Buy a Honda – I can't get this bike to stay running. It starts but as soon as you open the throttle it dies. I only have 85 miles on the bike which is practically new, this seems so bizarre! Save your pennies and buy a Honda or Yamaha, it's so unreliable. This is 1950 technology.

Can't get rid of it fast enough – I got my GV250 because it looked pretty and I was really excited to start riding, but I failed to do any real research about them first. I had electrical issues right out of the gate and have been stranded several times. NO GARAGE will even look at it for you, not even the DEALER. There is no reliable support for this bike in the states. I'm trying to sell mine for parts and I still can't get rid of it.

I Absolutely love it!!!!! – I decided to get back into riding now that my kids are grown. I bought my 2002 model from the second owner not running with 20,000 km on it. Took only 10 min to figure out that the fuel pump was shot. After some research replaced the OEM pump with a low pressure Mr Gasket pump from the local auto parts store and it ran like a top. I ride 60 miles… Read more

a day in city/ highway traffic. Performance is just fine in either it also has plenty of power when I ride 2 up with the wife ( who the bike was supposed to be for originally) and I'm 5' 10" an 220 lbs. Yes it gets pushed around some by the wind if you run it up in the 70 - 80 mph range but hey its a light bike. It is what it is. Sure I have had small issues with the charging system and the brakes and of course the finicky neutral switch. Otherwise I hate it so much that I'm looking to buy another for the wife because I don't plan on getting a larger bike for myself now. Why should I when this one does everything I want or need it to? I just wish I didn't have to order the cool accessories from Korea, but maybe as more people learn about these bikes here in the states that will change. Meanwhile I will have to wait for my chrome goodies. I also wish there was an upgrade for the speedo. It's difficult trying to read mph on the inside scale an guestamating the in between speeds lol. 5/8/18 update still have it and 2 others now. The original still slightly modified (haven’t noticed the odometer lately but it’s well north of 41000 km) and almost a daily rider only major issue is a slight oil leak. Other than that just the usual wearable items and maintenance. The second is a 04 model stone stock stock that I use for family members and to show the difference between the 3 only thing I don’t like is the very Briggs&Stratton type vacuum fuel pump, much prefer the electric fuel pump models. The last is an 03 bought as a basket case for Parts but decided to rebuild its now a stretched bagger and HIGHLY modified using Parts off the GT250, aftermarket parts and ones from different makes and others that were never intended for a lowly lil 250. The original 02 is zippy and dependable as a commuter should be. The 04 is ho hum as intended for it to be as a trainer. The last can be quite frightening if you are not prepared and has shown much larger bikes she can hold her own. My absolutely most favorite thing about them all is the WHAT THE F... factor you get from people. They are not well known here so no one knows what they are I’m constantly “is that a ......?” Or “what is that” and when answered I get “a WHAT?!”

difference between these two bikes is like the diference between a tractor and a porche.tried to trade the hyosung in when I brought new bike was told by numerous dealers they either didn't want it at all or wouldn't make an insulting offer.finally found some one interested in buying it took it for a run day before sale was to go through has now decided with less than 300 k after major service to start to stall at 8000 rpm rung buyer and told him I wouldn't sell this heap of junk to him.am going to run it back to dealer again but think best thing for this bike is a box of matches.dont buy a hyosung as I said even the hyosung dealers don't want second hand ones as they cost them to much to fix if they have warranty

Must be lucky -twice! – I have been blessed with (2) taken opportunities to own a Hyosung GV250 Aquila, and, both of my ownership experiences have been great. My 1st was a 2004 in red/white with metallic flake mixed in, which I got through a dealer with just over 4,000 Km on it. Of course, it was completely serviced prior to my picking it up and it ran great. My second… Read more

was a 2002 with a mere 1,603 KM on the Odo, but, (3) prior owners! It had lots of extras, had been garaged, and, it is in burgandy/cream- my favorite colors!

But, I found both bikes to be very quiet, smooth revving throughout the broad rev range- with minimal vibration. The size, although larger than most 'beginner' bikes seemed to fit me and everyone else who rode them. The engine has limited power up to just over 6,000 RPM, where is comes on smoothly all the way up to and past 11,000. The brakes, although a little wooden, seemed to be enough to haul it down from speed, although both front and rear were needed for maximum stopping. The front alone, is just too soft, with not enough power to really haul it down alone. The carburators have been touchy, and, require a thorough cleaning every year, regardless of what has been put in the gas throughout the seasons. Note: screws will need to be replaced, as the factory ones are as soft as warm butter, but, once replaced- they are fine.

All bikes seem to need more than basic maintainence, but, neither bike had any excessive issues, and, I still ride my 2002 year round. I did have to replace the front brake assembly & master cylinder this summer, but, it failed after 12 years and at least 4 new, beginner rides practicing for licensing tests. Lots of emergency braking and swerving involved in relatively breif miles could have helped that failure along. But, other than finding: sand, silt and pebbles in my carburators more than once- they have been very reliable and never have stranded me.

