Jura Impressa A9 Not a great machine but is a great company/brand – The Impressa A9 has provided me with some headaches. This model is no longer for sale and for me has been disappointing compared to the machine it replaced - a JURA ENA 5. In 3 years it has broken down twice but I must say the Team at JURA took my concern onboard and they organised for the machine to be collected and repaired at no cost. JURA were… Read more
great and whilst this machine was out of order, I pulled the old Ena 5 out of storage and used it. It is reliable and stills makes a nice cup of coffee. The Impressa does make a nice cup of coffee, perhaps a little more heat in it would be good but as an automatic coffee machine it does the job. I would recommend JURA as a brand to look at when buying pricey automated machines, there are some great models available today from JURA but for the time being I will give the A9 another.
ABOUT A "COFFEE LOVER " WHO HAD A FAULTY PRODUCT & REFUND DENIED – I did my research before we purchased our Impressa A series and read as many reviews as possible and also read and learnt about coffee beans also. Why? because we want this flavour of coffee at home the same as when we go to our fav cafe and have coffee. a quick analogy would be placing 91 octane fuel into a car that deserves 98 octane fuel. So back to coffee , its all about flavour, smooth with certain notes and characteristics we tried certain brands and flavours and upon reading reviews certain beans that had been roasted to a dark flavour or had additives in to change flavour end in being tacky - gummy - oily which you can see in the shine of the bean and has been repeated in many a review. And even leave a residue in the container where stored.Yes we do steer clear of this. We have seen quiet a few examples where brands have 5 beans highlighted on the front of the packet with only 3 of the beans shaded/filled in and medium roast written below it.The impressa takes care of the rest:) to how fine a grind we leave ours on medium and then the strength of the flavour can be fine tuned also light-medium-strong-extra strong-double shot so forth. If this machine did not replicate the flavour or better of what we would normally drink i would not have made such a purchase. Freshly ground beans , kept and stored correctly. Yes Jura does make a provision for pre ground coffee , IF YOU HAVE TO USE IT ( why ?? freshly ground beans is why we go this road ) (nothing better !! ) there are cheap and practical funnels at local shops with long ends that will not release any grounds at all into the machine - Yes we take care of our machine - its an investment and we look after our machine and it looks after us - trouble free with quality coffee. We pour our water from a water filter into our jura water holder which also has a filter - yes clean water is important to any taste , whether drinking water, coffee, beer and wine or any craft that requires fine flavour.
Milk has never been an issue our milk in the A series comes out hot , yes and i don't mean scalding i mean that we test it first so we don't burn lips / tongues. We also have the milk frother with 2 discs one for silky and one for froth . These make for incredible combinations of recipes for coffee and other milk based ideas. It does save on milk cleaner and is easier to maintain . So we have options which are based on our preference at the time. Also using our friends Jura who has a steaming wand planted directly in the milk to heat up gives the most silky presence and taste. If we do use the milk functions regardless on any device gets cleaned and flushed thoroughly , for the machines sake and ours. Eliminating any blockages and Bacteria is not nice to taste and smell .it is important to look after valves and pipes in your machine as you would do most appliances , would you not clean your ninja bullet shake? or would you enjoy drinking last weeks Health shake with it?
We hand wash the grounds container so not to encourage mould and stains , it stays clean and so should your coffee.
On the odd occasion very rarely the machine warned that it was to hot to boil water.Resulting in turning the machine off to let rest for a minute or two. This was pre empted by Jura and The warning indicator integrated into the function of the machine to let us know.We put it down to air bubbles when it was low on water and remove and refill the water container and or filter.
The Jura A series has been faithful to us and does not let us down , it looks fantastic which really is a secondary cosmetic bonus It does looks Nice! not like we bought a scuba diving outfit tanker looking contraption with valves and switches hanging of it !
Basically its like most investments bought with hard earned dollars.look after it and it will look after you
learn about it , what you put into it is what you will get out of it - scuse the pun - not intended - lol
same as a washing machine, computer, smart phone - they all have many functions and options that we don't even utilise .
Knowing we are time poor and want plug and play remedies all good things require time and knowledge to be utilised to its best capacity.
Enjoy Drinking fine Coffee - We Do - Thank you Jura
I am totally independent from any company and have tried a variety of coffee machines and tasted many a coffee.
FAULTY PRODUCT REFUND DENIED – Model: Jura Impressa A5 coffee machine, Date purchased: Dec 2017 Faulty product, never worked satisfactorily from day one, Refund denied by Jura Australia. Jura Australia has clearly breached the consumer law which did not meet its consumer guarantee requirements and sold me a faulty product which: • The product is not fit for the purpose for… Read more
which it is commonly used.
• The purchased product has failed to be of an acceptable quality.
