Easy to use but not long lasting – My phone lasted less than 2 years. Was good to start but after 12 months ( warranty) the drive kept stopping. Apps stopped working when the drive locked up. Now use it for work as an alarm clock and camera. Back to Samsung.
Could be better – It is OK for a phone. Good for internet speeds, and you get 3840x4320 image 13MP camera quality, but the UI is very, basic and empty. Good for little kids for their first phone. However, it is SOO slow to load up ANYTHING. The 2GB of RAM, in 2019? What the hell? The battery life as well, 3020mAh, sounds like a lot, but it gets used up QUICKLY. I… Read more
see myself going to my charging port every 4-6 hours. Don't get unless you are giving to people with a lot of time or to a young person who won't mind.
Huawei AU distributed a 4G mobile phone that can't call-Out (or receive call)...a basic function of a phone – I am using Vodafone 4G network & they have recently shut down their 3G network. This phone now can't call-Out (or receive call)...a basic function of a phone. 4G capability was a key-criteria of my purchase: talk of eventual 3G shut down were found on the internet in 2019. Huawei claims that their Y5 2019 has 4G capability: see ‘Network’… Read more

I bought in late-2019 from Big-W, & NOT a 'parallel import'. Huawei-AU approved it for sale in Australia & gave it warranty-> https://consumer.huawei.com/AU/support/phones/y5-2019/
I have tried, 1.different sim-card retailers, & 2.including Telstra 4G network, in this phone & it can’t call-OUT.
Huawei-AU blames Vodafone for NOT-supporting their phone & hence CALL-problem?

Great for the internet (Sort'a), but useless for its primary task – _HUAWEI Y5 2018_DRA LO1_ Android Smart Phone_ ****Alright fairs fair before I completely dismiss the Huawei Y5 Smart Android as an actual mobile phone, I would like to say it makes for an excellent WI FI hot spot that absolutely outclasses pocket wi fi by speed comparsion , it's quick online connection capability ,and excellent wi to hot spot… Read more
ability is this mobiles key point, and only point.I use this mobile as a WI FI hot spot only, and my reliable but very slow Pocket WI FI is now in the bin.****
But it's primary task as a mobile ? well it fails miserably, and I don't make calls on mine anymore , a real dog of a thing,to put it mildly.
Well some things are smart and quick and some things are even smarter and that much quicker ,take the HUAWEI Y5 Android smarie pants as an example ,it's so smart and the touch screen so senstive ,that you are forever typing and retyping. After finding that the Huawei spell-checker or complete phrase re speller( the worst spell checker ever invented ) wastes your precious time yet again ! so you are forever checking to re edit Huawei's spell checker spelling mistakes. Touch screen too sensitive and too quick with the wrong shape. Huawei obviously have shown some smart innovotation on product releases recently and will undoubtedly get much much better ( ten years ?) in the advanced instant online connection features obviously world leaders, good sound could be better here as well , picture quality ? both Samsung and Apple both thrash Huawei in HD picture quality and photo/picture editing ability (it's only basic) 1440 x 720 wrong screen size and shape, portrait and landscape auto slow switching sometimes freezing really annoying. 2 GB RAM ? Slow az for some reason, memory HD tiny.
