Ripped of by house of travel – We have been ripped of by house of travel who knowingly sold us flights that could never be fulfilled due to Convid 19. They have effectively stolen $7000 from us and seek to profit from the pandemic, the business ethics of house of travel is none existent, use them at your peril!

House of Travel; Equals - Self Interest; Personal Greed and a Total Lack of Customer Service – "House of Travel" is a NZ travel agency company with offices in Australia. We approached them about a holiday to Europe in Sept/Oct 2017..........The disaster which became "the holiday from hell". We were booked into accommodation (in some instances - sub standard) which we did not authorise, they inflated the airline ticket costs by quoting one figure on a per head basis, and charging over $400 (i.e. 25%) more per head, at some hotels, when we arrived, the hotels had no booking in our name, our booking was sub-contracted five (5) times to other travel agencies (of course each taking their commissions along the way consequently, inflating our cost), booked us on tours where the tour operators did not recognise the voucher we were given, the consultant tried to bully us into paying by credit card with a consequent additional 2.5% surcharge being added to the overall cost.............On-and-on "the stuff-ups" continued; to the point we considered terminating our holiday, flying home, and heading straight to our lawyer to recover, the over $16,000 we had paid.
Yes, we took the issues up with senior management who were limpid in the matter. "House of Travel" added NO value to our holiday and caused considerable inconvenience!.In fairness we received minor compensation - not
reflective of all the issues we faced.............We bought a lot of experience using this organisation.
