good bike – I Have had my 2012 GT650R for just over a year now got it with 3k on the odometer now has 18k on it with a good little bit of that in the higher end of the rpm and have uesed it every day in summer and winter bad/good weather and have had NO issues with the bike all. A lot of the bad things that are on the net about this bike are from the older… Read more
ones (or lack of normal maintenance) from what I have seen after 2010 Hyosung did do sum improvements to the electric.
Good beginners, intermediates, and worn in riders – Smooth throttle smooth ride.good not great throttle response a little lag or hesitation. Top speed n line with kawasaki, honda and suzuki looks like any other sport bike. I would like to see a little more speed and tork for the gt to be a viable competition of kawasaki, honda, suzuki I would like to buy a newer one in the near future. Show details
Fantastic bike for the price – I bought a 2015 gt650r with 600kms on it and love it had no problems with it at all I read some bad reviews about these bikes but I can’t say I agree with them I have owed a number of bikes and this is a great bike with plenty of balls about it they are made in the Suzuki factory on the same lines would recommend for all types of riders did a trip… Read more

Great bike with lots of grunt and acceleration – i have a 2010 hyosung gt650r and man its such a great bike for the price i payed for it. i tried the Chinese made heist 250 bobber and that was utter junk and bad performance .i tried a my uncles hyosung gt250r bad performance .but when i tried this bike ,man i was so impressed by its sleek looks and great performance and such a great bang for… Read more

You get what you pay for with these bikes one of the worst bikes on the market today with a terrible – I have been riding for over 20 years and I would not recommend these to anyone who is after something to learn on it is too heavy and therefore handling is a problem when going fast around corners or bends, wants a good re sale value and or is wanting to ride for lengthy periods of time, their seats and peg positions are not comfortable, they are… Read more
plagued with electrical problems mainly their stators and rectifiers that in my opinion do not suit these v-twin engines and loose wiring, also if you replace parts yourself or you get your neighborhood service man to do it and they are not an authorized hyosung repairer the parts are not replaceable under warranty if they turn out to be faulty, might not be a good idea as there are plenty of other second hand bikes that you will enjoy. overall they have a really neat look and sound good if you add a shorty or a yoshi but again in my opinion and its sad to say I would stay away from them until the company does further research and development.
Fantastic bike for money – I first got my hyosung 650 with 9000km on it and i now have it sitting on 31000. I have it for about 1 and half years and it still puts a smile on my face when i get on it. When i first started looking at buying it I read alot of reviews on them and found most people siad apart from electronic issues they were a good bike. Well im here to say… Read more
they were wrong its a great bike with heaps of power and its a head turner as well.
I use it every day to go to work and every day all i want to do is get on it and ride. Makes it so much easier to actually go to work.
On the weekends its even better cause no matter what you do or where you go all it wants to do is get you there in a hurry.
Would recommend to anyone if they want a great bike for little cash to go and have fun and buy one.
Excellent bike on a straight line – (This review is both subjective and objective in respect to all assessments and comments gathered from both my riding experience and that of others, it has no intention to criticize others' reviews.) Hello everyone, I own a Hyosung GT650r 2013 efi model. It is a good bike, but not a great one. This, from 4 years of experience and being able… Read more
to feel riding a Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha bikes in the past.
First off, its a good looking bike. It has a mix of gloss finish paint for the fuel tank and a gloss gel coated and matte for the fairings. It is an eye-catcher that's for sure. The cats eye headlight is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it. It's low sitting position gives it an aggressive look. The frame offers the bike a bulky look retaining the sporty exterior. It's lower exhaust steel cover gives uniqueness to its exhaust system. The red colored spring of the rear shock ab sober gives it a sharper look. However, the design of the seats, foot pegs and brackets, handle bars, triple tree and windscreen all look ordinary. Also, upon closer inspection, the loose wires, cables and bolts are quite noticeable within the gaps of the fairings making it look cheap. The sound of hyosung's GT is more of a cruiser. Overall, I give 4.5/5 for looks.
Handling is quite subjective. Its weight of 200+ kilograms makes it very heavy and challenging to maneuver in sharp corners which is a sad reality for this bike. Regardless, its weight allows it to be substantially stable upright. It is very enjoyable in cruising and powerful in open straight roads. Despite all its power having a v-twin 650cc engine, breaking power is poor and acceleration is moderate in comparison to Japanese bikes who mostly have better breaking systems and in-line engines respectively. The low riding position makes it uncomfortable and is physically strenuous particularly in moderate to heavy traffic. Overall, I give for 3.5/5 for handling.
