nonstop. I didn’t realize a company could be this terrible. ALSO, BLOCK YOUR CREDIT CARD FROM THEM. They WILL overcharge you relentlessly for services you didn’t request.
unfortunately i only can do 1star, i have professional WooCommerce website, since we start using hostgator service almost everyday website down and ones a week emails are down
Terrible – Hostgator are terrible, do not use! They autorenewed a website that was never built at three times the initial cost with no notice, after taking over $1,000 they cancelled my whole account because I asked for a refund, so I just paid for renewal of nothing for three more years of nothing. Customer service people were horrible. avoid at all costs! I would give them minus 20 stars if I could!
They will lie to you – Just attempted to charge me to renew a service I had cancelled over 12 months ago. The plus side is that the card had been cancelled so they did not receive anything. Avoid - will grab cash before renewal and no refund – This company took money for a whole pile of services I did not want, and did not authorise, on an invoice it created, weeks ahead of when it's own website said renewal was due. It offered no refund. The charges were excessive and the services unneeded. Avoid.
hostgator or hostgrifter? – Avoid avoid avoid I purchased close to $500 USD in services and when it came to light that they do not service my domain type I requested a partial refund or a full refund and was offered nothing. No where did it clearly state they didn't service this domain. Do not do business with this company, they just want to take your money ad do not care about customer service

Money stolen – This company steals your money on a basis that they simply dont cancel the subscription when you ask them to do it. Them they take you for a ride and only after 4-5 attempts and 4-5 hours of efforts and $200 wasted they do it
"Hotel California" with credit card details and auto renewal – I had deleted card details and cancelled all auto-renew in the account profile and though I was rid of them. chat and asked why and they said I had auto renew enabled. I sent them screen shots etc of my account settings showing no auto renew products and the support people admitted there IS NO BUTTON to cancel auto renew, even though nothing is listed in the Auto renew section. They refused to refund me and were unable to remove my credit card details!. He said on his side he has now cancelled "auto renew" but was UNABLE to DELETE MY ACCOUNT. I have asked for escalation otherwise I have to cancel the credit card. In my opinion, this is something scammers would do. Its like Hotel California all over again.

Hostpapa which is way cheaper and better in terms of service. It took close to two months of constant chatting with their customer service team to get them to allow the transfer of my domain to the new provider. Only when I threatened to report them to ICANN did they release the domain and send me the required code. A horrible company that I advise everyone to stay away from it. I'm finally free of the jaws of this Hostgator!
Don't sign up – Gets you signed up for as little as $3.50 a month and then you are expected to renewal for 5 times that.
Avoid at all costs – Charged an expired credit card meaning I had to contact them and my back to get a refund as I'd already moved hosts, tried to force me onto a more expensive plan, were very rude and unhelpful with migration. Would never use again

Dissapointed – It was the worst experience ever! If you paid for added services like Yoast Premium or SiteLog Essentials, they will not reimburse you for them if you cancel your plan within 30 days. I've lost plate number 100 USD! So, you won't get a full reimbursement. Heads up, take care of your money!

Holding on to my domain despite the transfer months ago. Very bad customer service – I transferred out my domain to another registrar months ago but it never fully completed since Hostgator has the domain locked, and any change to this setting won't apply. fees. I tried changing the DNS, nameserver, even did a forwarding from the new registrar but the landing page still lands on a Hostgator wildcard page. I have talked to a couple of Hostgator customer support via chat, who are VERY COLD with their replies. I was told that "the domain has been transferred to the new registrar, go talk to them. We'll delete your domain from our records," then was promptly ignored after. Months in, the domain is still in their records and the promise to delete has not happened. I feel like my domain now is being held hostage and Hostgator still sends emails to renew the domain!!
Extremely dissapointed – Extremely disappointed with the company's lack of transparency and poor customer service. They charged my card without any notification or consent. Avoid at all costs!
Horrible – Absolutely useless I can't say anything other than run away as fast as you can. None of the support people know what they are talking about they just end your session to after wasting your time and providing no help.

The worst hosting provider ever - Go to anyone else (run away) – The worst customer service and support you can ever get. I have a dedicated server with them, which means I pay thousands a year, and I have a ticket that has been open with them for over 2 months. I chatted with them more than 5 times, and they said they marked it as a priority every time. The job they need to finish doesn't need more than 15 min to be resolved. You will regret every moment if you use their service. It's a nightmare.

immediately (after forcing me through a 65min slower than honey live chat to cancel the service). Since they disconnected me half way through my billing cycle I asked for a refund of the excess, and again they refused. I again disputed the transaction with the bank, successfully.
This is after being with HQ for over 15 years. Avoid at all costs. Anyone who forces you through 60min to disconnect a service is a scammer. Anyone who puts an 80% increase on your fee and doesn't notify you in any way is also a scammer and is deceptive.
The PC-Mag people should be ashamed of themselves for how out of touch their review is with the common experience.

whatsoever. I've reached to live chat support, the first time, it says I have to wait for the the case support team to respond, there is nothing they can do. Wait 10 days, nothing comes. I have reached again on live chat, it has been put on hold for 2 hours, with success. So in short after almost one month, the project is not done and all the support team just dead silent. I continue sending the emails to cases-support team and live chat, nothing can be done. Hostgator wasn't like this before. Hostgator services declined so much over the years.

all prices quoted are in USD so much more expensive than they look initially. Do yourself a favour and have nothing to do with Hostgator. I ended up going with a great Aussie Host Clickhost who I have given a 5 star review to elsewhere on product review, do yourself a favour and go with them, they were even as cheap as Hostgator on a 36 month deal.

the mail servers are often blacklisted. HG might seem like an option for a private server or shared hosting, but I'd advise giving alternatives serious thought. I would not recommend HG for business use.