• Not free from defects.
• It did not live up to its warranty period.
These consumer law and guarantee requirements were pointed out to Kylie, sales manager at Jura’s Hawthorn office on different occasions, however they were totally ignored and a refund was denied on the basis that, the coffee machine had been repaired and it was not faulty, which has never been the case.
Therefore consumers need to be aware that, if a product does not meet consumer guarantees as above, you can reject the product and ask for a refund.
When I purchased this coffee machine from Jura in Hawthorn, I thought it was a good deal at the time, however I have regretted since, as it turned out to be faulty and a total waste of money.
Problems include:
False Messages, appearing on display screen.
Fill Beans, when the grinder is already full with beans.
Empty ground coffee, when the tray has already been emptied.
Too hot, when the coffee machine has just been switched on.
Milk temperature near cold.
Other problems were,
Fill powder, when eighty per cent of good espresso coffee powder was wasted by missing the chute and ended up in the tray below and no coffee was made, when I returned it to Jura and complained, I was given a free plastic coffee pourer spoon with a chute to overcome this problem, but it never worked and still lots of good coffee was wasted by missing the chute. This particular problem was acknowledged by a Jura customer service officer at the time and it was suggested to avoid using espresso coffee powder, this fault still has not been fixed.
After beans were ground the coffee machine was not making any coffee due to a blockage, to overcome or solve this problem I was given lengthy instructions on the phone by a Jura customer support team member in an attempt to fix the blockage including, descaling the coffee machine on two different occasions, using very hot water in the water tank, also a vacuum cleaner suction process, in an attempt to clear the blockage caused by the beans in the coffee machine, unfortunately all these attempts failed and a considerable amount of time was wasted on the phone.
A possible explanation for the blockage was given that, the beans used may have been oily, how a person supposed to know when buying coffee beans in a sealed pack, if the beans are oily not oily or very oily.
Also I have noticed that there were same or very similar complaints online under Jura product review for this particular model, by other unhappy and dissatisfied Jura customers who had purchased this type of coffee machine.
Jura - Always Reliable!!! – Our second Jura coffee maker, Espressa A9, the first being Ena5 and we have found them to be extremely reliable, efficient and they have and continue to provide good, hot coffee. If you purchase quality products (coffee maker and A1 coffee beans), you obtain great coffee! Simple as that!!! Highly recommend to family and friends. Enjoy! Show details · 1
No one can tell me how to fix my issue – The machine like everyone says is easy to use and that would be great had I wanted to purchase a Iced Coffee Maker, unfortunately I wanted a coffee machine and ever since the day of purchase I have had to make my coffee and then put it in the microwave for 60 seconds to make it at a temperature above cold/luke warm. I checked the manual and then… Read more
went into Harvey Norman and it seems that the machines were only designed to make cold coffee as you can not adjust the thermostat. To add insult to injury because it took me a month before I took it out of the box and start using it no refund was available at the retailer.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! – Bought one of these from Harvey Norman in 2009 for $695 - it was a great deal - GFC and all that. We have made only 1200 coffees in all this time and it finally would not grind the beans - motor noise but no grind. I rang Jura in Hawthorn and they advised to bring it in for a service which I did. Silly me - I didn't ask how much nor did they tell… Read more
me until they rang up and said I had to pay $400 for a service! Imagine if you purchased say a Range Rover for $69,500 and the first service was $40,000!!
When I complained they basically said tough luck.
So they still have it and I haven't picked it up - would you?
Great machine, semi decent coffee – Have had the Impressa A9 for almost a year now to replace a Nespresso since we started going thru quite a bit of coffee daily & it's no longer efficient to use coffee pods. I will say that the Jura's are designed to pump out alot of coffees daily without much maintenance. It's fully auto & very easy to use once set up, it auto rinses each time the… Read more
machine is turned on & off, just make sure to run the milk rinse each night if the milk function has been used that day. The machine prompts you when cleaning or descaling is required every few months. Does exactly what its designed to do, pump out coffee.
For a coffee connoisseur however, i will have to say that the coffee the machine produces is only semi decent in my point of view. Even after adjusting the grinds to the finest setting, i find it doesn't quite give me a decent shot (pour is too quick by my timing which tells me that the grinds need to be finer). If you're into drinking milk coffees, this may not matter to you so much but for espresso, ristretto or macchiato drinkers, you will notice the difference. I also wish that the pour was a little hotter, even after my cup has been pre-warmed, i still find it not quite hot enough. Other design issues i have with the machine is, i do wish that the water tank & waster hopper was bigger so that i wouldn't have to empty the grounds or top up the tank after every 6 cups or so.