I have found a few forums to very helpful in my ownership experience, and, whatever issues that I've had, I have been able to resolve-or, at least identify- prior to bringing it in for service. I will say that these have been known to have charging issues: bad stators & regulator/rectifiers from the factory, and, early failures while on the road- both of my GV250's charged at above idle. (They could have been repaired by prior owners, as both bikes were purchased used.)

Having owned multiple motorcycles over the last few years, it's the only bike I searched out and bought another one. That is testimony enough about just how good of a bike it is. Far greater than the sum of it's parts, it does a lot of things very well. I use mine for errand runs, grab milk, buy postage or, pick up sandpaper at the hardware store. If your commute doesn't require speeds over 140KPH, you have a winner, as they will go all day long at or below that speed, whether on a hill or facing a strong headwind.

I put a windshield on my second one, and, have never taken it off. Just not having the bugs on my face, the small pebbles kicked up from cars ahead and the fine mist of AC consendor drops is worth it. Saddlebags have been appreciated on both bikes, allowing me to increase my daily usage of such a fun, yet quiet machine.

Finally, I have taken modest day trips with my wife sitting pillion, and, she has enjoyed the view all of the time. No complaints about roominess, heat or noise- she's able to enjoy the ride, the sites and the smells without complaint for hours on end. I'm still waiting to replace tires- the stock Shinko's seem to last forever, but, the bike is light and the power is somewhat modest when compared to larger bikes.

Positives: great gas mileage, good looking and long lasting.

Negatives: weak and wooden brakes.

I have recommended these bikes to many beginners, and, those who have followed through have kept them, like me, even when they've moved up into bigger bikes. Not too expensive used, but, not worth much on trade either. I have heard stories about these bikes and how bad they can be, but, I've never met anyone in person who has had them with one that they owned. I think quality control was lacking, but, once sorted they are long lasting- even if they get surface rust on some bolts.

Top class Motorbike for Gv250 plenty power , speed achieved about 160 Km or 100 Miles P h – Early Jan 12, At age close to 50 I was blessed when my Beautiful wife surprised me and said ” Now that our children has grown up, completed university , why do you not get yourself a bike again” . When I was courting my beautiful wife about 29 years ago she was at that time, nerves as I had a Honda Gold wing GL1000 the 1970 model .… Read more

I was given the choice to sell the bike or Big OR To reconsider going out with her further, as my Beauty-queen, did not want to see me in any Bike accident.

I was so in love, that I sold that great burgundy Honda Gold wing GL1000 a 1970 Model ,and our relationship led some time later to marriage. After some years of plenty fun and travel some beautiful children was our blessing and joy, and still is our Joy today even as they are now all adults.

At this time Jan/Feb12 I was considering to get a sports car and with this surprising words form My Beautiful wife “ Why do you not get a Bike again” It was a pleasant surprise and in the following weeks found a bike after looking and test riding many others Like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki even Kawasaki most of these models was from the 80’s very few from the 90’s . Finally I made a choice.

I got a Hyosung Gv250 Model 2007 on the second hand market for slightly over $ 2 K . Then, I fixed this bike up to look like a custom bike. At that time only about 2000 KM was on the bike's clock, in late Jan 12. Since then till now May 13 I increased the clock to over 16000 Km. What a fun bike this is to ride, this Hyosung Gv250 clearly has great power, and as it easily, and in no time reach the speed limits, this is clearly a fun bike to own and ride and learn from. Very short stopping space when firmly applied.

I was surprised that now riding bike again, after a long time of no riding, I felt that I needed to learn to ride all over again. However, memory helped to return the skill from before in a faster time. Now only practice helps to build more skill to ride this bike confidently preparing for a bigger bike, even as it is a small Gv250 , its a great fun and bike and the weight combination is perfect as I’m about 70 to 75 Kg. The dimensions of the physical size are very close to any bigger Cruiser or even trousers. That means the feeling of riding this Gv250 is the great experience.

Even some time on the long road I took the risk, and even achieved 162 to 165 Km P h , I felt nerves to punch the bike faster than about 100 miles P H , I felt I ran out of road very fast to even get to a higher speed. Well this clearly impressed me. Even at that speed I felt the bike still have power to even get to greater speeds.

I am hopefully planning to get a bigger Harley or Victory however with the fun I have from this Gv250 it certainly delays and slow down my buying time to even consider at the Victory or Harley.

Summery ............. In short this Hyosung Gv250 has great power / speed for a cruiser and it outperform most other 250 Cruiser on the market ( excluding the sports or Racer Bikes ) . The handling is great and fun round the bends in the road. Fuel economy is very surprising as well.

Overall this Hyosung Gv250 cruiser is a bike you must test ride and experience for yourself.

To custom this bike one will find that most Harley parts will fit like Grips, Leavers , Mirrors, Foot pegs and floor boards even mudguards and luggage. In some cases small modifications may be needed.

