This is a fully automatic coffee machine and does what it says. It's a somewhat pricey machine at around the $2000 mark, but if you drink a reasonable amount of coffee and especially like a variety of coffee options, this is worth every cent. It… Read more

simple to use, with easy step instructions on the touch screen. There are choices of so many different coffee options, both black and milk ones. It has a milk container that you just keep in the fridge and attach easily for flat while, latte, cappuccino and more. It also does hot water for tea drinkers. There are 4 temperature settings so caters for those who don't like their coffee too hot up to those that want to scald their tastebuds off. There is an app that gives many other options, but at the time of writing this, it's pretty terrible and doesn't work very well. I can see there's huge potential for the App, but I don't think DeJonghi care too much.

Follow-up  · If anyone is wondering, the milk container washes in the dishwasher, but I admit I don’t put the plastic straw part in there. I hand wash that and scrub the inside with dishwashing liquid and a very thin bottle brush. There are four temperature settings so you can make coffee to everybody’s taste.

Replaced my machine as repair parts were delayed – Very happy with this coffee machine. Make a great coffee and I found it easy to set up and use. After 18 months I had issues with excessive water leaking during the descaling process and had the machine checked at the local repair centre who are agents for DeLonghi. The issue was diagnosed and parts ordered. After 2 months as the parts had still… Read more

not arrived we were given a brand new machine rather than have to wait for parts delay. I certainly wasnt expecting that and for this reason I will continue to purchase DeLonghi. In a time when generally customer service for faults is bad to non existent this was very welcoming and appreciated.

Previously was very happy with our machine, which was used several times a day. It had a few negatives, such as needing to be descaled every 3 weeks, useless app (why is it even there), we also found the water tank too small, and it would ask to be filled even though it still had a decent amount of water in it. It made pretty great coffee… Read more

though so we could overlook most of those things, and would have happily bought another delonghi after a decent life span.

But, be aware, this machine will quite literally not allow you to make more than 2000 cups of coffee! A software error will display, and now you’ve got a $2k giant paperweight. This is a known issue. Our machine was only 7 weeks out of its 2 year warranty. The “generous” fix is for us to send the machine in to a service centre, but will have to pay for packaging etc, for an unknown amount of time. Reading other reviews, it is likely to be 30+ days, not including postage time. By this time, we would have spent the money for a new machine on takeaway coffees! This is not acceptable for a machine that cost so much. Delonghi deliberately built in obsolescence and have made the “repair” so difficult and cumbersome that it discourages you to take it up. It is cheaper and easier to just go and buy a whole new machine! Ours certainly will not be another delonghi.

Expensive but worth it! – Although a little expensive this is a great machine, as advertised it produces great coffee with lots of choices and it is very easy to use, the only problem that I have had is getting the Phone App to work correctly. needs emptying. The machine appears to be well made, I did damage the small lid to the milk container and I must say the help from DeLonghi in replacing the part was suburb, they sent a complete new container within 2 days no charge...amazing. My only (slightly) negative comment is the cleaning function uses a fair amount of water as when it powers up it self cleans and when powering off (times you can set) also there is a manual cleaning function after using the milk frothier, but it's only water which means topping up the water tank more often, not a big deal. 'This machine will not disappoint and has my recommendation'.

Great investment – This machine has been amazing. I say its been an investment as the amount we were spending on Coffee vs what we have paid for the machine we have already paid for it after 6 months. ❤️ Love my PrimaDonna Soul ❤️ – Was concerned about the price tag as it is an expensive machine - but totally worth every cent! So simple to use and set up. Fast heat up - ready to make coffee in about 30 seconds. So many choices of delicious coffees. coffee in morning. Milk based drinks creamy and frothy depending on preference. Cleaning relatively easy - full clean 1 x weekly and milk bits 2 x weekly. It is a thirsty machine due to frequent self cleaning functions but this is fantastic. App is painful to use (compared to other smart device apps) but important to get the right grind/temps for different beans you buy. Delonghi beans well suited to the default settings out of the box (other beans require tweaking for best flavour). We have used this machine for over a month now and recommend this machine unconditionally!

