Jackeroo Flinders 4 Burner

Passes the test of time – Bought this 4 burner Flinders Jackaroo 10 years ago at Kmart. Use it regularly for barbies and for roasting Sunday dinners. Cooks really well as a grill, barby, AND as an oven. Brought it with us 6 years ago when we moved 'up North' and still use it regularly. Even with the UK elements it is still going strong and looks great. Even the igniter is… Read more
still working. There's nothing up here that can compare to it in size either unless you pay a fortune either. I have always kept it under a barby cover from new and being in UK now have also built a barby shelter for it. Spray regularly with WD40 or something similar and this Barby looks like it will go on forever?
Great – Easy to operate 4 burner gas bbq. I use the 9kg bottles and they last a long time more than 10 times). Easy to clean too, easy to move around under my pegola area and a smooth operating item with no hassles. Recently started using the side plate and its great if you dont want to dirty your inside kitchen, keeps the smell and mess outdoors. Show details
Don't let size fool you – Don't let the size fool you. It is big. It has got 4 burners but the cooking area is the size of 2 burners. The heat is uneven on the grill. So turning up the heat creates small hot spots that burn the meat yet undercook in other areas. You can compensate by constantly turning the meat but who wants to do that. Apart from the poor cooking… Read more
performance it is durable and easy to clean. I owned one for 5 years and it still works including the piezo ignition.
Low heat – We have not been able to get the BBQ to heat up high enough to cook meat without stewing it. I removed the deflectors to try and get more heat rising and only had limited success. Next curb side rubbish pick up out it is going and I think that we will buy a Weber Cube Have tried everything just can not get it hot enough
Jackaroo Grange - Good Value BBQ – We have had our Jackaroo Grange for about 12 years now and it has been a great BBQ. It has stood in Alfresco's at 3 of our houses now and has only been protected by a cover the past 3 years. After 12 years you would expect some wear and tear and it has plenty. However, give it a clean, I like to use a concentrated solution of dishwashing… Read more
detergent, and it comes up surprisingly well, especially the enamelled hood. I would definately recommend using a cover which I think would extend the life of the paint work considerably. The BBQ still has all the original equipment, including hoses as supplied and even the ignitor still works.
We have used it to BBQ as well as cook roasts. Our model doesn't have the temperature guage so it was a bit of trial and error to roast, but we never had a complete fail, and once we had it right the results were great. The cast iron plate lost its coating after a couple of years which was annoying because it would rust quickly.
I tried getting it coated in Teflon which lasted a couple of years but I wouldn't bother again. The best solution was to use the BBQ sheets available from Bunnings, etc. We used our first sheet for about 6 years before replacing it with a new one. The grill has also suffered from rust but keeping it oiled seems to be the best solution.
We will soon be replacing the Jackaroo with a shiny new Electrolux in built BBQ which BTW costs as much as 10 of the Jackaroos, but we won't be retiring the old girl just yet. It will be used at our rental property and I wouldn't be surprised to see it last at least another 6 years. Great value for money, very reliable, especially the ignitor. BBQ plates rust too easily,
Rotisserie – We received this BBQ as a gift for xmas. We purchased a Rotisserie as we use ou BBQ regularly. Are you aware that you cannot attach the Rotisserie to the holes provided on the left hand side. We had to drill new holes lower down as the lid will not close if using original holes. Nice and compact
Great so far! – Works perfect, looks great. Can't believe it was only $199 at K-Mart. I still compare from time to time, other comparable BBQs when I'm at places like Bunnings, BBQ Galore...etc. No comparison with price. Hope the durability lasts over time. Then I'll know its a bargain for sure. The six burner was $100 more. Considered that one but it was overkill for my balcony. Still, absurdly cheap price! Price, quality Show reply
Tried this brand – I got this 3 years ago still working strong, used to have a webber, works at about the same standards, only problem is that when assembling this bbq make sure you secure it tightly, may need to tighten after about 2 years. You have to be carefull not to tighten the wheels too tight, can get stuck. I really like the roasting rack and themomiter good features good price reliable, gas efficient assembly, make sure secure
For it's price, it's very good – When buying a BBQ for under $300 you don't expect much, which is why this bad boy is a good buy. It's stylish looking with a metalic black finish, and most importantly offers a consistent and controlled heat to cook off. We're yet to own this for a long period of time so I can't comment on it's durability, but if we get two years out of it (I'm… Read more · 1
sure we will) it will easily be money well spent.
We bought this from KMART and huge credit to them as they honoured a misprint of it's price ($229 instead of $299) on their mobile site. Good for cooking, looks great The wheels are a bit tinny
