing that this would trick ppl up

Insurance Premium almost doubled in Year 2 – I had a mini heart attack when I saw my year 2 insurance premium go up by a whopping 82%! My circumstances have not changed and I have made no insurance claims at all. I called them up and they said that there is nothing they can do apart from reduce my insurance cover in order to reduce my premium. I promptly canceled their policy and switched to a new provider. Follow-up · Honey’s own policy states that drains are covered yet they refused to fix my drain and sent an “expert” who refused to believe what I was telling him or even do a visual inspection on the drain itself. After a year of being stuffed around and lied to by Honeys rude and incompetent employees I ended up cancelling the policy. I got an actual expert… Read more
Dr Victor Smith Local Guide·202 reviews·36 photos 5 hours ago New I have had home & content insurance for my homes for over 50 years. Honey doesn't deserve a 1 for review. I had a quarter of a paver somehow end up on my roof, smashing 2 tiles. We… Read more
paid a roofing trademan $1,250 to repair it in early December 2025. After Xmas, we put in a claim through our insurance claiming the water had leaked heavily into our ceiling and onto our air-conditioning head unit and down the inside of a wall between the bathroom & a bedroom, then under the floating floor. Total repairs are over $10,000. Honey (RACQ) Insurance asked how a broken paver broke the 2 tiles on the roof. I told them someone must have thrown it, or jokingly said perhaps a large bird flew over my house & dropped it on the roof. They called me back stating the damage is not covered because an animal caused it. I NEVER said a large bird DID drop it there, just gave options. They have looked at EVERY opportunity to reject my claim. They initially was offered their tradesmen to come and evaluate and quote. I rejected them because I have a qualified builder, roof tiler, electrician, plumber & HVAC trademan who have maintained my house for many years. Honey eventually demanded their trademen attend and inspect my home. They had tradesmen doing reports for areas NOT in the jurisdiction of their trade. A plumber giving a report on roof tiling, when he isn't qualified to do so. Warning to everyone - AVOID HONEY INSURANCE, which is under RACQ.
Follow-up · I forgot to elaborate further with the cause of the water damage. Obviously, the broken tiles caused the damage, but because we were not aware they were broken. We returned from travelling throughout Victoria for 2 - 3 weeks and discovered water inside everywhere. AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority) has been mediating between… Read more

Terrible customer service with no effort made to retain loyal customers since this start ups conception. year cycle. The customer service agents hardware was terrible and hard to make out, let alone he chose to talk over me constantly and offer only that they could devalue our property and insurance summary if I wanted a cheaper rate. What a smart *** reply. Customs service is managed with wishy washy fluff you can just tell, objectively useless. These people are certainly not who they were when they launched. Looking for another provider immediately.

We were hit by Cyclone Alfred in early March. We contacted Honey because of the black mold on the ceiling and found that the plaster was 100% sopping in some areas. They sent a team to cut holes in every wall and put blowers in to dry the walls and ceilings and that is where the service stopped. The builder they obtained a quote from first, quoted… Read more
from other trades' assessments without even having a look and they tried to pay out out for a pittance. We can't fix our house and refused the payout so they sent another builder out from Johns Lyng to quote on the work again and they said they can do the work and agreed that the damage was more substantial than the amount they want to pay out.
Today I have received an email saying that Johns Lyng are unable to do the repairs after waiting 6 weeks for another quote. Apparently they are looking for other builders to provide quotes but this is just taking so long and causing so much stress and agitation.
We can't do the work for the amount they were willing to pay and we have not been given any updates on the quote from Johns Lyng. My furniture has been moved away from the wall to allow access for the last 9 months. I am living downstairs in the back bedroom "bunker" where we sheltered from the storm because upstairs is so damaged. I am beyond upset and these guys are part of Suncorp Insurance. What a way to treat already traumatised people.
Stay away from them , they double and triple premiums with no reason and you’ll just have to move again soon after you join. Waste of time and should not be allowed to operate. Will be writing up an article about this for the media and accc. Show details
First two years no issue with only a minor increase to premiums in year two. Time to renew for year 3 premiums increased significantly which I find suspicious considering they had recently purchased the Notion security devices that you can include and get a minor discount (premiums probably increased significantly to pay for their purchase of… Read more
Notion so questionable you are getting any discount). I moved to a different provider who quoted a premium for more coverage for less than what I was paying in year two
Our home insurance was cancelled for no good reason, they took the time to call and ask how we felt about it to add insult to injury. Never made a claim, or had any claims for years. Go with something budget related is my advice. Show details
We went through Honey Insurance and made a claim after the weather (winds) knocked down our fence. I’m extremely disappointed with this insurance company. They increased my home insurance premium to five times my normal payment, claiming my property is now “high risk.” There was no clear explanation or justification for such a drastic change. This feels unfair and exploitative. I would strongly advise others to carefully check the fine print before signing up. Show details

Honey Insurance is now a rip off – Have been so happy with Honey Insurance up until now. My home insurance just went up by $8922. No claims. General feedback was that is was for inflation.... Worst excuse for a company I've ever had the misfortune to deal with as customer service is non existent. Insurance should be regulated. This company are trying to charge 5297.49 per annum for landlord insurance where other insurers only 1170.55. people trying to get genuine insurance for their properties would stumble upon this and pay, not realising how absolutely ridiculous their pricing is. They should be ashamed of themselves.