When you consider to get into Biking ,or again after a long break, then this Gv250 will be a great choice and look out for them as they are very difficult to find on the second-hand market.

Please can other riders inform us how do they find this Gv250 performing with a passenger . Hyosung Gv250 has Great power. Great speed, lovely big frame Bike to ride with a big 16 ,18 L petrol tank. The weight distribution is well balanced to manoeuvring this bike round the bends on the road is clearly a fulfilled sensation. Very economical fuel use in the town or city and even better use on long roads. I use this bike as my other vehicle and every opportunity I get to ride, I take my bike out in the rain as well as mostly all in the sunny days. I installed tweeter when the indicaters are used , a timeout, or finding a simple buzzer globe's to replace the indicator globe may solve this problem.

Great value first bike – This is an ideal bike to learn with. The controls are simple and it handles quite well. It's pretty economical while still being a lot of fun. It's a pretty cheap bike but still looks cool. The one minor downer is finding neutral which can be really hard once the engine gets hot. I find it slightly easier to find neutral when I rev it a bit. If… Read more ·  3

you need to ride through prolonged stop-start traffic I would suggest another bike with easier neutral. Also, if you are taller than 180cm I would try other bikes as the GV250 might be a bit of a squeeze. I've only ridden it 2000km so can't say much about reliability. Fun, economical, good looks Finding neutral difficult when engine hot

What a suprise theis little beast turned out to be – At 52 I decided for economic reasons to start riding a bike to work. Looked around & with no real previous experiance decided on the Aquila. Looked at the other small cruisers but they just don't compare in the value for money & looks departments. Got my Ls & bought my bike second hand, though it had less than 2K on it at the time. It is not a sports bike but a great lazy cruiser that turns heads & dosn't cost the earth to run. Great value for money, looks great, parts are cheep if you know where to get them. Forgiving ride whith plenty of poke for a small bike. As has been said before Neutral can be a [censored word removed] but is gets better as time goes by. Other than that it is a great ride.

Excellent – Great looks with great performance. In comparison with other bikes this size, I feel that this bike is the best looking and performing bike on the market for the price. Can't be beat I love the big bike look and feel. It handles like a dream and has a lot of power for a 250cc bike. I have put over 700 miles on the bike in two months with no… Read more

complaints. I am a large man at 6' and 230 pounds and the bike fits me comfortably. It will pull strong all the way up a hill without shifting down. Before purchasing the bike, I did a lot of research. I tried a number of bikes in this engine size and they all felt small. I felt like I was on a tricycle. I talked to different "brand" owners and read all the articles I could find on bikes with this engine size and found that the Hyosung GV250 had the most positive feedback. I know of people taking the GV250 on 200 plus mile road trips with no complaints. Most people with other "brand motorcycles" in this engine size viewed their bike as beginner bikes and would be trading up soon. I found this not to be so with the Hyosung GV250. GV250 owners seemed to be very happy with their bikes and plan on keeping them. After riding my bike, I feel the same way.The gas mileage that the 250 engine offered is a big reason I wanted this size bike along with the price. I get between 60-70 miles to the gallon. This is a lot of bike for the money.I like the two year unlimited mile warranty and the growing accessories list available now. If you search on line you will find just about any item you could want for your bike. I look forward to riding this bike everyday. I wish the odometer and speedometer were in miles and mph. Sometimes the bike can be hard to get into neutral.

Good – At age 50 decided to get bike licence, after a lot of research chose this bike for it's looks (didn't look like a 250cc bike), price and engine specs. So happy I did, only problem is I don't get to ride it as much as I would like. Fuel economy is good, around 300klm to tank, mainly around town riding. On the open road runs nice at around 110 to… Read more

Have added a genuine sissy bar and also fitted a rear rack off a Harley V Rod using a little bit of creative engineering (genuine Hyosung one is ugly). What a Surprise – I decided to come back to riding after many years in the tin box and wanted something cheap and cheerful to get the feel of riding again. a few twisty country rides.

Local accessories aren't cheap but I found an online Korean Hyosung retailer and spec'd the bike for a fraction of the local cost - they also supply parts and my orders arrived at the front door in around a week.

The plan was to clock up a few k's and then trade up to a big name cruiser. I still will but Im now in less of a hurry. A great ride, good usable power for a 250 and looks. It seems to have been said before but the factory setup on the front brake is crap and neutral is a lottery - but both are easily fixed

OK – I think the 1st reviewer "Unknown" is a little misinformed. The Hyosung brand is backed by Peter Stevens Motorcycles as the importer and sold through a dealer network all around Australia. As such it has the same spares and backup as other brands. In fact probably better than some brands. I'd steer well clear of any bike shop that says they… Read more

Good – i bought this bike, and after looking at the reviews on the internet, of different brands of bikes, i am so happy i purchased the aquila. i would like to have an extra 20kph in top gear but that would be braking the speed limit. i have done 12000km and bought the bike two years ago. looks great, easy to ride, no poblems riding down the major highways. i have had problems with front disc brake not working 100%, but now fixed.
