After nearly 2 years and near the end of warranty, my experience with my Jura S8 coffee machine is no better. The replacement machine stopped working after 5 months because there was no response from the touch screen so the machine was inoperable. Jura authorised a repair at the local service agent. I collected the machine after 3 weeks but it… Read more

still did not work at all. It had the same non-responsive touch screen.

I returned the machine to the repairer, and it was again returned to me having had the screen module replaced. It then worked.

Then after 12 months new fault developed. The machine failed to deliver the first and/or second coffee. The milk was delivered correctly and the pump then started in order to pour the coffee, but no coffee was delivered apart from a few drops. Then, the machine paused and the message "The Machine is Filling" appeared. The machine then again attempted to deliver coffee and failed. The machine then either reverted to the home screen or froze. Coffee could not be delivered at all.

Jura's solution was for me to remove the grounds tray, put my hand inside the machine and search for a round disc up right inside the machine, and then use a cloth to clean this disc. You can barely get your hand inside the machine and touch the disc, let alone clean it. There is also a risk of damaging the machine because the disc is almost impossible to reach. After persevering and cleaning, the machine poured coffee again. What will fail next?

If difficult internal cleaning is required after the initial 12 months of careful use, then it appears to be a major design or manufacturing failure. I use only top quality beans and clean the machine according to the instructions. The coffee quantity is still inconsistent every day. Sometimes under poured, sometimes overpoured. Plus, the machine never stops pouring coffee cleanly and always runs on for several seconds after the coffee is delivered, squirting, dribbling and dripping.

The cleaning regime is onerous and expensive. Cleaning the milk system does NOT clean the milk frother which must be completely disassembled and cleaned by hand.

This machine is by far the worst of the 5 coffee machines I have owned. I am completely dissatisfied with this machine. If my machine is a lemon, then it should have been be replaced before now. If these faults are common, then this machine should be withdrawn and redesigned. If this is typical of Jura machines, then I would strongly recommend against buying any Jura machine.

Update. I contacted Jura in response to their comment. Despite some previous product issues, I have found that Jura Customer Services take customers' comments seriously and always responds positively. Jura has made a generous offer to replace my machine, which they did not have to do. In response to my comments, they have also offered a higher specification machine, again, something they did not have to do. I cannot fault Jura's customer service and look forward to a great coffee experience in the future. There are very few companies that address customer feedback, customer service and customer satisfaction to this level. I am greatly appreciative of their efforts.

Love this machine – We love our lattes in the mornings and we have no regrets buying this machine. We wanted something that was easy to use and made great coffee. We previously owned two delonghi machines and we decided to try this one as the manager at the store recommended it. It was a little dearer but we were happy to try it and when we add up how many coffees we… Read more ·  3

have made/maintenance products/beans times the price of buying one in the shop 2-3 times a day it has nearly paid for itself. So far we have had this machine for 8 months. I am glad we purchased it. Touch screen is easy to use and there are already premade coffee settings but it is super easy to put in your own coffee setting how you like it. The machine heats up quickly. I find the coffee is better tasting, more crema. The biggest seller for me is the ease of switching milks without cleaning and changing milk containers which I had to do for my previous coffee machine. I love that I can use my almond barista milk for one coffee and easily change to cows milk for the next beverage just by taking the straw out of my almond milk package and popping it into the cows milk to make the next coffee. Have not had any issues so far bar the milk not frothing like there is a hole in the milk tube or something. Usually this remedies itself after a few days and it is back to normal. My partner thinks it may be some air trapped in the machine after cleaning. Other than this happening twice in eight months we have had no further issues. The machine is also easy to clean and it lets you know if it it needs maintenance. The coffee bean lid is nice and heavy securing the beans and keeping them fresh. I think I will stick to Jura brand. I am impressed.

Excellent coffee machine – Very good coffee machine that makes great coffee. It takes a few goes at getting your coffee settings and requirements right. This machine allows you to take control of exactly how you want your coffee with an easy use touch screen with loads of scope for adjustments(strength, temp, quantity). Makes Great coffee but has 1 small design flaw – We upgraded from the F8 which was also a great machine and like the way it makes better milk froth and you can vary it from hot milk to froth. The bean container and ground's container are larger and require less frequent refills. The coffee grinding mechanism is quieter than the previous model too. It has a main dual coffee spout in the middle… Read more

and a second spout combined at the milk frother to make cappuccino etc. at the side. The problem we have experienced is the rinsing tank for cleaning the milk system barely fits on the tray under the milk spout and we have had a few occasions where oversized cups have tipped off the tray . A normal sized cup has no problems so for most people its a non issue. It wouldn't stop me from buying it but we wish the milk could have come out of the centre spout where you could fit any size cup easily.