22nd Dec 22, I realised I was frozen out of the cPanel/WHM panel. I approached live help, I didn’t tell them i was frozen out. I wanted to see what they would do or say.
2 HG staff took their time, i asked why can’t i do anything on the backend, they responded, you have exceeded the disk space, you have to delete items. I used to be able to see disk usage for all the domains now, I can’t see that. The staff took such a long time, with no response. I exited and gave a 1 star rating.
I tried again, this time, an English HG staff appeared on live help but remember all this can be faked, [Name Removed] could be [Name Removed]/[Name Removed] responding as [Name Removed]. Finally, I said, I’m from an IT background, I know when i am frozen out of the system by the “super, super admin. How is it possible, I can’t downgrade/upgrade a domain, i can’t delete a package. I can’t change the quota. I can’t add a new customer/domain. This is freezing. HG staff say I’ve exceeded the space, I manually counted how much space i’ve allocated, how much space i’ve used, i have 60gb, I’ve only used 37500mb.” She responded, “please send screenshots”. Trying to make it seem she is helping but all she had to do was login to my whm and she would see the issue, it would be written down in notes, customer notes as well so anyone who is handling the case, would be able to know. She wanted me to send her the domain, so she could add it. Why can’t i add the domain by myself? If i have more customers, that means I have to keep going through live help to add new domains?!
Close to the end, (another hour passed), she said, “ please check in 2 hours.” I told her to inform HG, I have recorded everything and I will be posting on social media. IMMEDIATELY, not even 2 hours, they unfroze my account. You can’t fool an IT person, I know it’s just a click, I know how long it takes to do things. DIRTY PRACTICES to try and cheat customers into upgrading their package.

By 15 Jan 2023, I'd like a full refund of USD$419.40, since i am frozen out from my reseller cpanel and i cannot do anything even though i have so much space left. worse ever since. Prior to signing up I did do some research, how I wish I spent a few more days looking at further reviews.
Hostgators complaints department has been ignoring this case for months and actively avoids answering my emails with sporadic responses to whatever they choose to reply to and ignoring all other.
In addition, it took almost a month to even log a compliant as when I did request this it was entirely ignored by the operator. Some reviews state that Hostgator has great customer service. This is entirely not true. Though their customer service team in India (where they're all based) may be friendly, they continuously struggle with understanding enquiries and have repeatedly exasperated a situation to go from bad to worse due to their inability to maintain promises. Making a complaint is equally if not more so frustrating as their complaints department do not actually investigate the complaint thoroughly and refer to logged conversations for reference. They operate somewhat on an assumption and after weeks of waiting for a reply they may respond to something entirely different.
Their customer service department is also dangerously uninformed in regards to Consumer Rights and even information such as conformation of who their regulating industry body is will be ignored completely or you will receive a response along the lines of they are unable or unwilling to divulge these details.
The downtime is crippling if you are running a business with essential email etc avoid at all costs as not only do Hostgator not provide adequate compensation for this, they even go as far as placing blame directly on the consumer even immediately after it is discovered by another internal team of theirs the faults reside within their own configurations.
I made the dreadful mistake of switching to Hostgator to save $80.00 per year. Now, I would pay $800.00 more if I could have avoided the initial switch.
I encourage everyone to look elsewhere even if they may incur higher costs. Those extra few dollars is the difference between seamless Hosting with great customer service to the polar opposite that is Hostgator
Sold with wrong information and held domain hostage – No phone numbers to call from Australia. I spent two hours on support chat with poor responsee times, to be told that purchasing a domain would include free email. After this, I kept being told to wait 48 hours, wasting critical time to get a new business live. Now, I've been told this was wrong information and that I would have to buy another plan. Additionally, they would hold my domain hostage for 60 days unless I upgraded.

closed more than a year ago.
Came the time for account renewal, HostGator attempted transaction was at first rejected, I did not want to take action or renew the subscription since I have not budgeted for it.
To my great surprise, the bank reopened and activated a closed account, activated a closed credit card and approved the transaction without my knowledge.
When I asked the bank what happened, they could not explain or dispute the transaction.
Long story short, I contacted HostGator and requested that the transaction be cancelled and refunded immediately since there was an error in the part of the bank and explained what has happened, HostGator support personnel were very sorry and apologetic, the refund was processed within 48 Hours.
Shame on Westpac Australia and praises to HostGator.
I will surely return and reactivate my subscription once I get things sorted with another bank.
Good on you HostGator, well done.
