Huawei AU distributed a 4G mobile phone that can't call-Out (or receive call)...a basic function of a phone – I am using Vodafone 4G network & they have recently shut down their 3G network. This phone now can't call-Out (or receive call)...a basic function of a phone. 4G capability was a key-criteria of my purchase: talk of eventual 3G shut down were found on the internet in 2019. Huawei claims that their Y5 2019 has 4G capability: see ‘Network’… Read more

I bought in late-2019 from Big-W, & NOT a 'parallel import'. Huawei-AU approved it for sale in Australia & gave it warranty-> https://consumer.huawei.com/AU/support/phones/y5-2019/
I have tried, 1.different sim-card retailers, & 2.including Telstra 4G network, in this phone & it can’t call-OUT.
Huawei-AU blames Vodafone for NOT-supporting their phone & hence CALL-problem?
Easy to use but not long lasting – My phone lasted less than 2 years. Was good to start but after 12 months ( warranty) the drive kept stopping. Apps stopped working when the drive locked up. Now use it for work as an alarm clock and camera. Back to Samsung.
Could be better – It is OK for a phone. Good for internet speeds, and you get 3840x4320 image 13MP camera quality, but the UI is very, basic and empty. Good for little kids for their first phone. However, it is SOO slow to load up ANYTHING. The 2GB of RAM, in 2019? What the hell? The battery life as well, 3020mAh, sounds like a lot, but it gets used up QUICKLY. I… Read more
see myself going to my charging port every 4-6 hours. Don't get unless you are giving to people with a lot of time or to a young person who won't mind.
Slowest glitchiest unreliable piece of junk I have ever owned – I do NOT recommend getting this phone it is the worst phone ever the camera is crap it won't even focus, I try to exit a app it takes like 10 seconds and same with even turning it off takes ages the storage is garbage, when i try to send videos on Snapchat or Instagram videos in the gallery are just blank white and you can't see what video you… Read more
want, the speakers are also crap, let's say your in bed on your phone and your pillow overs the camera, the screen will go black and tell you to not cover the camera, the camera wasn't even in use probably because its an Asian phone and they must want to see what your doing I don't blame America for banning the crap of a tech brand.
Good Phone – I've had the phone a month now. I moved to the Y5 from an iphone 6 and I far prefer the Y5. I only use it as a phone and for internet and it is fast with no problems. Show details
Got problems – Connection is bad. Apps closes from ram, resets it, phone is... Not worth this money. Now in fix. Everything was good only for some days. Also got problem with cellular data saving.
better than my s8 samsung – my s8 samsung had a dead usb port after two years and it was going to cost $220 to fix it so I bought this from ebay what is missing is stuff I dont use like infrared eye scanner etc what is better on the huawei is 1: ips screen can easily be seen in full daylight. 2: the battery lasts me 3 days rather than less than one day on a single charge 3:… Read more
no bixby button which keeps interfering with every other button 4:flat screen, no accidental opening of apps and screen protector is easy to apply 5:$168 dollars rather than $1000 6:its lighter
what is the same 1: speed - sometimes a little faster, rarely a little slower. unexpected in such a cheap phone 2: dimensions and display area so this phone is much more suited to my needs 32 gig onboard, 2 gig ram the year 2019 is important as previous years had lesser specifications and were inadequate this as bought in australia and has a dual sim and sd card slot https://consumer.huawei.com/au/phones/y5-2019/
Not worth buying – I purchased the Huawei Y7 2019 to replace a Samsung Galaxy S4 which is getting a little long in the tooth. It was difficult to set up and many of the icons differ from standard ones. I installed a mobile SIM card and my wife took it to Indonesia. It was next to useless as she could not get used to it. MY Samsung Galaxy S& is much easier to use… Read more
even though it is much older. I have now replaced the Huawei with a second hand Samsung S7 which is working much better. I would not recommend buying this phone.
Generic responses to research questions – Research told there was wifi calling and the Telstra rural blue tick. There is no wifi calling and the phone has worse coverage than the one it was to replace. Show details