A9 is A1 !!! – I purchased Jura A9 one year ago. It is used every day and makes approx 8 coffees/ day. Has operated perfectly. No problems. Beautiful coffee. I just follow instructions on display panel do rinses and cleans as required which are not complicated. I looks great in my kitchen. Thank you Jura. Show details
What a waste of money! – Despite buying good quality coffee beans and using distilled water, this machine has started playing up. I bought this because I thought Jura was a reliable brand but I guess these Chinese made machines are no better than those sold in Big W or KMart. I will never buy a Jura again. Show details
Too many faults – Coffee is good, but the constant requests to 'empty grounds ' is annoying at best - even when the tray is empty and cleaned! The messy grind is also an issue, lots of coffee is wasted. The water tank is too small and inconveniently placed. Definitely not worth what I paid for it. Show details
Terrible purchase – Coffee comes out scalding hot, but milk is near enough to cold. Always had delonghi before and thought Jura would be an upgrade, family are yelling at me to bring back the old machine. Really unhappy with it, very regretful of this purchase. Purchased for our new house and only used for the last 2 weeks. Show details
Good machine- just a couple of faults – Easy to use machine . Technical support people are very helpful. Washing out the milk system every night is a must otherwise the milk will not froth properly the next day . Just a couple of criticisms - water tank is far too small , I am constantly having to fill it , coffee is not hot enough .I have had to order another part which is the small… Read more · 1
pointed part which froths the milk which was somehow lost when I cleaned the machine - would be better if these tiny parts were joined .
Easy way out on my A5 – Can one believe it, Jura told me, "my A5 was not suitable if I likes hot coffee, take it to the store you purchased it from and get a refund" No other explanation was offered. What type of manufacture would tell a customer to take the easy way out. Very poor Show details

Find out how Jura A Line compares to other Fully Automatic Coffee Machines
Know better, choose better.
Very good but expensive coffee machine – Advised not to use oil coated beans as these can block the grinders. Good crema, good taste on expensive beans. Cheaper beans lack taste. Quick warm up and very easy to use. Small water tank a bit of a nuisance and messy bean grinds mean constant cleaning. Small bench space a plus. Would probably purchase a DeLonghi on price next time. Disaster – Purchased this machine after being talked into it by the Jura Rep working at Harvey Norman. Wished I never walked into the store that same day! We had a Saeco for 11 years and never had a problem, should of stuck with them. Own the Jura A9 for nearly 9 months now and it has been returned for repairs 3 times already and still not working… Read more
properly. Anyone interested in this machine i would clearly say don't bother, keep walking past. Nothing but trouble since the day we bought it and Harvey Norman are doing nothing to help us with this.
Beautiful design, great coffee – I have been researching super automatic coffee machines for some months. Every time I thought I'd found 'the one!' reviews put me off. However I found a brand new model from the Swiss company, Jura, the 9A. Not the Micro 9 or the Ena 9. I had a demonstration at Harvey Norman in Bunbury. The machine was so new, no one had used one but it turned out… Read more · 5
very intuitive to use. Although coffees are programmable, we tried various pre programmed milk based and black coffees and were delighted by the taste and ease of use. It is foolproof to use, easy to programme, and has a tiny footprint. The machine is delivered with an insulated milk container which keeps the milk for up to 8 hours, and is true one touch machine for about 9 different coffees. The machine has a 25 month manufacturers warranty, one of the best in the industry. I have only just started using the Jura so I am not able to comment on long term usage. The only, possible negative is that the water container is very small, however the coffee is hot, strong and very tasty. It is not cheap at about $1800.00 but is Swiss made, simple to use and takes up very little bench space.
nice machine – Got this from Harvey Norman quite impressed, makes nice coffee And creates hot a froffy milk. Quite expensive for what it is but hopefully last a good period.
Jura ena 9 and A5 dont buy these machines – exactly same issue the machine coffee grinder went stupid after one week kept telling me to fill the grinder with coffee when the grinder was full of coffee beans .so disappointed . Jura response was its my fault because the beans I was using were too oily ..seriously . there is nothing in the warranty to say that I could only use a particular… Read more
bean . they let me replace it with another model as it was less than 14 days that I had bought it . I upgraded to the A5 Jura and guess what after 27 days the same problem arises and I used the beans the store recommended the grinder can not recognise that there are beans in the tray .yet the tray is full of beans .stopped making coffee and the machine keeps asking me to descale it and clean it. ring head office the manager at Jura for customer service tells me they have to test the machine means that i will have no coffee machine for at least two to three weeks and if there is moisture in the machine its my fault .already blaming me before he has even inspected the machine and the warranty wont cover the costs of repairs . seriously .talk about poor customer service. don't buy it waste of time and money. for $1300.00 I expect hassle free good quality coffee every time .these machines don't provide this.