Fiddly to use and can't make a decent coffee – The coffee produced is *just* bordering on acceptable I guess, if you're really wanting a coffee and aren't a full-on coffee snob, but nowhere near great - I would put up with this, maybe, if the machine cost a few hundred dollars and the making of said coffee was 'effortless', but not in a $2000 machine - for that money (and the associated… Read more

required level of effort with the PrimaDonna Soul) I want great coffee, and this does not make it unfortunately.

I've had my machine for around 18 months and have decided to sell it because it's too niggly and, as mentioned, the coffee is average at best, despite my best efforts to make adjustments to improve it. I've tried to hang in there because I put a lot of time and energy into researching before purchasing, and don't like to admit defeat (especially for such a significant $ investment). However the time has come to let it go and move on, as we're not getting either good coffee or supreme convenience, so there's really no point in persevering with this machine any longer, as it constantly disappoints (first world problems, I know).

I chose this machine initially for its 'premium' representation, its convenience (one-touch coffee sounded very luxurious, time and effort-wise) and because of the wide range of coffee options. However none of those elements have proven to be true and/or of use, at least not to us. Really we mostly only drink cappuccinos, so the wide variety of drinks available was a bit overkill (I'll take responsibility for that one, however I always thought it would be good to keep your options open if you have guests or the like).

We stopped using the whole milk part of the system about six months ago and went back to our old Breville milk frother because it makes better froth (and because cleaning the Delonghi milk container, particularly the straw part, which gets gunky quickly, was quite annoying). So all this machine has to do now is pour a decent espresso shot, but that it cannot do.

The advertising promises a high level of customisation but none of it actually works to make the coffee 'good', by objective standards. You can adjust the size of drink, the 'aroma' and the grind (to the point where it becomes too fine and clogs and then you have to clean out the machine and go back up a notch, after making 'at least 5' drinks to test if it's worked), but no mixture of available settings actually results in a proper shot of coffee coming out. A 'good' espresso shot is meant to be 30ml extracted in around 25/30 seconds. The best I can get is 40ml (the smallest size possible) in 9-10 seconds (the only way I can get the shot longer in time is to make it larger in volume, which just waters it down more). Draw your own conclusions as to the quality of that coffee vs the industry standard.

And there's always one message or another popping up - the grounds container needs emptying all the time, and don't get me started on the descaling - it's a PITA and comes up way more regularly than any sane person would like (and then takes an hour or so, during which you have to be around to empty the water container several times). And the machine rinses as it turns on and as it turns off, so there always needs to be a container sitting ready under the spouts to capture this water (trust me, you don't want to forget).

The app also is gimmicky and quite useless - I have never been able to get it to connect on my phone, however it does work (patchily) on my husband's (both late model Samsungs, so go figure). It doesn't really do anything meaningful however, and certainly is not 'intuiting' the best way of brewing your expensive new gourmet beans, I can assure you. It's sold as a key part of the Soul package/experience and once you work out it serves no real purpose the whole marketed image of this machine becomes diminished/questionable.

I have finally decided to bite the bullet and sell my machine (others don't seem to mind it it would seem, by the mixed reviews, so hopefully someone else will enjoy it more than I have), and will replace it with something more manual and controllable (not a Delonghi, given their response to my request for advice, see below - this is not a company I wish to support), as this is not exactly 'one-touch convenience' as imagined, and if I have to fiddle around anyway then I'd at least like to get a decent cup of coffee out of it at the end.

I must note Delonghi's 'service' has been underwhelming - I did write to them in desperation asking if there was any way besides what was in the manual (I'd already tried all of those things) to get a longer-brewing shot, but after the first generic response referring me to the manual (d'oh!) and a cleaning video, I asked again, and noted that if the shot couldn't be improved then I believed there was a case to be made for this machine not being fit for purpose (as a coffee machine that's not capable of making anything resembling a standard espresso shot is not fulfilling its advertised/intended function), and that I would like to look into getting a refund, as would be my entitlement under Australian consumer law. Both the request for expert advice as to how to adjust the machine to get a decent shot and the not-fit-for-purpose question were ignored, and instead I was 'invited' to take my machine to a service centre, to see if it could be 'repaired' or 'needed replacement'...based on other reviews I'm aware it could be weeks to get it 'assessed', after which they'll likely tell me there's nothing wrong with it (this is how it has operated from the start, it's not broken, it's just not good at making coffee), and obviously 'refund' is not a word Delonghi likes to entertain. I'm going to chalk this up to my being bamboozled by glitzy advertising and knowing I ought to have known better than believing that a) there's such a thing as a 'fully automatic' coffee machine, and b) that such a machine is capable of making decent coffee. Buyer beware.

