HP Instant Ink

i made the mistake of subscribing to this plan after purchasing my HP printer. After 2.5 years of paying for this service i finally came to my senses and cancelled my subscription. I have paid over $500.00 during that time. The company seems to be based in Amsterdam and so there was always an extra foreign fee every month debited to my credit… Read more
card. Everytime i exceeded more than 100 pages per month i was hit with an extra charge. Now that i have cancelled my subscription i can't use the cartridges that are presently in my machine. The company still seems to have access to my printer so i am now trying to work out how i can "seperate" myself from this company. I am also concerned because i have now tried to remove my visa card details from my HP Instant Ink account and there does not seem to be anyway to do this. All in all this was a big mistake and even though i have now cancelled my subscription i still seem to be under the "supervision" of this company. Be careful- the initial incentive of a couple months of "free" printing cost me a lot in the long term.
Absolute scammers. Charged me 3 times amount of $108.14 never received a cartridge had to cancel the plan as they kept charging me now apparently they won’t send me the cartridges that I’ve paid for as I canceled my plan. Absolute scamming criminals

HIjacked by HP Instant ink. Had to throw away unopened ink cartridges because I was locked out from printing because I cancelled subscription. I will never but HP products again.
Acquired a HP Deskjet, acquired a new black ink cartridge, later signed up for Instand Ink. After 2 years of subscription, NEVER needed any new ink. I stopped the subscription, thought I'd see out the printers days with the remaining ink I had. I was unable to use printer. HP said I cannot use the ink cartridges. Even though, both colour and… Read more
black cartridges were purchased by ME! A restarted the subscription to print resolve the issue, but it could never be resolved. I was remotely hangcuffed to pay for my cartridges again. Being an IT Manager, I have to advise people when asked far and wide. Sorry HP, very poor strategy on your part, gave you all the opportunity to rectify the situation.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE TO ANYONE! I was a subscriber to HP Instant ink and recently cancelled my subscription; having paid $427.15 over three years and only being supplied 3 ink cartridges in that time; and only needed to replace 2. My printer has now gone into fault mode saying I can no longer use the ink in my printer. I… Read more
contacted HP who advised I can no longer us their ink without a subscription. When I explained the price I paid and the service not being provided to the value I Paid, they advised there was nothing they could do.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE TO ANYONE!
This sounded like a good deal when I first signed up. For a monthly fee, I didn't have to worry about buying ink cartridges when they were getting low - they would be sent to me before they were empty. When I signed up, the cost was $9.99 per month. Now the cost is $14.99 per month! (Who knows what the charge will be next year - $19.99?) This… Read more
is charged, whether or not you use the ink. When I tried to cancel, it felt like extortion. I was told that as soon as I cancel, the current cartridges will no longer work. I was pretty much told, "pay up or else!" The cartridges were around 1/2 full at the time. However, I have now bought new ones at a cost of over $200 for the set.
Do not sign up to this "service" at all.
I love HP instant ink! I rarely print things, but when I do, I like them to be full page, in colour, sometimes photos too. I used to buy ink myself. I would print documents and photos from time to time, very light printing of text and such. So no matter what, I needed to buy new ink twice a year. The packages were $143.09 for the set on my HP… Read more
OfficeJet Pro 9020e. So thats between $143.09 per year.
Even with the old plans which were $5/100 pages/month, I was only paying $107.88 per year with UNLIMITED ink restrictions. I could save money AND print even more than before. If I printed full page color photos/pictures then I would only get about 20-40 pages from ink carts. I know because I used to print Magic The Gathering Poxies in waves, 9 cards per page. The ink cost at home was so great it that was better to go to staples or kinkos. However with instant ink I could print 50 pages of full colour for just $8.99 per month. And they didnt even have rollover at first. I didn't do this amount of printing every month so after they brought in rollover I could save 100 and eventually up to 150 rollover pages to go CRAZY one month.
They have the $2.99/10 page/month plan which is $35.88/year and I can tell you that even if I do not print for a year or two it's still better to use instant ink because if the ink runs dry or goes bad then I can tell them to send me replacements for free.
Basically no matter how you slice it, the instant ink is cheaper every time.... maybe it is cheaper to buy your own if you only print large numbers of text only pages... But even then I find it hard to believe it would be cheaper. If you have 1 ink cartridge failure that will blow your savings margins if there were any.
Instant ink plans are very unsatisfactory – I have instant ink plan and my printer ran out of ink and I haven’t received any ink from HP which is disappointing as they say when ur ink is running low we send you a new one, I was to do some important work over the weekend and now I have to download and take documents to office works to print. Moreover the quality of ink doesn’t appears to be… Read more
good or the app plays around. I have my printer set up for best quality prints and still it will not print in the quality selected. Very unsatisfactory service. I think I have paid way too much compared to buying ink from office works.
An Absolute Nightmare - Avoid HP Instant Ink! – I would give HP Instant Ink zero stars if I could. From day one, it has been nothing but trouble. The experience has been so bad that I will never buy another HP printer. First off, the customer service is atrocious. It took them a week to respond to my initial issue, and when they finally did, they repeatedly called me by the wrong name and sent… Read more
information to the wrong address. It was a complete mess, and the frustration only continued from there.
The service itself is a rip-off. You pay a monthly fee, but don’t count on receiving the ink you’ve paid for on time. And if you cancel the subscription, brace yourself for more disappointment—your printer won’t work with the HP Instant Ink cartridges you’ve already paid for. It’s infuriating that they disable your printer unless you stay subscribed. This is a blatant money-making scheme with no consideration for the customer.
To make matters worse, my ink cartridge stopped printing color correctly. The printer wasted pages trying to clean itself, and guess what? Those wasted pages counted against my monthly allowance. When I exceeded the limit due to this malfunction, I was charged for extra pages. How is that fair?
HP Instant Ink even charges for pages that don't print properly. It’s unbelievable that they penalize you when their own printer malfunctions.
My advice? Steer clear of HP Instant Ink. Instead, buy your ink cartridges from a store or online retailer where you can pay for what you actually use. Don’t fall for this subscription trap. HP should focus on providing good value print cartridges, and people will buy them without hesitation. Unfortunately, I’ve learned my lesson the hard way—I’ll never buy another HP product again.
Avoid this service at all costs!