Reliability is unquestionably not quite there. Most Hyosung owners I know and have read from forums and watched from videos, it is not THE best bike if you're looking for reliability. The common problems I have gathered from all these research has taken me into a conclusion that EACH hyosung sold is different therefore EACH hyosung owners have had different set of problems. Based on factory bike setting of the GT, the most common of these issues are: cheap rectifier/voltage regulator and battery, weak front brake pads and very weak rear brake pads (in addition to non-ABS system), poor air filter material, cheap handle bar and foot peg material (easily snaps off even from the most minor low side fall) cheap fork oil quality and cheap radiator material (easily breaks from debris). Rare but possible issues that may arise include: overheating problems and rear shock absorber leaks. Overall, reliability isn't the greatest but manageable for 2.5/5.
Speed/acceleration is good, unrestrict this LAMS bike and this machine is nimble on the streets. Being a 650cc v-twin engine bike, the slightest throttle makes it very responsive allowing you to initially accelerate quite significantly. However, due to the bike's heavy frame, it still is a disappointment in overall acceleration on each gear shift. But rest assured, it IS a fast bike for both learner and novice riders I give it 4/5 for speed.
The bottom line is, you do get what you paid for. It is not a bad bike, it is not a great bike, rather it is actually an exceptional bike. If you don't look after you're bike, it won't look after you on the road either. Take care of your bike and you'll be a happier and safer rider on the streets. Sure that hysoung bikes still has some issues to amend, but once you've detected a problem make sure that it is rectified ASAP. It won't be as fast as most 600-650cc class Japanese or Italian bikes, but it is still fast, reactive and sexy enough on the road to fall in love with this beast. And yes it is a beast, cause its powerful and heavy.
**tips for this bike**
a) If you do have the budget to buy a brand new bike then don't buy a Hyosung, if you don't but still want a brand new one then go (they are a couple 1000 dollars cheaper than ALL brand new Japanese/Italian bikes in the market).
b) This is not a good training bike for learners wishing to buy a second hand bike.
c) This is a great bike for riders who want to learn more on motorbike anatomy (cause you'll do heaps of repairs!) and are courageous enough to be unique and different.
d) Don't get into an accident, one problem will lead to another and another and etc..
e) Always be vigilant with frequency of servicing and check-ups.
stay upright everyone.

Great bike at a great price! – I have owned my 2015 Hyosung GT650R for 15 months now and have done over 6000kms on it and I must say I have really enjoyed this bike. Like a lot of other people I read some pretty bad reviews on Hyosung as a brand in general and had my hesitations on purchasing this bike. 15 months later I have zero regrets on purchasing this bike. This bike… Read more
has a true super sport riding position and looks mean in the Black/Graphite colour I have. The sound from the v-twin engine is amazing and with a screaming demon muffler installed rivals the big cruisers in sound. Due to it's size and having the amount of torque it does really gives this bike a big bike feel and makes your Honda CBR500s and Ninja 300s feel like toys.
Does this bike have the best finish available? No. Is this bike the most smoothest/refined bike around? No. But for what little you pay for this bike brand new ($6500) you will get a bike with character that won't be outrun by any other LAMS bike and will keep up with everything other than the 1 litre sports bikes.
Amazing comfortable bike! – I love riding this bike everywhere! It's comfortable on long trips as your not folding your legs up and I've had no problems with it at all! Definitely recommend it!
EXCELLENT – Got a 2015 Hyosung GT650R, it runs amazing, I it everyday as my commute bike to the gym and work. on weekends I go with mates on rides and they all love my bike as they have Honda's 500cc bike. the only issue I have had after owning it for a year is that the wiring loom was stuck together as where I live gets on average 40 degrees Celsius. Good real size Bike to learn on and gain experience – I've had my bike for over a year now, 2012 model (lams) ride almost everyday.. I love it and it is 10x better to ride in every aspect compared to all Ninja 250-300 or Any cbr lams approved. Riden all off them and gt650r feels and goes like a real bike. After just 5 min I wanted my bike back and have zero desire to ride any Of the above… Read more

All my mate's who purchased ninjas or cbrs lams always want to ride my bike lol
Pros: looks and sounds tough. Cheap service and parts, feels and handles and brakes like any full size bike (lams) and builds your skills and confidence much more then all smaller lams bikes. Good breaks for beginners, plenty of power for beginners, you will not get bored for a year or two compared to any ninja or cbr..(lams)
Cons: electronic problems on my bike like many others who have this bike. Stator issues (power cut out and blow main fuse when u push the bike hard) but once you have replaced stator, nothing else goes wrong.. I know of about 8 people who have or had same bike and all say the same..
