"Don't Get Hung on a Hyosung" – Back in 2010, I had one of these and at the dealership it looked great and sounded great, "but". After 3 weeks of trouble free riding the battery kept going flat and every second day I had to keep readjusting the clutch settings then when I took it out for my first long ride it started to miss fire and cut out, a big problem when you have just… Read more
over taken a Semi-trailer.
Yep this bikes issues from faulty coil and reoccurring clutch probs along with its constantly over heating issues nearly turned me into road kill.
Needless to say it was the most expensive paperweight in history, save your money and pay the extra for the Suzuki Gladious Vtwin they copied this from.
Simple advice do not go near a Hyosung they are the original 4 and 20/ - 4 minutes of fun and twenty months of pain and suffering trying to find an idiot dumber than you to sell it to.
The worst built, and put together bike in History! – With out a doubt- the worst motorcycle ever built. I bought one of the first GT650s Hyos sold in WA. Here is its only good feature - it is quick for a 650. Here are the bad, I owned the bike for 2 and a half years from new 2005 and sold it for a Suzuki 650. I still have the Suzuki and the old Hyo engine. The Hyo went through 4 rectifiers, 3… Read more
speedometers, 1 gearbox, 3 brake disc, 1 engine, etc, etc - what a pile of rubbish. it lost 3/4 of its value in under 2 years...
2006 Hyosung GT650 – bought this bike a number of years ago only had it about 14 months. I had some reliability issues with it initially and despite the good price I had paid what I saved ....I ended up paying out in repair and maintenance costs. Ride and handling was satisfactory brakes were adequate ...some of my problems were associated with electrical which was… Read more
very average. Bike was cheap to run petrol wise and if pushed had decent acceleration though the maintenance outweighed the positives. overall only 4 out of 10 went well when pushed hard poor reliability
Good – My GT650 is now over two years old and has around 12,900 K's on the clock (inc. a 1500 km 2 day trip). Apart from a once only starting problem (due to a crook ethanol mix), it now runs strong and hard and I trust it to do so for some time. The paint finish has remained bright and the shiny bits rust free. It has only required regular maintenance… Read more
to keep it running sweet. The brakes are excellent and progressive once they've bedded in correctly. The handling is predictable and secure. My benchmark is a string of Honda 750 fours and VF750's, so my expectations were high when I purchased the Hyosung. Apart from an exhaust crackle on the overrun, intermittent hard to find neutral and poor night lighting of the instruments and daytime lighting of the fuel level lights, all has be OK. Would I purchase another? ... definitely, but I trust I'll see this one give me many years of riding enjoyment before it's traded in. PS: Don't under any circumstance fill your Hyosung with ethanol laced fuel. It goes stale very quickly (it smells rank) and will bring doom and gloom to your day. Exceptional value, strong performance, comfortable riding position, feels nimble considering it's weight, V twin sound and stump pulling torque, "tough" good looks. Persistent crackle and popping on throttle overrun. Hard to find neutral. Appalling instrument lighting, hard to read fuel level light. 6th gear is a tad too high for OZ speed (revinue raising) limits.
Terrible – a friend owned one. i rode it twice. will never ride one again. it had many defects, one which was never rectified. within twenty minutes of picking it up, it twice slipped gear - once from 2nd to neutral and once from third to second, at about 6-7000 rpm under load. my foot was under the gear lever with no chance of accidental downshift. it was a… Read more
dangerous defect and ignored by repairer and manufacturer. do not expect anywhere near the follow up service provided by the leading manufactures. spend a little more money and buy a more reputable brand, especially if a novice rider - quality, reliability and service is everything.
cheap build. inferior specs and parts. poor brakes.
Terrible – So your Hyosung's are still pretty new eh? Well enjoy it while it lasts, mine has hit the 1 year old mark and yet again back in the shop. Yet again Hyosung australia (Peter Stevens cycles of Melbourne) has no parts, yet again I have to wait months for them to arrive. And I am not the only one, I know of six other people who where stupid enough… Read more
to buy the same garbage (GV650). One of them has had his bike on the road for four months over the last two years and when it was finally fixed the last time the repairer tried to hit him with a storage bill.
Every time I get it back on the road something else breaks before I can sell it.
I have now given up on Hyosung and have come to the decision once the bike returns to sell it no matter what condition it is in and let some other poor sap fight Hyosung, the worthless piece of garbage still has a years warranty on it.