Battery life pathetic takes twice as long to recharge after only 6 months ,again Samsung and Apple are far superior to Huawei.
Huawei digital cameras are always a let down ,Samsung kills them in HD picture quality.
Now the fun part , try and make a quick call , forget about it ,the worst mobile ever invented to actually make a call on , the longish screen is a nuisance because you can't lock in Portait/ Landscape mode permanently yourself Huawei conveniently auto magically does this for you, just great if you happen to be typing on the touch screen and bingo its landscape mode again and you clicked on something else and guess what ?, You waste your precious time yet again.Missed calls are a permanent feature of the HUAWEI Y5, your friends will tell you to purchase a new smart phone.
I seriously doubt there would be anyone on this planet who owned a Huawei mobile and who actually answered a call or touch screen dial-ed a mobile number without cursing the dog of a thing after it stuffs up yet again.
As I said ,a great WI FI hot spot but a dog of a mobile
Mobile Calls 0/10 Super fast internet connection speed 10/10 WI FI Hot Spot 10/10
An unusual Mobile the Huawei Y5 Android, the best damn hot spot I ever owned.
Quality Budget Mobile Handset – For under $200 the Y5 2017 is great phone. Pros: 5" Screen - excellent quality for my music videos at 720 x 1280 Expandable from 16gb to an extra 128GB through Micro SD Card. 2 GB RAM is more than adequate to run all programs. Combined with Dual SIM and Headphone Jack & USB. Sound quality is great through built in Mic and speaker. Looks and… Read more
feels good to hold. Bought a Samsung (genuine) HS330 Earbuds with Mic locally for $25 for hands free - feedback is crystal clear for receivers and for me. Many manufacturers are moving away from Headphone Jacks - which is a pity as sound quality through my Koss Portapack Pros is superb. A couple of surprising extras: Built in powerful torch & FM Radio. Good Battery Management. Cons: The Camera is pretty good - not great in low light but not bad under normal lighting. No stabilisation for Video. Keep in mind this a budget mobile. Never-the-less quality is surprisingly good considering price. Marshmellow 6 - unlikely to be upgraded. Overall: Not too shabby. Perfect for old farts like me.
Fantastic for the price – So I grabbed this phone when it was on special a few months back for $45. I just needed to upgrade to a smartphone from my old skool Nokia C6700. Sure, this aint no flagship model with the most awesome screen, rockin' camera & other features on more expensive phones. But it does it job, admirably - namely answering & making calls, texts,… Read more
checking up on emails. It doesn't have a great internal memory so expanding with a SD card is recommended.
Also to note: most/many apps can't be moved to the SD card, so when you have a few apps installed there'll be no space for more. But music & photos will definitely go on the card.
Only a 4.5" screen - which is perfectly adequate for most users.
I recharge about every 4 or 5 days.
One caveat I have found (aside from the lack of space for apps) is when headphones are plugged in the phone taken about 1 to 2 minutes to think about whats going on, then all OK after that.
For the $45 paid, there are absolutely no complaints here.

