BE WARNED: STAY AWAY FROM JVC IN AUSTRALIA – BE WARNED: STAY AWAY FROM JVC IN AUSTRALIA. OH I wish I'd known what I was about to learn before puchasing this cheap soundbar from Amazon. I THOUGHT the JVC name meant quality, but in Australia it doesn't. As far as I can figure out, the JVC name has been sold-off in Australia and is now a front for shoddy products made in the worst factories in China. Apparently JVCTV.com.au is the sole Australian supplier for consumer range JVC-effect TVs, audio equipment etc.
On the bottom of the page is says in tiny print: "JVC is a trademark of JVC KENWOOD Corporation, headquartered in Yokohama, Japan. Yale Prima is the authorised JVC distributor in Australia for TV, computer monitors, tablets, and a select range of Home Audio."
Their website for support is so bad that Amazon doesn't even link to it. The support chat function is ignored, apparently they merely want to harvest you email address. The phone number displayed in multiple locations on the site goes straight to a voicemail message saying that "the extension is unavailable". The email address is almost certainly ignored. The page for downloading product manuals has no functionality apart from a box to type in the product number... and that's it. Nothing happens. No downloads, nothing.
I spoke to the car audio / camera side of JVC in Australia and it was revealed that they are another another company altogether and they couldn't help me. The guy admitted that JVCTV.com.au is "notorius" for their shoddy products and lack of support, and the REAL JVC office where he works is constantly getting calls from frustrated customers who have nowhere else to turn.
I cannot find an email for the worldwide head office, but I hope someone with some clout reads this and rips the business away from 'Yale Prima' (whatever criminal organisation that is) to restore JVC's good name.
Until that happens I am not going to purchase another JVC product again.
BE WARNED.
Avoid at all cost – For those who don’t know and as I have just found out jvc do not own their tv brand a company name Alla Prima does and a few thing they have done is 1 disabled any universal remotes from working on their tvs so effectively if your remote breaks you have to buy all replacements from them at elevated prices . 2 I was informed that the tv that I purchased according to Alla prima cam with the wrong remote and it shouldn’t work with my tv ( owned and used tv for 3 years ) and was informed by Alla Prima they don’t have a remote that will work with that tv . So in short rendering the tv usless im going to make every effort to return the tv as it is now deemed unfit for proper use . But failing that I’ll be taking a video of me using it as target practice .
