Awesome – Great bike for an incredibly low price. I bought mine 12 months ago after getting my learners permit and havent felt any need to get a bigger bike. It has the same engine as a suzuki. I havent faced any issues other then some of the fairings scratching or fading as this is where they save money.  Show details

The only thing I cannot live with is the name but after 6 years I still cannot justify the more expe – I bought my 2010 GT650 EFI brand new. Its the full power model so I never ever had issues with lack of power. I never ridden the lams one but it surprises me that this much grunt is allowed on a learner bike. Love the bike and never had an issue, would like to upgrade now but I cannot justify the price difference for how good and how much fun this bike is giving me.  Show details

Great Ride - GT650S – Bought a 2012 GT650S EFI model second-hand, initially the bike was grabby at 4000rpm, but after flashing a later ECU map the bike runs smoothly with power coming on from 5000rpm, much better for city riding. The handling on the hardest setting is rock-like through corners, but not so good over bumpy roads, the standard settings are best for… Read more

all-round use. Apart from regular services, have only had to replace the clutch cable sensor and put in a better head-light globe.

Value for money. Nice bike – I own a 2013 GT 650 EFI Naked Simply ticked enough boxes for me to give it a go. • Affordable price. $6000 brand new with 3 months rego (on sale though) • Perfect size/ergonomics for 186 cm tall – 85 KG person. Bike Ergonomic is for sitting upright so, no sore wrist/back. Still LAMS approved and can be unrestricted once I get my full… Read more

license.

• Brand new with 2 years unlimited KMs warranty. Cannot afford buying second hand then fork money out to fix issues.

• Service interval is 6000 KM as per owner’s manual(after the first 1000 break in service)

• Does not look cheap. It does stand out. You get the same reaction from people most of the time. Him: Nice bike mate, what brand is it? Me: Thanks it is a Hyosung, Him: What is Hyosung? – Honestly, I do not care if no one know what brand is the bike I ride.

• Sounds good with its original exhaust. Seen one with an aftermarket exhaust and it sounded like a beast.

• Have done over 7000 KM in 3 months so far and did not miss a beat.

• Pull out from traffic lights as fast and responsive as other bikes in the same CC range.

• Not sure about spare parts as I did not need to change anything since I bought it 3 months ago.

Things I noticed:

• I ride to work for an hour each way every day. Rider seat is a bit stiff. You start to feel it after 40 minutes. Gel seat pad can fix the problem. Not expensive and it does not too bad so, never bought seat pad.

• Resale value might not be as good as the Japanese. I planned to buy brand new and keep it.

• Comes with Bridgestone tires. Good when the road is dry but got to be careful in the rain.

I personally think buying second hand is luck of the draw. You may find a Japanese that is flogged to the max or come across a Korean that has been well treated or vice versa.

I could have bought a Ninja 300 for the same price and I’m glad I did not. Ninja is too small for my frame. My knees were nearly touching the handle bars when I sat on it. Ninja is closer to the ground but is uncomfortable for someone as big as me. I get comfort and more power on my Hyosung.

Any questions about 2013 GT650 naked, feel free to ask.

Perfect for getting back onto a bike – I have been riding this bike for about 4 months now. This has been a gap of about 30 years since I rode a bike. The bike is good for carrying my weight (130 Kilos) around town and down the motor way. If I had purchased a 600 it seems I would have had to pay less registration fees. Since owning the bike I have had two issues. 1. Clutch seal… Read more

leak, This just started with nothing being changed. 2. The starter button has corroded and needed to be replaced. This last one has cost me a lot as the garage took some time finding the fault.

The speed which could be because of my weight is around 140 kilometers an hour seems low for a 650.

Poor Quality – I bought the gt650 new in 2013 loved it for the first three weeks or so but then it would randomly stop when the engine was cold and the dealer couldn't find any problem. Then the radiator sprung a leak for no reason and when it started using oil with only 3000kms up I decided I'd had enough and lost 40% of the price when I traded it for a big… Read more

secondhand japanese tourer which hasn't missed a beat in over 20,000kms. Goes well, stops and handles well, fun to ride. Just too many problems for a new bike.

To the limits – I bought THE FIRST 2010 gt650n in brisbane back in 2009. Within a week a rode it off the side of mt nebo (literally). Two weeks later I had my second gt650n and I rode it everywhere. I racked up 21000k's in 10months without a service and the thing kept going, wasn't cause I didn't care bout the bike, it was because I was poor. Apart from the… Read more

wiring harness burning out due to small wires being used to earth and faulty tip over sensor killing the engine while around corners, the bike ran sweet. After making a few modifications (earthing straight to frame and bypassing the tip over sensor) I never had another problem with the 2010. I have recently bought a written off 2012, rebuilt the engine and fitted it to the 2010 frame. What a bike! So much more angrier, although I've lost 30k's of my top speed, 240km/h down to 210km/h from higher gearing in the 2012, wheel standing and better acceleration out of twisties is a beaut improvement. All in all, solid machine. Nice v-twin pop, forgiving through corners, nimble through traffic, value for money 2010 - wiring/electrics. 2012 - higher gearing causes touchy acceleration.