My essential vice – Have had this about 16 months ago, replacing a 7 year old delonghi that had made 11000 coffees. Made nearly 2000 coffees with this one. preferences programmed. The milk is super creamy and frothy. I preferred this model against the eco because the milk carafe is a more convenient size. I find cleaning the unit is very easy and convenient and regularly give a a thorough clean . Sensors inform when the bin needs emptying, refilling etc. Descale takes time and yes the drip tray has overflowed a little, a minor inconvenience, so I stop the descale a couple of times and empty the tray, problem solved. I mainly keep an eye on water, bean levels etc . I am very happy thus far with my machine. It's so easy to press a button, select my coffee and be drinking a barista made beverage in less time than it would take to order one in a Cafe. My grandson uses the milk dispenser to make a frothy milo. Yes it's expensive but I wouldn't be without it.

the oracle touch the oracle touch is $2,000 more for what. It doesn't come with as many pre set coffee menu. No wifi or app access so you can't make your coffee from your bed or anywhere, the milk dispenses the perfect amount of milk froth and to how thick you want the froth. The only thing thay makes oracle so expensive is the double boiler so you can steam and extract at the same time. For $2,000 for a machine to make coffee what 10 seconds faster and having to poor your own milk isn't worth it. There's arnt many reviews on delonghi. So it made it hard to decide. but in the end I made the right decision.

The coffee is amazing you sip it and be like how is this coffee real in my own house. Once you try it you'll realize you made the right choice and you won't compare Cafe coffee to this. This machine is the real deal

Disappointing Experience with Good Guys Casula and DeLonghi – We purchased a DeLonghi PrimaDonna from Good Guys Casula, expecting quality, but it couldn’t heat milk properly for caffe lattes. DeLonghi could handle repairs or refunds. The DeLonghi rep didn’t even measure the temperature, just touched the cup and said, “It looks warm to me!” While my partner was explaining the issues, the manager interrupted him, saying, “You’ve talked a lot!” – which was unprofessional and dismissive. Very disappointed with both product and service – wouldn’t recommend either.

temp can be adjusted (I have set to MAX), the milk cannot and is just warm at best. This results in warm coffee. I heat the cup before each use, but still warm coffee. My only solution is to microwave my coffee for 20 to 30 seconds after making it. While this is a simple process, it destroys the ‘fully automatic’ claim for the machine.

The larger the cup of coffee I make, the worse the problem is as it contains more milk. I prefer to make a full mug.

What a pity. If this issue could be resolved, this would be a perfect coffee machine for my use.

Makes Great Coffee – I needed to replace my old coffee machine. Being totally blind, and a lot of things going to touch screen operation, finding a fully automatic machine I can use independently is a challenge. I went to the Good Guys, and was assisted by Fiona. She showed me the PrimaDonna Soul. It is touch screen, but can also be controlled by an app on a phone… Read more ·  1

or tablet. Fiona wasn’t sure if the app would be accessible for me, as I use the voice over screen reader built into Apple products to use my phone, She took the time to contact Delonghi to find out. Suzi Harper one of their reps offered to come in store, and let me connect my phone to a test machine, and see if it would work for me. Suzi spent over an hour with me, letting me test it’s accessibility, and showing me how the machine worked.

While the touch screen on the machine itself is inaccessible for anyone who has a visual impairment the app is mostly accessible. There are some bugs, but they can be worked around if you are willing to do a few extra steps. You can’t wake the machine up using the power button if you want the app to connect. You have to use the app itself to wake it up. Getting the app to recognise the machine can take a few attempts at refreshing the search screen before it will find the connection. Once connected, the screen reader on the phone does not read all information clearly but it does read coffee selection and the preparation buttons.

