Staria Load very disappointing commercial – I have had a Hyundai Staria Load commercial for 12 months now replacing the previous ILoad with 310000 km on the clock. It amazes me how wrong Hyundai got it with the commercial version being only front wheel drive. The desiel turbo lags I find it pretty gutless of the line and has a habit of not accelerating when you need it to leaving you exposed to potential accidents at roundabouts and the such. Using it on hilly wet roads is pretty entertaining as it will suddenly hit boost and wheelspin then go into limp mode its pure guess work if you will actually get across the intersection or not. I have brought this up with the dealer at every service and there response is thats just the way they are tritons do the same. Then the headlights are so low that driving in dark on country roads gives you shadows and in the wet unable to see potholes or water pooling on roads and they are mounted in front bumper corners prone to being hit in carparks. Pretty much a very lacking as a commercial vehicle ,over teched for a commercial the lane departure system can be to aggressive on freeway speeds in wet, not a patch on the old ILoad. The domestic version being AWD may be ok but I would tell everyone to stay away from the front wheel drive commercial version. Personally i would have my old 310000 km ILoad back in a heart beat.

Great car to drive and perfect for large families – I was tossing up between buying this car and the Kia Carnival. In the end, I bought the Staria for its higher ceiling, which meant being able to put our infant safely in her seat from inside the van. Pros: - Large interior space and seating for 8 adults - Large boot space and roof height - Fun car to drive with all the technology you expect in a modern car. Engine is smooth and responsive
Cons: - Boot and sliding door are heavy to open and close (wish I spent a few thousand extra for the electronic tailgate and sliding doors). A vacuum effect makes left sliding door a little hard to open - A bit of wear and tear within the first 18 months (i.e. rubber seal next to sliding doors already tearing)
Tip: Avoid the black version if possible. It gets dirty very easily
I would highly recommend this car

Great improvement – We replaced our 6 year old IMAX with a new Staria, both petrol. The IMAX was $41K 6 years ago, the Staria $52K, so it should be better and it is. The old IMAX was more of an airport/crew bus, the new Staria would also suite large families but isofix is only in row 2. Positives: Safety, power, 8 speed auto, bigger, more comfortable, centre console, ride and handling, fuel consumption (7l/100km highway see picture), seat configurations are much more flexible, wireless Android auto and charging, super quiet, bigger, looks mad Negatives: Standard AC not climate control, stereo very poor on default (needs the bass on max and mid and treble near minimum to sound OK, this may be fixed with a software update down the track), looks mad
