I bought a bag of Julius dog food yesterday, from Aldi at Seaford & I checked it was still in date & it was, until the 11th November. When I opened the fridge this morning, to feed her, I could smell it & it wasn't even open. I would have returned it only I don't drive, & I live at Hackham. Waste of money when things are si tight at the moment. Show details

Please explain! – I was buying the Julius 1.2Kg can in 2020 for 79 cents. I noticed that during the pandemic, the price increased a couple of times and almost tripled in 2 years. The can is now selling for around $3.32 which depicts a 420% increase. Even though other brands have also skyrocketed, this increase is unjustified and totally unacceptable Show details

False information – My dog is allergic to beef. Many dry food products have meat by products including beef however your chicken dry food has 2 different coloured pellets. My dog has had a reaction to your product which indicates to me that there is more beef product than anything else. My dog has eaten other dry foods with beef by products without a reaction. The… Read more

chicken dry food should be labelled chicken and beef purely based on the 2 different coloured pellets. Photo attached. Can you please ensure what is the main ingredient, as in this case chicken, is in fact the main ingredient. I now know I cannot and will not by this product ever again. My dog does not need to suffer due to your false advertising.

Aldi - Julius Meaty Bites – I purchased Julius Meaty Bites from Aldi last night and came home and fed my dog, I wasn't sure that he'd like them. He scoffed them all down quite quickly. When I got up this morning his water bowl (that was full when I fed him) was bone dry! He has never drunk so much water in such a short period of time & seems a bit under the weather this… Read more

morning too. So I checked the label and they contain '1.5% crude salt'. The package claims them to have 'no artificial colours or flavours' & 'nutrionally complete and balanced'. I don't believe they are nutrionally complete or balanced, in fact they are quite the opposite and therefore unhealthy for our canines. I don't think they should even be allowed to sell them.

What doesn't work for one works for another! – I disagree with the negative reviews on this product and am disappointed its been discontinued. My dog absolutely loved it and thrived on it, with absolutely no problems. He had been tried on just about every top end expensive brand from Pet Stock and none worked on him until I switched to Julius Gold. Now I have to start searching again for that kibble which he will eat. Sad sad that Aldi felt compelled to listen to the negative feedback. Show details

JULIUS TREATZ CHICKEN TENDERS FOR DOGS – Noticed my dog drinking excessively after eating this item......he doesn't do this with any other treats i have given him. I think there must be too much salt in them. I tried writing to company and Aldi unsuccessfully. Just wished to warn other pet owners as i believe too much salt is dangerous for them. Show details

Garbage – The quality of food is trash, ebery dog I've had gets sick from eating it regardless of their age/breed. My mum tried my dog on the canned version and now he's sick; diarrhoea, can't eat, barely drinks and is now thinning. What a joke. Show details

Made my dog VERY SICK – I am not accustomed to writing online reviews though I feel compelled. This 'dog food' shouldn't be fed to your dog under any circumstances. My boy is a healthy, 3 year old pug, with little more than eye infections from time to time, I gave him this food and he ended up at the vet, put on an IV and lost 2kg. There is something dangerous in this 'food', it should not be allowed on consumer shelves. DO NOT feed this to your dog. Show details

Dont!!! My dog is sick :( – Dog didnt like it, and now shes sick. It may just be allergies in her case, it may be worse. Given how many bad reviews are here for this product, i feel it should be taken off the shelves. Cmon ALDI, Dogs lives are worth it. The backlash would not be worth it if u dont. Thats a warning, not a threat. Show details

Beware, this product nearly killed my dog – First time I used this brand of Dog food for my six dogs, they did not like it one bit and did not want to eat it.. I left it in there bowls and they started eating it. After a few days I noticed one dog losing weight quite quickly. By this time he was getting sick. He had decided to go outside and eat green tomato leaves and ends up with toxic… Read more

Apparently cat s$#t tastes better – I purchased a large bag of this for my pug, who has never been fussy. Despite the food being in his bowl, he will not touch it and barks in hunger. For a dog that eats cat s$#t, that tells me all I need to know about this product and I won't be buying it again. The biscuits just look rubbishy and are quite dusty and crumbly in the packet. recommend these biscuits at all. I have owned dogs all my adult life, cats and chickens so where I can make a saving I will, but this product is absolutely not worth the money.

