Following this, they requested additional documents again, so I provided my official tax return, which clearly shows my most recent residential address. Despite submitting legitimate government-issued documentation, my account was still declined without any explanation. Their final response was simply: “We are unable to proceed with your application and cannot comment further on our decision.” This is completely unacceptable behaviour for a financial platform. Many people in Australia — especially renters and migrants — naturally have different addresses across documents. Rejecting an application after repeated document requests, while refusing to explain the reason, shows a lack of transparency, professionalism, and respect for customers. I strongly advise others not to waste their time or share sensitive personal documents with this company. There are far more transparent and professional crypto exchanges available in Australia.

Independent Reserve has now confirmed privately that my application was rejected because it was deemed “outside their risk tolerance.” No specific reason, rule, or unmet requirement was provided, despite weeks of delays and the submission of extensive documents, including my driver’s licence, bank statements, visa, and official tax return. This confirms my original concern: the company collects highly sensitive personal information, then hides behind vague internal “risk” policies while refusing to provide any meaningful explanation. This is not transparency. It is a one-sided process where the customer carries all the burden, and the company provides zero accountability. Prospective users should think very carefully before sharing personal documents with a platform that can reject you without clear justification and simply tell you to “try another exchange.”

I've been with IR since 2017. I've neer been a finance guy but their platform has been easy to use and logical from day one. Fees are reasonable and they've always been great with support when needed. I've mainly used the desktop version but have recently discovered how much easier and quicker the iPhone app is! I said to your support team member I was planning on sending crypto to a family member in America, your support representative wanted that public address, even though I had no intention of sending it from independent reserve, I found this very inappropriate. I then tried to send some crypto to my other crypto wallet and it was highly suspect as well, which was complete rubbish. And I'm sure I won't see this comment on any forum in relation to independent reserves services. You can keep the $30 of bitcoin that you offered me. And I wish you all the best with your endeavors.

Just avoid. I know their fees seem low, that was what lured me in too. But it's been a two week saga, and I'm just done.

Ok the platform is good and easy to buy and sell crypto. The problem is with the withdrawals. So they use Google Authenticator for this. So Google Authenticater is totally useless and doesn't work. So it's like having a bookie that doesn't pay out on winnings. So totally unsatisfactory. So go to someone else you can actually withdraw from. Good platform, though personally would recommend putting in place a loyalty program for long standing customers where transaction fees are reduced or offer free end of year tax reports. There are many competitive sites now that have much lower transaction fees and IR needs to remain competitive. Newsletters seem to also be quite behind in crypto news and ideally this is an area which could definitely improve. Show details

I found it relatively easy to set up an account and since then have been able to buy/ build my crypto investment. The reporting & regular statements are great. Over all, simple to use and understand.

Have been trading with IR for about 2 years now. Found the website easy to manage and navigate and trades are actioned quickly. Only concern is that the very low value Cryptos actual price does not show on the graphs - only displays as 0.00. All in all very happy with Independent Reserve.

Straight forward website to use and navigate. Secure, requires MFA on login and on distribution. One banking issue in the 7 years I've been with them and support were quick and helpful. If I had one issue, it's that they could more easily provide reports which would help with tax. You are essentially left to pay for this or design your own spreadsheets. Show details

Reserve have added useable functionality through mobile apps, more user friendly website interfaces, and trading tools that allow users more flexibility in their crypto journey.

Fiat on/off ramp options are also readily available, and from my experience are more than adequate for 98% of users.

10/10 highly recommend to anyone looking for an exchange that is trusted, secure, and offers great functionality for its users.

The trading fees are very reasonable for buying and selling. The only small improvement I’d love to see is more flexible withdrawal/transfer fees, as they currently feel a bit high for smaller transfers. It’s a minor point though, overall, Independent Reserve remains my go-to exchange for reliability, transparency, and outstanding support.

A simple to use platform which allows trading only the most legitimate cryptos. I like the security features and reporting functionalities. The only issue is the graphs/tracking doesnt show your portfolio performance and instead accounts for personal contributions.

Very easy platform to negotiate, lots of good tokens to trade, I always get my order filled within an hour at the most and usually smaller orders are immediate. Easy to withdraw funds, if I had a criticism it would be that I would like a higher withdrawal limit. Show details
