Appalling service...misleading and deceptive – I too am struggling to give this business even 1 star. When cleaning, I couldn't remove bottom burr of my Breville Barista Express machine so I called Household Appliance Repairs to ask for advice as it seemed stuck. I was told I could leave it with them that day for the technician to look at and service for $54 -which I thought was reasonable. I was told if repairs/parts were required that would be an additional cost and that the $54 would come off that cost. When I dropped it off, I was told it would take 2-3weeks to be looked at and was charged $54 upfront. I was disappointed about timeframe but went ahead as the cost seemed reasonable (though prefer to have the money in my bank not theirs until the job was done). I was assured that the technician would call in 2-3weeks and before incurring further costs and that $54 would come off final cost if any repairs required.

I rang at 2 weeks (desperate for a good coffee!) and was told not 3 weeks yet; again confirmed technician would call first before incurring additional costs. I called at 3 weeks2days and was told it was still within 21 business days but that luckily my machine is already on workbench; technician will call today. Only then was I told that my $54 pre-payment was ONLY an 'inspection and quoting fee' and that servicing will cost $180-200 plus labour/parts if any repair needed. I was unable to get a clear finish date but told the technician would let me know. So.... I called another authorised Breville repair company in northern suburbs who stated they could look at it for free on the spot and then the technician could either service for $99 (2-3day turn-around) or show me at the counter how to remove lower burr myself!

When I tried to call Household Appliance Repairs to cancel the inspection, my calls were immediately placed on hold for 5+mins and never answered. I wondered if they recognised my number and were declining to talk with me. My partner rang on his mobile and they answered immediately. We have arranged to collect our machine tomorrow and they have agreed to refund the $54.

Customer Service is unknown to this company – Ordered my Oven Door Seal on 5th August. Called all three phone numbers on the business card before I spoke to anyone. Only to be told they had no ETA on my back ordered parts.

They lied about the fault – Beware of these guys!!! Took my coffee machine in for a repair and was told it's full on lime or calcium build up so the inside needs replacing as well as electrical damage and will cost $700. I then went to inspect the machine and suddenly the machine is back together. Told him I have a reverse osmosis water filter that even takes out lead and brackish and that the machine still works so nothing wrong with electrical, and suddenly he offers me my $50 deposit back, without me even asking. I said I still want it fixed but I do not believe your technician. He ignored me and gave me my deposit back and then even opened the door so I could get out of the shop.

SO I just notices that all the screws that keep the back cover on the coffee machine, are missing, so I took the cover off and striped everything to look for limescale build up and water damage to the electronics, that allegedly also had to be replaced. AND.... not even a slight bit of built up in the pipes, absolutely nothing anywhere, and not a trace of leaking or water damage anywhere. And they wanted to charge me $700 to to replace all the insides, yet the machine only costs $599.