Julius is better than Optimum – Aldi has not had Julius lite in stock for months - our dog had been happy and healthy with this for five years. I prefer to give her the lite version, as she's a big eater. Changed to the normal Julius food, but she put on weight. So tried the Optimum brand (also from Aldi) which is 'used and recommended by Dr Chris Brown'. Well, it's nearly $12… Read more

for 2.6 kg, not exactly a bargain. Optimum is giving my dog runny poos, and yes I did introduce it gradually as suggested on the packet. Also, she will eat almost anything else in preference to Optimum. So Aldi, please bring back Julius Lite!

Made a huge difference!! – I adopted my beautiful Labrador x Border Collie at 10 weeks old - he had very dry skin causing serious dandruff, dry fur and itching. He didn't have fleas or mites so my vet recommended changing his diet. I chose Julius pupper food as it is named #1 dog food by Canstar and slowly introduced, apparently changing diets can cause upset tummies. His… Read more

This is just what my working dogs need! – My dogs love this food, especially the chicken one. Been using this for a few years and if you read the bag it is actually better than a lot of the high end dog foods. Their coats are amazing! Julius Gold Adult – Look this is not the highest rated food for dogs out there, but it is OK. It's complete and balanced to AAFCO guidelines and is also formulated by a nutritionist as the bag claims. There is also different varieties for different life stages (e.g Puppy) These are the very basics you want to look for when choosing a dog food and this food does cover… Read more

the basics. The ingredients are all natural, no colours or artifical preservatives, which ticks my boxes when looking for a food for my dogs. I have been feeding the Adult version for about 3 months now, it's been okay as part of all of my dogs diets but it must be noted they do get supplemented with other things and this is not their sole diet. It keeps their poos firm which is great as one of my dogs has IBD and keeping poos firm is tricky. My toy poodle has a fast Metabolism and if I didn't supplement her while using this food, I think she would lose condition. My Cavalier lost weight on it but she needed to anyway and seems to be maintaining an ideal weight at the moment. I would recommend this food as a base for a dogs whole diet, not on its own. It's $7.49 for a small bag which is okay for a fortnight's worth of food for Small breed dogs, but I would think it's not terribly cost effective for someone with larger breeds of dog or many dogs. I would definetly not recommend the larger bags of Julius dog food that ALDI sells, the red beef and the blue chicken bags, that is way worse nutritionally then this one. Anyone that feeds their dog the bigger bags that I've seen, all have dull coats and scratching, and weight loss. I've asked what they feed their dog and the answer has always been 'Aldi big bags'.

Dog won't eat it – Poppy is part Labrador. She has a voracious appetite. She will eat gravel if it looks like kibble. She can and does swallow her entire bowl of most brands of dog food in one gulp. She would if permitted eat her entire body weight in most dog food, and then want more. But she won't eat this. Not even with gravy. Show details

Should have listened. Dog vomited twice – My autoship of a good brand food didn't deliver on time (that's a whole other story) so for convenience I grabbed a bag of dog food from ALDI when doing my regular shop. up and the vet said it was fine. We're just at the end of the bag today, and not last night but the night before our poor boy threw up twice. We've had him for over 2 years (he's 4) and he's never thrown up before.

Glad to see the end of the bag. Won't be buying ALDI dog food again.

And their marketing team is worried about a couple of mouldy strawberries?

Smells awful – My dogs (2 Jack Russells) are not fussy and eat anything, they ate this without even thinking about it lol. Aldi Cost Cutting at the Expense of Your Best Mate – Aldi has just relaunched its dog food range saying Delious new Recipe but when compared to the old recipe crude protein, crude fat, crude fibre and energy are down percentage wise so our best mate will be eating inferior nutrients now but still at the same price. Great dog food for dog on a diet – The vet said my dog was obese, and despite trying all the different brand of 'lite' dry food, she was not getting any lighter.