Good Phone – I've had the phone a month now. I moved to the Y5 from an iphone 6 and I far prefer the Y5. I only use it as a phone and for internet and it is fast with no problems. Show details
better than my s8 samsung – my s8 samsung had a dead usb port after two years and it was going to cost $220 to fix it so I bought this from ebay what is missing is stuff I dont use like infrared eye scanner etc what is better on the huawei is 1: ips screen can easily be seen in full daylight. 2: the battery lasts me 3 days rather than less than one day on a single charge 3:… Read more
no bixby button which keeps interfering with every other button 4:flat screen, no accidental opening of apps and screen protector is easy to apply 5:$168 dollars rather than $1000 6:its lighter
what is the same 1: speed - sometimes a little faster, rarely a little slower. unexpected in such a cheap phone 2: dimensions and display area so this phone is much more suited to my needs 32 gig onboard, 2 gig ram the year 2019 is important as previous years had lesser specifications and were inadequate this as bought in australia and has a dual sim and sd card slot https://consumer.huawei.com/au/phones/y5-2019/
Why Five Y5 – Given 5 stars very practical size the battery way out lasts my previous phone camera gives excellent pictures even in dim lighting so much so that useage as a camera alone is value for money bought this year 2019 as well tried by others previously Show details

Slowest glitchiest unreliable piece of junk I have ever owned – I do NOT recommend getting this phone it is the worst phone ever the camera is crap it won't even focus, I try to exit a app it takes like 10 seconds and same with even turning it off takes ages the storage is garbage, when i try to send videos on Snapchat or Instagram videos in the gallery are just blank white and you can't see what video you… Read more
want, the speakers are also crap, let's say your in bed on your phone and your pillow overs the camera, the screen will go black and tell you to not cover the camera, the camera wasn't even in use probably because its an Asian phone and they must want to see what your doing I don't blame America for banning the crap of a tech brand.
Got problems – Connection is bad. Apps closes from ram, resets it, phone is... Not worth this money. Now in fix. Everything was good only for some days. Also got problem with cellular data saving.
Slow slow slow – Slow phone. Looks good though. It’s slow just to move to the dial screen to type in a phone number. I don’t recommend this phone. Might be suitable for individuals who don’t care if it’s slow and may not notice lag as much. For someone who spends a lot of time on their phone, I don’t recommend it. Show details

Not worth buying – I purchased the Huawei Y7 2019 to replace a Samsung Galaxy S4 which is getting a little long in the tooth. It was difficult to set up and many of the icons differ from standard ones. I installed a mobile SIM card and my wife took it to Indonesia. It was next to useless as she could not get used to it. even though it is much older. I have now replaced the Huawei with a second hand Samsung S7 which is working much better. I would not recommend buying this phone.

Great phone – The Huawei Y5 2018 is a great phone, I use it every day to watch YouTube and play games on it, I haven't had it freeze on me too much but most phones freeze now and then. All my apps work well and with no interruptions. Show details
Horrible android operating system – The android operating system on this phone is terrible, i think that they have tried to make it simple to appeal to the apple market, but all that means is that they took away a tonne of the android features. There is No App Draw button or function and it makes the phone annoying to use. Hardware wise the phone is good. Show details
Don't do it, walk away NO - Run Away – Went into purchase a phone, sales assistant persuaded me to purchase a Huawei. Within 6 months it would not charge. My last Nokia lasted 5.5 years. Took my phone to where I purchased it and they sent it away for repairs to… Read more
Huawei, who phoned me a week later saying it had water damage. I advised it is always kept in a plastic case and a leather case and it had never been in water. He advised me he would get back to me within two days. Next I heard was the phone had been returned to the Store where I purchased it not fixed and stating I had refused the quote. I was never even given a quote. Terrible customer service and terrible phones.
Don't bother – Phone is terrible. Laggy, slow, Not what you would expect in 2019. Absolutely terrible phone. Buy something else. Mine is going in the trash i'm so annoyed at how slow it is Show details
Good backup phone – Huawei Y5 2018 Android 8.0 No home button. Screen is good. Offer sd card expandion With contacts. It is a bit slow to load the names. I am satisfy with this phone with this price Show details
Far better than we Expected! – Thought we'd take a punt after reading reviews - Under $120 AU NEW. Went with Huawei just because Washington and friends are out to 'wreck' Huawei... GPS is very accurate. We use 'Here' a navigation app as opposed to G/Maps. Camera is much better than many other higher level phones. and has many advanced features. her iPhone6 and is selling that to buy a Huawei also. Memory card addition is a big plus We don't play games, so don't care about CPU/ Graphic speeds. However every app runs very well. Looks nice, feels solid, not too bad in sunlight - And fits my work shirt pocket, which is essential for guys. All in all worth way more than the investment. Good one Huawei - You've scored a new loyal customer.
Good for the price – For what you pay for the Huawei y5 you get a good solid performing phone. It's not a flashy as other phones but at 1/4 of the price of the more famous brands. Had phone for 3 months. Good battery life and fairly fast on the internet. Great quality pictures. The Huawei y5 has a lot of features to many to list here. I would recommend this phone to a person looking for a good performing mid range phone. Show details

Affordable – As an older person I always select a new phone that is relatively simple to operate. The Huawei Y5 is just that. It has a good screen I can see in the daylight, has all the functions that I need, however the touch sensitivity of the screen is not that good and the volume does not go very high on the external speaker. Oh well it wasn't that expensive so I guess you get what you pay for Show details
Works good – The phone looks well build nice size the screen resolution is good Picture are ok i mean for the price and i bought on offer for my son is a good deal good brand also there is software update all google services available, good battery live, blue color is nice. Show details