Love this coffee machine, my old one was about 8 years old. The coffee is great. I love being able to select the coffee of my choice with out being limited to which ever coffee someone has pre-programmed in for me.

I would recommend this product to sighted and visually impaired people. The app does need some work though.

Almost Excellent... but – ✅ Once you go though a period of manual trial and error adjusting the grind and temperature for each bean you use it then becomes a delight to use and the quality of the coffee is good and very consistent. ❓ Despite being "fully Automatic" it requires an appreciable manual input and expertise to set up and get a decent coffee. ❌Milk frother tends… Read more ·  1

to produce milk that is not hot enough - flat whites have to be microwaved. ✅ Convenient to fill the water tank. ✅ Convenient to fill the milk tank and also store in fridge ✅ Convenient to remove the grounds. ✅ Reminders for cleaning, de-scaling, filling ✅ So far appears to be robustly manufactured ❌ The promotional Mother's Day pack takes THREE MONTHS after purchase to arrive - it should have been available at the time of purchase

❓ Adjusting an individual coffee at the time of brewing using the + is very much trial and error. Volume is not specific - how much does it increase for each step? (Quality suffers as it sends more water through the same puck) Aroma is not specific - what does this actually do?

▶ The Coffee Link App... You HAVE to use the app to add a new bean profile and choose the bean roast colour. (Although it says otherwise, you have to use the menu hidden behind the the insignificant icon and hidden drop downs in the top left of the machine screen itself to adjust the grind and temperature of the machine.) You HAVE to use the app to create any customised coffees. I am guessing that DeLonghi chose to do this to leverage the bigger screen and processor capabilities of your phone rather than to build it in to the machine itself. Probably it also allows an easier pathway to correct errors or add new software features ... if they ever bother to do this.

❌The app (used on Android) crashes if I try to use an existing coffee to edit. I have to run the app and log in again then create a new custom coffee to make any changes. ❌ The app is so intuitive (in the mind of the programmer!) that it is difficult to use.

Most of the other functionality of the app is a gimmick

▶ Wish List... ❓ Re-design the Coffee Link App ❓ Touch screen size is barely adequate ❓ Ability to add multiple shots to a custom coffee. (Merely Increasing the volume sends more water through the same puck reducing its quality. I find I have to run the same recipe twice to achieve a bigger volume of coffee.) ❓ It would be nice to incorporate a removable bean hopper to enable a quick change of beans. (The only way to remove a partly filled hopper is to vacuum out the beans)

The machine was grinding beans and pushing ground coffee into the ground coffee space. Took it to the shop, and i was given a replacement machine as this is covered under manufacturer faults.

The replacement machine did the same thing in Jan 23 and was replaced. Now on my third machine.

If you look into the space where ground coffee goes you can see there is an opening, and if any water gets into the grounds from your ground beans internally, its starts backing up the ground beans into this space.

A $2000 machine!?? You have got to be kidding.

Wont be getting another i will take a store credit next time. Never again.

Almost excellent, but well worth having – Please note that this review features some revisions to my earlier comments. Having owned my machine for considerably longer now...an update is probably warranted. The machine itself....easier to clean than my previous ESAM Prima Donna. Not quite as robust a chassis, which means it occasionally leaks water onto the kitchen bench. The need to… Read more

descale so often is a bit frustrating, but if that is what the machine demands...so be it. Descaling and regular routine maintenance is simple.

I find some elements of the machine are quite 'gimmicky'. Endless menus of slight variations on the theme, and each can be customised. I'm really not sure how often most people use this. Same for the app with features like auto wake, auto boil or 'make me my coffee whilst I'm on the couch'..... these really add little to efficiency or convenience.

However, the coffee itself tastes fine. I buy my beans either from delonghi themselves (I see they're available in store at retailers like the good guys) or from a boutique supplier in eastern Melbourne. I doubt I could ask much more of a coffee machine (I get through 5 to 6 cups a day).

Like many people I work from home most of the week. To buy 3 coffees a day from a cafe is laborious in terms of time, and I save $20 a day by having coffee at home (well, maybe $2 in power, milk and coffee beans). So at $2000 it pays for itself in under 6 months. Anything that pays for itself this fast is money well spent.