Lucky for me I bought it from Peter Stevens and was under warranty (3 moths)
Ringwood Peter Stevens where very supportive and professional, they even gave me brand new ninja abs 300 as a loan bike. Whilst they fixed my bike, if I didn't have warranty it would had cost me 800-900 dollars to find issue & fix including Labour which makes up most of the cost. If I knew it was the stator then it would only have cost $300-400.. Or do it yourself and as low as 50 dollars second hand stator.
I was so happy when I returned the Ninja 300 and got my bike Back..( 2 weeks later because they done complete check and diagnosis and ordered parts..)
It Was like going returning a Holden astra 1.8 and getting back a hsv r8 clubsport lol
looks nice – 2011 model bought at 18 month old, looks nice, but a bit heavy, very reliable, handling a bit ponderous, suffered from terrible low speed fueling very snatchy not smooth, dreadful to ride in town ,good torque on open road at 3yrs old now has minor rust to some bolts & discs almost impossible to sell secondhand in uk. to sum up better buy japanese inline 4

Awesome bike!!! – Just purchased a 2012 GT650R EFI a few days ago, it is an awesome bike. It looks good and sounds amazing with any after market exhaust as it is a V-Twin. I was a bit hesitant before purchasing this bike as I had been told that the quality was lacking, after riding the bike for a few days, I have no regrets. Yes, the Japanese bikes may be a little… Read more
more refined but a few after market accessories and you will be on par with the Japanese bikes. Some people find this bike too heavy, I have no problem handling it and the acceleration is perfect for street riding as the power is constant and not just in high revs like smaller bikes. I would recommend that you purchase a Hyosung that has a complete service history and has been looked after (if purchasing second hand).
Perfect first bike – I have only been riding for a few weeks now but I don't even remember how to drive a car because I ride this bad boy everywhere. The 2013 model is so great. Being a taller bloke I have the occasional back problems but that's just me. The high beams keep flickering but I know that's just a loose wire and apart from the kill switch wire being all… Read more
weird and screwing up (I get fixed under warranty) it's been so good to ride around. Good fun. And being a 650 after getting it unrestricted you can keep it for a while. Love it Speed, tri-colour, sound, fuel efficiency Electrical, weight, height
Overall a good bike but not for city riding. Certainly good for riding on freeways and highways – I bought a 2013 650 GTR new from Trooper Lu's garage at Liverpool NSW approx 4 months ago. For me I like the bike it looks good but just doesnt have the guts that I thought it would. Im an ex dirt bike rider and used to everything being race mod so it maybe that coming from racing to road riding has been a big change for me. The first week I owned… Read more
it the electric start died and I was left without any assistance from Trooper Lu's and I had only broken down approx 2 K's away from the shop, they refused to come pick me up and deliver my bike back to the shop for repairs until I completely lost the plot. That left a bad taste in my mouth from where I purchased it. After this minor issue I have no problems with the bike and has been a great ride to and from work which is approx 60 k's each way. At traffic lights when stopped have had 2 comments about the look of the bike and they were blown away by how good it looks. Overall a good L plater bike and I am very satisfied with the look but you will need to do some post modifications like change the exhaust and hotter spark plug plus some other mods that will allow the inner beast of Hyosung to come out. Id rate a 7 out of 10 overall The look is really nice, better speed when you do some modifications post sale, Have to be an intermediate rider at least to ride it Accept for the electric start faulting it has not given me any issues
Hyosung warranty is pointless – I have had my 2013 Hyosung for 8 months now which i bought from Peter Stephens in January and it has been a dream bike to own. Obviously it is not the most refined bike out there but as a LAMS bike it ticks all my boxes with a more agressive stance and a deep throaty sound to it. To me it is one of the best looking LAMS sports bike out there. … Read more
Recently i noticed a leak on my front left fork which i took to back to Peter Stevens to fix under warranty as i had only had the bike for a few months and the K's were very low. Peter Stevens came back to me saying that Hyosung would not fix the bike under warranty as i had dropped it prior. My question to them was how could a minor drop (with minimal damage) affect a bikes front fork? Obviously this was a faulty fork seal that needed replacement.