Fun On A Budget – I was looking at every bike on the market in the 500cc - 650cc range. I test rode nearly every bike in that range and simply couldn't justify the price difference between all the others and the Hyosung. I'm 6ft and over 100kg and also have a wrecked shoulder so was not really keen on the Hyo as it is a heavy bike but once I rode one I honestly… Read more

only noticed the difference when I had to reverse up a hill in the wet. The seating position is great, handles well, brakes fairly well and has plenty of squirt when you twist the throttle. I ended up buying one and am happy I did, surprisingly I have people of all ages checking it out everyday and they all think it looks mean and is big. If you are near a car and you don't think they have seen you give it a rev and the exhaust note makes your presence known. Overall I rate it as good, excellent when you consider the price and compare it to more expensive bikes that it can embarrass. Only down falls would be the paint finish isn't the best (only notice close up). The seat needs a bit more padding for longer rides and the storage under the pillion isn't very water and dust proof which can be a pain if you are like me and go out all day on it no matter what the conditions are (put wallet, phone etc. in a zip lock bag). Inexpensive, great to ride, turns heads. Seat padding, paint quality, What is Hyosung is a phrase you get tired of hearing.

Hyosung GT 650 S – 2011 GT650 S the bike handles really well, it has adequate braking, a comfortable seating position with raised bars, instrumentation provides all you need with the exception of gear position. The LAMS version with 40kw provides enough power to pull away from traffic at the lights. The seat is comfortable on long hauls and the 17 litre tank gives… Read more

you over 300 km's before refills. I have have owned mine for 8 months and have done over 2000 km and couldn't be happier with the $7990 on the road. Well done Hyosung. Reliable, inexpensive and goes and looks great. Great fun on twisties and nibble through traffic. As a LAMS bike gear position reading would be benificial, but not essential.

Best Hyo yet! – I've owned 3 older Hyosung 250s, before moving to the 2010 GT650 EFI, Needed a big bike only because I am going to have to commute along freeways. The 650 is pretty quick, and can filter through traffic easily. The new style 4 piston twin disc brakes are much better than the single discs I was used too. Haven't had any reliability issues. Those… Read more

that whinge about Hyos being unreliable probably bought a cheap second hand one from someone on low income (eg teenage Learner, uni student etc) who couldn't afford to maintain it. Hyos are easy to DIY maintain, parts are not rare - eg filters, brake pads, switches etc are same as Suzuki's.

These bikes are practical for commuting to the city and parking on the street, due to cheap price - would you park a 30 grand harley or italian bike on the street all day (in the rain? where it can get knocked over by rubbish train? etc). Maybe an unknown brand, but non-riders still say 'nice bike!', and 'BIG bike!' Inexpensive, large size = comfortable, good acceleration, good brake 'feel' exhaust popping? ... after saying 'nice big bike!' they always say 'What is a Hyosung?'

nice bike shame about electrics – I bought this quickly as my ute had died and needed a good vehicle to get to work. the first problem was the coolant hose coming off and dumped all the coolant on the road, then the brake switch failed causing the bike to stall, so they disconnected it at the dealer, then the electrical system shortd out needed new stator, battery and rectifier… Read more

all done under warranty and then a month later battery died again. so I sold the bike and bought a car instead. when it was running it was a great bike fun to ride and fast enough as mine was the full power version.

I would say though that I would not buy another because of my problems even though dealer fixed them under warranty. v twin torque, handling, performance eats brake pads, electrics are terrible, service costs, you cannot rely on this bike to get you to work

feeling a bit ripped off – I bought it new to avoid issues! 1st ever brand new anything and so dissapointed.well they are cheap and I guess you get what you pay for, but when you buy a new product you expect to get trouble free for a while at least. My GT650 EFI is now 2 1/2 years old, 25,00km and nothing but endless ongoing issues from rear brakes locking on, oil leaks,… Read more

stator, rectifier, battery, ignition system failure, could not turn off power after giving it a sponge bath and so headlight stayed on melting the lense, seat splitting, indicator fell off, rear number plate/tailight assembly fell off, head stem bolt keeps on getting loose.

The handle bars are now rusting and it is always under cover, I do not live near the coast or ride in the rain. rubber gromet from under the fuel tank fel out, continuing tuning issues like it wont idle well, wont decrease accelleration when you let go of the throttle, coil pack earth connection rusting and causing missfire and back fires, water leaks, more oil leaks and the list goes on. The Dealer has bee great going over and above to get the problems sorted but it still has ongoing problems. Hyosung are next to useless when it comes to warranty and backing there product.Do NOT buy one, they do not deserve to sell them. They are substandard and probably don't comply with Aussie standards. Korean junk! Great to ride when it's not getting fixed. V twin sound with a sports can is nice. Made in Korea with poor quality materials and probably no quality control.

Plagued with electrical issues – Everything was good for the 1st year. Since then I have taken it to the dealer and another dealer and a private mechanic to try and get electrical issues sorted. All efforts have failed and I now have a bike that I need to toe to another mechanic to try and get fixed. Cheap Poor warranty service, bad electricals