CHEAPPP – I am so impressed with this phone as this is soooo cheap, I bought it at arond a hundred dollar (i forgot) , this is as normal as the other phone, nothing special, everything works normally, especially on internet, pictures and phone calls (normal stuff i’d say) The camera is alright, do not expect too much And hopebthe battery life can be longer, but it’s alright as i got charger Show details
Great but not without issues – This phone did all I needed in today hectic world. I only had problems with data storage, so I constantly had to delete things. Great features and perfect photos. I have constantly dropped the phone too and most other phones cracked the screen but this phone doesn't even have a crack yet. Show details
Good, works, was cheap – My old samsung J1 mini was running out of battery ‘oomph’ so I saw this model in BigW at $108 and bought it. It is dual sim, so easy to set up, and put in a UK sim when over there for a holiday recently. Worked well. It does all the usual smartphone tricks and the battery lasts at least a couple of days. After 4 months, so far, I don’t regret buying it at all. Show details
Spy Phone – Firstly I think I got ripped off at Aust. post since others have paid around the $100 mark while I paid $150. Other than that I thought it a fine item for the price. I haven't let the HiApps have permissions though and have had no issues thus far. I use the in phone cleanup App to fix cache, cookies etc. which I had to install separately in other… Read more
phones. Google Apps, YouTube, Reminder App etc. do seem to want to update allot but I guess I'll see how long it takes before the memory s full shall I ?
Camera is good despite only being 8MP. runs online in 3 & 4 G well, holds signal good too! Had troubles finding a screen protector and case for it strangely enough, even on eBay.
A good phone I suppose for the price and it was very simple to get Google account etc. sorted.
The other selling point for me was the unlocked dual sim it has. And I didn't have to change from a micro to a nano sim either.
Amazing for the price – Pretty amazing phone for the price - I only ever used it as a second/guest phone but I was always impressed by how much you get for the money. OK sure , its no iPhone but it only cost $99 and it has a great screen, good browsing, long battery life. The camera lets it down a bit and some apps are getting no more updates but I have had good us of it and feel like I have had my money's worth. Show details
Good phone - not enough updates – I was really pleased with this when i first got it. I seemed better than some low end Samsungs (j series) that I was considering. Screen is good and bright. I finally had to stop using it because it isn't compatible with the latest version… Read more
of Uber and I need that. The battery still holds a n excellent change and everything works but it wasn't supported for very long.- I think it only ever got one update!
Very good phone for money – This is no iPhone or S9 but it performed very nicely indeed for me as a fill in. I didn't expect too much from a supermarket phone but technology has come along way and it did nothing to annoy me and was actually pretty great in some ways. (not good) lack of RAM and processor power. This overall is a cheap phone that you can actually use without too many hindrances. Good value for money!
Great back up phone – Great back up phone but I wouldn't use it as my main daily driver. I got this as a second phone and it has put in remarkable service and been all over the country too. Used this solidly for a year – This was cheap to buy and actually performed far better than I ever expected. It was my second phone for over a year and got constantly used in that role. It made an excellent wifi hotspot when I didn't use it as a phone too. Screen was quite adequate, browsing was fine audio good too. I eventually stopped using it because certain apps could no longer be updated but that's it the android version, not the phone itself. Good little phone! Show details
Pretty good phone!!! Pretty cheap price!!! – I bought this phone about a year ago and it's been great. It was only $99 on sale, new and unlocked - bargain! Does everything I need it to do. It's pretty sturdy too, it has been thrown around a bit. The screen cracked once when i dropped it on the road but these things happen! Really happy with this phone, I just use it for a few apps plus internet, calls, photos and picture messages and it works great. Show details