Fully automated goodness – We purchased the Jura S8 about a week ago after Oogling it for the last 12+ months. Initially when we went into get it we had decided we were going to get the Jura S8 Chrome. We quickly found out that they were no longer being sold as the new S8 Intra had hit the shelves. So after a little bargaining with the Harvey Norman representative we got it… Read more

down to $2499 which was only $200 more than we had initially set out to spend on the old unit. And then...it hit me! I still had a $150 gift card from our fridge purchase a couple of months back, so all in all paid $50 more for the newer machine that apparently has "upgraded internals". It looks good, is pretty quiet, and everything is automated! I love it!

The one caveat that we had was the first unit was damaged out of the box. The screen was faulty, but after a quick email to a Jura they had it sorted no problems and gave us a new machine. They even had the store call US to arrange the swap of the machine.

We've used it several times a day mostly for cappuccino and espresso shots and we've not been let down so far. There's so much adjustment so you can make them however you see fit. We've programmed different settings into each of our drinks so you just switch it on and go.

There's sensors for EVERYTHING. Low water, low beans, filter change, water catch full, coffee grinds need emptying, milk line cleaning. Literally everything. Any Tom dick or Harry could use this machine. It does require a touch of fine tuning for each drink based on the beans you are using, but that's to be expected. You can set how strong the flavour is, how many mills of coffee you want out, how hot you want it etc etc all with the scroll, swipe or press on the screen. It's really simple. There's plenty of height adjustment. In the photos below that's a 450ml double wall cup under the milk extractor and it fits with more upwards adjustment for cups larger than that.

There is an app but I don't find it too useful as you have to leave the machine on all night to make a coffee in the morning. Good maybe if you walk past the kitchen in the morning, switch on the machine and as you were getting out of the shower opened the app and got it to make your drink? Other than that I don't see much point in it.

When it wants a clean you just put water in the dedicated cleaning container, take the milk line from the milk fridge (or plug it in if you don't have one) drop a tablet or two in the fridge divider and click "clean immediately" and it'll do everything until you have to put more clean water in. Much easier than our old machine.

We've found all the coffee beans seem to have extracted pretty well with a nice flavour. Sometimes you have to adjust the strength to suit certain beans or they will come out bitter.

The only 2 things about this machine that are annoying is the fact that except for on one very particular angle you cannot see how full the water tank, and the base bit where your cup sits isn't real chrome - it's plastic. Given the price I would expect it to be chrome/metal.

With the exception of that there isn't much I would change.

Reliable Machine that provides a great cup of coffee – I wanted to delay writing this review until the machine was tried and tested. After 2.5 years I can give the machine 5 stars. After purchasing numerous Delongie Coffee Machines all of which gave problems and even after servicing did not last long I wanted to try a different brand. Looking for an automatic machine as well as one that could be… Read more

used with ground and beans I went for a Jura S8 as it provided a flat white as well as many other types of coffee. The Pulse Extraction definately tastes better but only provides a small coffee. It took a while to get my head around the maintenance program but I have faithfully kept to the instructions given. It hasn't missed a beat so even though the maintenance products add up, in the long run it is cheaper than having to send it away to be serviced. The support service was also excellent when needed in the early stages.

Great coffee, but cumbersome clean up – After replacing 2 top of the line Delonghi coffee machines in 16 months, I decided to purchase the Jura S8 last week. The quality of the coffee is fantastic and great ease of use in making black coffee. My only negative so far is cleaning the milk system. When making a milk based coffee, you have to take the nozzle and put it into the milk… Read more

cleaning plastic jug with solvents supplied. You have to fill this jug with water to dissolve the solvents and then press the screen several times to start the cleaning process. Then you have to remove the tube, take the tub to the sink and once again fill it with clean water. Then back to the machine for a final rinse. Then take the remaining water in the jug and pour it out in the sink.

A very cumbersome cleaning method. AT least the Delonghi, all I had to do it turn a knob on the milk carafe and it cleaned it out quickly.

With Jura, it is such a hassle to do this in the morning when all you want to do it make a quick coffee and go to work.

Also. they do not supply a milk carafe. I had to go online and order one which costs over $40.00 AUD and plastic nozzle supplied does not even go to the bottom of a milk carton.

For the price, it is a great coffee machine, but ease of use after making a milk-based coffee is too hard and too be honest, I regret spending so much money on something that makes my mornings harder. Making coffee should be a easy process.

