Had a terrible experience today… Staff member I had never told me her name she was firm with me from the start & not friendly at all. When I came in I asked if ‘oh could have a shower at the end’ which there was one right there in the room even though it was $350 she said ‘no’ there’s no time?! I was cold as a/c cranked and I asked for firmer massage so did my friend in another room and both got told ‘no’ it’s a relaxation massage which is medium not firm!! I was shocked & staff don’t seem happy. In the end, the cleanser used nearly burnt my face off stinging hurting so I had to cancel the rest of my facial and nurse my face for the last 1/2 hr as my face was on fire which btw I’ve never had a reaction in my life in a facial. She went on to tell me that the formula was changed recently and still wanted to continue even though she too looked concerned. I asked for a Zertec she says no they are out and then I asked another staff member later and it appeared. I still paid $350 with no facial given no compensation no sorry, due to burning. Not much care or follow up to see how I was…I’m still recovering tonight and sooo upset. Btw, I had that shower & cold to help cool my face down. Only nice part was the high tea food itself but it is very small. And btw very hot / humid in Balinese garden with mozzies.

Ikatan Day Spa was a quite disappointing experience and not worth the money in my opinion. The location is great and I was very exited when I entered the beautiful Balinese looking garden, my expectations were high. My partner had paid 420 Dollars for a 2 1/2 hour massage, that included facial, body and feet. The room where I got my massage was dark and cold. When I undressed I was getting already cold. On the bed after a while of massage I started shivering and asked for an additional sheet. For 2 hours I was freezing and hoped it would be over soon. The aircon was blowing cold air in the room and I was told it had to be like this otherwise it would be uncomfortable for the masseuse to work. I could go out in the sun now to warm up!!! Outside I got a glass of bubbles, the sun was shining and I could warm up and I enjoyed the foot massage a lot. It was fantastic. Overall a disappointing experience for that high amount of money.

The environment at Ikatan Day Spa is undeniably beautiful – the setting is tranquil, lush, and very well presented. Unfortunately, the actual service did not live up to the standard expected for the prices! The receptionist staff also left a lot to be desired. They were reluctant to offer suitable alternatives when I couldn’t have the pedicure (due to shellac polish on my toes). When they eventually changed the treatment which was an extra 30mins massage and a 'foot treatment', they simply added the extra cost on top – which felt like very poor form and not at all customer-focused.

The massage was extremely disappointing. Despite asking multiple times for a firmer massage, the therapist did not adjust the pressure at all. It wasn’t that I wanted a deep tissue massage, just something slightly firmer than the very light, ineffective touch I received. I left feeling unsatisfied and frustrated after it and was left covered in oil which felt awful. To make matters worse, my partner was offered the magnesium oil upgrade without being told it came at an additional cost, which we only found out after.

After the massage and facial I had to walk to another part of the grounds for the foot treatment - I was not offered any sort of slippers or thongs which I would have thought is a small but nice gesture that would align to the exclusive and award winning service they are selling. Little things like that matter.

The facial, to be fair, was excellent – thorough, relaxing, and the highlight of the experience. But the foot treatment was a complete waste of money: essentially just a light file and barely-there extremely light massage that provided no benefit or relief.

Overall, the reception staff came across as cold and unwilling to go out of their way to provide a truly welcoming or tailored experience. For the amount of money charged, the service was extremely disappointing.

I would not recommend Ikatan Day Spa for a massage – they do not offer any level of firmness, nor do they respond well to requests. While the environment is lovely, the lack of warmth and care from the staff, coupled with the poor value for money, and lack of the small things that make you feel like you really are in an exclusive and high end establishment means I would not return.

Follow-up  · If the masseuse would have been able to offer a firmer pressure massage this would have been better. Being flexible as a masseuse is essential to ensure your clients are satisfied. The receptionists were not warm or willing to be considerate of the changes we asked for which were well within the services they already offered. Service with a smile and a genuine willingness to find a solution with the snarky face or eye rolling would be a good start. I expect to be treated with respect regardless of the price of the service, and at the premium rates they charge - I expected way more of a gentle, helpful and 'nothing is a problem' approach. The amount of oil used was too much and I had to use the shower in the room afterwards or else feel like I was ready to be deep fried! It felt awful and slippery and not nice at all.

Disappointed – We had a Lokasi Package for 2 this morning, just to let you know, yes we know it's a relaxing massage, but my husband's massage was more of a light rub than a massage, they asked what pressure and he said medium, but as I said it was more of a rub, mine was fine. Then the head massage, we feel this was 10-15 and again mine was ok but my husband's was again hardly a rub, he asked for a bit harder, she said it was relaxation, which we knew, he felt it was just annoying, doing nothing. For someone who suffers with a bad neck, he feels no different, went in with a stiff neck, still has a stiff neck. And not feeling relaxed at all. Considering the cost and our Christmas Gift to each we are very disappointed. Time was exactly 1.5 hours from the moment we went in, included changing etc, so feel the massage wasn't the full time and the head massage was 10-15 mins!. I hate to complain but very disappointed, the spa is beautiful, and the staff were lovely, but sadly the massage not so great. Compared to other places on the coast the massage was nothing special.

Fantastic service and Communication – We had a marvellous time. The service and communication from all staff was exceptional from the moment we entered for our special treat to finishing with a refreshing glass of bubbles. 3 hours of pure bliss. Thank you Ikitan.