I was dealing with the manager at Peter Stevens (Melbourne) David who told me that they would fix the bike for me for NO charge seeing that the bike was well taken care of and was still basically considered as new. Further to that, they also straightened my fender and replaced a cluch seal that was known to wear out prematurely.
I will definatly be purchasing my next bike from Peter Stevens as they know how to take care of their customers. As for Hyosung their warranty policy is pointless to me if they cannot distinguish between a faulty manufacturing part and a damaged part. Therefore I am no longer an advocate for Hyousung and im giving it 3 stars. Supersport look and feel, Deep throaty sound with slipon exhaust, 2013 model looks great Meaningless warranty policy, full beam works intermittently
Awesome bike outstanding for the money – Just bought a 2012 lams gtr great bike it's Korean so what ,they are one of the best manufacturers of cars , phones and now bikes . Anyone thinking of buying a good starter lams bike look no further Big Bang for your bucks . Quite a heavy bike but still powerful enough to get to 200kmph so far can't really find anything to wrong with the bike Looks, power, value for money Bit clunky getting into neutral
2012 GT650R - Could be a tighter build but great fun for the price – I've had my 2012 Hyosung GT650R for 11months. It's been in the shop twice but that was due to my experimentation with popping it up lol. Cracked rear sprocket, Guessing from the screwed chain lol. Point is.... blown up from top speed and still today leaves my mates behind. love it. There are things that could be refined.. Gear selector could be better, be sure to get that checked after dropping ur clutch a few too many times...After a bit of getting used to, Over all its a top bike. Gives you more of a presence on the road with a nice brothers or TLC racing pipe, People really hear you coming! Go test ride one with a two brothers or tlc exhaust... Bet u have a smile from ear to ear :-) Peace. Nice sound, Plenty of grunt, Looks sweet with a tidy kit and the passenger handles removed It the poor mans Porsche and we all know it. Just not a good feeling bike – I have owned the bike now for four months. 2013 bought new from team moto springwood. Within in days the bulbs blew and i had no indicators, it also blew the fuse. grabby there is no small throttle its on or off and trying to ride in trafic at 40 or 60 is annoying it is either to fast, not slow enough or have to change in to second and it starts popping and trying to stall..
The bike feels like something is going to fall off it, like it's to plastic and lastly both yup both shock seals blew out with normal riding no racing and no accidents, ..
Update "traded in this POS for a Buell, from $9500 I got $1800 back on trade-in."
Everything in a year was worn out.
Shocks, sprokets, chain, paint, berrings, breaks, tires it was basically fraud and theft they way it was sold.
Please don't fall for any of their rubbish. Team Moto are con artist.
Team moto won't replace and parts that wear out. The won't even honer the law on an item is covered for its expected life span and are saying hyosung won't cover it either.
So i rate this bike as crap and after sales care, terrible. Good luck. the sound with a yoshi pipe. the ease of removing the restrictor. lots.no after sales Care. very bad shock seals.
2013 hyosung GT650R – Well, i purchased this bike from bike biz in Parramatta a few weeks ago. the new GSX650f Suzuki and ninja 650.. the engine of the Hyosung is basically the same as the SV650 Suzuki.. so why hate on it, if its the same?
most of the electrical components have been done by Kawasaki and Suzuki them self-- people seem to hate on the hyosungs but they have never even riden one. they are an excellent bike for the price.. Colour, fast, responsive, looks, sound, fuel efficient Electricals which can be easily fixed
Electrical woes – Having brought a brand new GT650R late last year and having it in the shop 4 times all related to electrical issues has me quite frustrated. Bang for your Buck – I would like to say I have had my Hyosung Gt650R now for six months and for a LAMS bike it has been a dream. one day each) fuel economy was outstanding approx 400ks + between tanks and I wasn't being to gentle on the throttle and was very comfortable to ride. Have put it up against a Ducati monster 659 and it held it's own from go to the top end even though the Ducati was 50kgs lighter and the rider was 10kgs lighter than me, we sat right next to each other the whole way.