Jura S8 Owner Review after 8 Months – After using this coffee machine for 8 months, here is my experience. My original machine was replaced at my request because of the problems with inconsistent amounts of coffee delivered and with the coffee pouring not shutting off cleanly (continuing to shoot streams of coffee into the cup and dribbling for several seconds). The replacement… Read more

machine is no better and sometimes underpours or overpours both milk and/or coffee. The coffee delivery still does not shut off cleanly with streams and dribbles continuing for several seconds.

Another disappointment is the effort demanded by the machine to clean and maintain it. After milk coffee drinks, instead of the machine just automatically rinsing the milk system as in earlier Jura models, this machine (and probably other Jura machines) requires you to use Jura's milk-system cleaning crystals (hugely expensive) to run a cleaning solution through the whole milk system, followed by a separate fresh water rinse. To perform these two operations, you need to dissolve the crystals, run the cleaning solution though, then wash out the supplied container several times to eliminate the cleaner, and then refill the container with fresh water for the fresh water rinse. Because you need to rinse the cleaning solution out of the container thoroughly, I estimate that this these two operations use over 1.5 litres of water each time and several minutes of your time. If you use your machine daily, that is at least 540 litres of water down the drain per year. You also need to remove and dismantle the milk frother and manually clean it each time. The machine itself must still be cleaned periodically as with most machines.

Descaling is not required if you use the Jura grey water filters. However, these filters are very expensive at around A$26 each, and last 2 months (or 50 liters). That's $312 per year. If you add this cost, the cost of the cleaning crystals and the machine cleaning tablets, you are looking at a substantial running cost. Jura warns against using other milk cleaners or machine cleaners. In fairness, other-brand machines can use water filters that are equally expensive, and also require cleaning.

My original comments about the flimsy materials used in this machine still stand. Materials are thin plastic panels and mouldings, and in my opinion, are at risk of breakage in normal use. The water container is particularly susceptible to cracking because of the brittle plastic used.

This is my third Jura machine and the most disappointing. The previous two machines were solidly made and easier to use, but both failed and required repair, one under warranty and one not. There are other brands of automatic coffee machines available, which can do at least as much as this machine and are half the cost. Whichever machine you buy, I suggest that you check the operational requirements and the associated costs, and test the machine in the shop to ensure that it works as you expect.

tried with and without grounds container. Called customer service on hold for 15 minutes then I was hung up on. The machine is as rubbish as their customer service !

I am so disappointed with this machine. For a top end machine you would expect to get a few years of use out of it. Instead my new machine has been sent for repair twice. First time it was the electronics now the grinding mechanism. Jura service sucks. I took the faulty machine back to Harvey Norman where I purchased it, it sat there for nearly 2 weeks because Jura didn't send the postage label. I was told it will be another 4 weeks before I get the machine back. I regret buying this machine.

Very disappointed with my S8 machine - I purchased this Jura S8 machine in March 2022 to replace a J5 machine. Within 4 months of purchase I had to contact Jura customer service because the coffees were flat and barely lukewarm. The customer service technician sent me some documentation regarding how to fix milk blockages and that seemed to help… Read more

for a while however we have been experiencing the same problem on and off for the last 3 years. I make 4 milk based coffees per day and for the last 3 weeks not a single cup has been to the standard you would expect of an expensive machine despite my very best efforts to do all the required maintenance. Every single cup has been below lukewarm and very flat (no matter what milk based coffee I make). Jura customer service is now suggesting I replace the milk frother($150) and explained that this part "needs changing from time to time". So, this is an extra cost that certainly was not mentioned when I purchased the machine direct from Jura 3 years ago. This cost is in addition to the expensive maintenance products (filters, cleaning tablets, granules). Overall this machine makes great coffees when it works however I would not recommend it because the quality of the coffee produced by the machine is not consistent due to the constant blockage/cleaning issues and the time spent trying to resolve these issues. Sadly after using Jura coffee machines for many years, I will not be purchasing another Jura machine.

A little disappointed – Just received our new S8. There are some disappointing features compared to our old Z6. The face is shiny—no, not metal—plastic! Milk based drinks have to be made far to the right. Our old machine made all drinks from the center. Trying to modify the components of a drink is nearly impossible and it appears you can’t modify again a second time. It is apparently not possible to modify the location of your favorite drinks to a single screen. The water tank is no longer transparent so you can’t see when more water is needed.

The current short-commings are the for ever cleaning of the milk system. The added negative is the filter cartrage it request to be changed. I am using water from my Rainwater Tank which is filtered by a Siver and Carbon Filter System, so this makes the filter in the machine not needed.

The coffee consumtion is about 5 cups a day and after 6 Weeks it requires a change this meens I have to purchase about 9 Water Filters a year and at the current price of $20 that would add $180 a year to my coffe or about $0.10 per cup at the current rate.