Delonghi customer service has now improved as well.

So Far We Are Very Impressed – My wife and I have owned this machine for about 6 weeks, and so far we have made about 150 cups of coffee. Although it is still early days there are things we can confidently say. We are very impressed because it is simple to use, offers a wide variety of choices in coffee styles, heats up very quickly, and delivers excellent coffee. We are not… Read more ·  1

coffee aficionados, but we do like good quality coffee at home and this machine delivers it. Cleaning is simple. We have the app on one of our smartphones, and we have used the WiFi function, however we did that only to test, and we have found that it is of limited utility. It does work well, but as you need to be near the machine for various functions we now don't see any point in using it. This machine replaces a fully automatic Gaggia we had for a decade which was a very good machine. However the DeLonghi is a marked improvement in every respect - the quality and variety of coffee is much better, it's easier to clean, the water, bean, and dreg drawer capacities are larger, and overall this machine is easy to use because the digital display screen guides the user. We like that we can lock in an individual Profile per user (limit of 5 Profiles). The machine then remembers the preferences of that Profile. It is simple to set/adjust the settings for an individual Profile to customise preferred coffee type and size. Also the machines settings can be adjusted to suit the beans being used. So far we have made capaccino, flat white, expresso, long black, and cafe latte coffees, but there are more choices available. We selected the machine after considerable research, and after questioning the retailer at length. We were concerned about the price as it was higher than we had expected. As we also bought an extended Warranty (as we did with the Gaggia) the price we paid was high for us. In the case of the Gaggia the extended warranty proved to be worthwhile. However the price for the DeLonghi seemed to be on par with competing models/brands. NB: It is very important to thoroughly read the Directions before plugging the machine into power. My wife is very happy with this machine and in this household that's the ultimate test. At this early stage we recommend this machine unconditionally. It is now January 2024, and so we have had the machine for approx 10 months. We estimate we've made about 1000 cups of coffee in that time. We have not had any issues and the machine has worked flawlessly from day 1. We confirm our recommendation for this product.

Milk Frothing

Worked great for a couple of months, then it started playing up – We bought this late last year and have been using it 2 or 3 times per day since. It does make a good cup of coffee, it has to be said. About a month ago, it started playing up - after making one cup successfully, it would stop part way through making the second cup. For example if you wanted to make two cafe lattes, the first one would be fine… Read more

but the milk would stop about half way through on making the second cup.

The machine makes a sound of steam escaping and then just returns to the home screen leaving you with half a cup of hot milk. As of today, it now does this on the first cup also. You have to select the beverage you want again, then wait until the milk gets to the level needed, then press stop and it will then grind and deliver the coffee.

If you are making a coffee-first beverage, then it dispenses the coffee and then stops part way through the milk. You then have to use the hot milk function to finish it off. So far from being fully automatic, it is now a hands-on manual machine, you can't just push a button and walk away.

I contacted DeLonghi last week but have so far had no reply. I read all the reviews before purchasing, and noticed a few bad ones for this machine to do with leaks, however this is supposed to be a new model, so we decided to go ahead. I also noticed the bad reviews about poor customer service, which we are experiencing now.

For such an expensive purchase, it's disappointing to have it break down so soon. If just getting our money back and buying a different brand was an option, we would be doing that. Unfortunately I think we are now stuck with trying to get it fixed.

Bland tasteless coffee – We purchased the soul for Xmas. After one month of research and fine tuning I think our household all agree that the soul primadonna was a regretful purchase. The coffee comes out bland and tasteless no matter what we try. We went to our boutique cafe and purchased some of their premium beans which taste and smell amazing at their coffee store.… Read more

But trying that in the primadonna soul just comes out bland and tasteless too. We have given up.

At this point this machine will hit us with some caffeine quickly. That’s all it’s good for. It’s fast and easy. But The coffee itself is not enjoyable. It is either too Wartery or too milky. No aroma. No deep rich tones or nutty flavours of the premium beans we have tried.

I went to McDonald’s Mcafe yesterday and the coffee was amazing in comparison to the home brew with primadonna soul. Just night and day. And that’s just McDonald’s coffee.