So I can say as a LAMS bike she is great was planning on selling her once I get my open RE but now thinking of just have her restricted to see what she can really do with full throttle available. Reliable, inexpensive, energy efficient Weight

OK – Hyosung??? Should I? The sales assitant puts the key in and gives the 650 v-twin a breath of fuel & air as it throbs nice deep heart beats. This sounds alright... I let i warm up a minute or two, hop on and push it onto first. Here goes... As I take off down the street I instantly notice the vibration of the V-twin ( as I am used to a 600cc inline… Read more
4), you realy do feel like you have something under you. I make a sharp right turn to a nice long straight. Its clear... I immediately open it up, to find a unexpected small wheelie... This thing's got some go !!!!! But as I watch the revs increase there is very little above 8000rpm's. I click it up into second and give it stick again... Yep this korean is a mover ( yes even when I own a 99 zx6r ). As the gears are quite short, I click up and find myself giving it to it again... This bike is fast, yet not scary. I am looking forward to this again ( as much as I can within the 45min test ride ), but I need corners!!!! I start on a nice open left hander ( my favourite side ) I get comfortable and start leaning slightly... Mmm I am not sure about this, could just be that I am not used to this vibration coming from the motor. I find my line and cruise until the last 1/3 of the corner... My revs are up, my line is clear, my position is a slight lean.. OPEN IT !!!!!!!! Again this bike has some poke... Before I know it I am on the brakes for a sharp right, then left then a large open left hander again... The bike dips deep down front, but it makes you realise it has fairly good stopping power, Nothing too bad.. I little stiffer could be better though. Slow cornering is a little difficult as it tends to throb/leap if your throttle hand isn't cautious. A v-twin trait Im sure.. After stopping, starting, cornering and hard acceleration for 45 mins.. I am a little tingly in my hands. This bike has a heap of vibration ( again I am used to a inline 4 ), I don't know if I would call it bad. However you need to take this bike for as long a test ride as possible to feel what I mean. Long cruises wouldn't be my cup of scotch, but quick blasts on as a sunday bike would to be fun. I would love to see how I ride this bike once I have owned one for 6 months... I could shame alot of 600cc inline 4's, who would change the way they though about Hyosung.. No joke! Surprisingly quick. Nice ride postion. Hot looking bike. potential. Cheesy mirrors. vibration.
Got a great deal – I got a great deal on one of these, have not had a single drama yet although i have seen plenty with older models i am impressed so far value for money is great, very happy and highly recomend anyone in sydney to try on two wheels clayton, great guy great price so far great bike fast, sound, looks Show 2 replies
Best LAMS road bike you can buy! – After the first couple of months with the bike, in my humble opinion it is the best LAMS road bike you can buy, and represents exceptional 'Bang for Buck' value. to put a smile on your face and leave most traffic behind at the lights. I suspect that if you are after super quick road bike with razor sharp handling it may not live up to your expectations, but if you are looking for your first road bike, that will regularly put a smile on your face and still forgive the odd mistake, you can't go past the Hyosung GT650R. Looks great, awesome bang for buck value, fast and handles well but still forgives Learner mistakes without chucking you down the road. Like most sports bikes, riding position can become a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so.
The most comfortablist road bike ever – O.K. so it's Koren so is so are some of the wheels cars of the year i30 it's quick enough and very comfortable, rode 8 hrs Townsville to Cooktown and didn't even have bottom problems do that on a ninja. OK – Great middle bike before jumping on to a 1000cc. Turn heads and have fun doing it. Has to be the best learner legal bike on the market. Awsome V-twin Sound, good cornering, just enough power to get out of trouble, brakes to stop when you need them to. Not always 100% reliable. Trouble Starting in colder months, Front fairing nose of bumps, throttle response a lil touchy at low speeds
Good – Well well the old stories about the Hyo being the crappest bike ever made are just that....old stories. Whoever started that rumour obviously hasnt riden one and should eat their hat. it(i have a Micron exhaust on mine), cornering is fantastic, I have dropped the front of the bike down the forks 10mm and it has made a massive difference in cornering. Super responsive and it holds a perfect line. A nice set of new shoes also improves the bikes handling (metzler M3's do the job for me). I will be very sad the day i sell my Hyo.....hopefully they will bring out a 1000cc sporty soon. Broom Broom! Looks good! Sounds good! comfortable seating position. Plenty of grunt for a learner legal ride! you can derestrict it for more powaaaa!! plenty of aftermarket products available. digital display. The main problem i have with the bike is the wheels. They stain pretty hardcore. the dash buttons are hard to push.
