It's ok. Ordinary electric fan which looks generic. Made in China – This is my review for the Kambrook 30cm desk fan, Model KFA241, Arctic antique gunmetal finish. I've purchased this fan online from The Goodguys for $89. This desk fan needs to be assembled but that wasn't difficult for me to do. The Instruction Booklet was easy to follow for me. This desk fan has manual controls for the ON, Fan speed selection of 3 x speeds and a Swing button for oscillation On and Off, and this is what I wanted in such a fan.

This is for Australian power rating 230-240Volts ~50Hz, 40 Watt. The outer packaging information reads "Only the best pass our test". "Tested for 2200 continuous hours".

The label underneath the motor head reads "Engineered in Australia by Kambrook". "Made in China to our exact specifications" and this is where I find such statements suspect. There's so many other brands with this very similar looking generic fan design available globally ( sometimes also referred to as a bench fan, only the flat round base varies and the colour or finish ). For example Kmart Anko 30cm Black metal Bench fan appears in almost identical design except that the round flat base seems different. Goldair also has a very similar 30cm desk fan where the round base seems different. There's also other brands with almost identical design and this raises questions for me. Is this a generic desk fan that Kambrook put their label on and had some variations of specifications done by the manufacturer and Kambrook ?

While in operation, to some even the low speed might sound a little loud but that sounded ok to me. On the second and third speed setting or high speeds this fan jerks slightly while oscillating although it's not an issue for me. The fan speed sound might be a little too loud for some. I wish that the low speed setting was much lower though. ( I hope that someday a manufacturer engineers a fan to include a very slow, quiet speed setting which simulates a very gentle breeze like my much older desk fan did ). To some the low speed setting on this Kambrook fan might be too fast.

The Gunmetal finish might scratch easily so be careful with your screwdriver while assembling this fan. The fan blades are also a little suspect to me because they appear to be made of bare tin i.e. they're not painted. This can be an issue later on because tin can corrode. With an $89 price tag, I would've preferred that the fan blades were manufactured with a coat of paint at least.

Although this generic desk fan design has also been available by other brands of manufacturers the reason I chose this Kambrook fan is that Kambrook states their products are "Durability Tested" ... "every Kambrook product is still built to the toughest durability standards and performance levels".  But I don't know if this desk fan is of the highest quality or longevity and I'm also having some doubts because this design is also available by other manufacturers; to me, it really does appear to be a generic desk fan manufactured in China with some specifications or variations changed by Kambrook. After reading their above product claims from Kambrook, I hope this Kambrook desk fan remains safe and trouble free.

This fan is ok, for now, I don't know if it's going to be trouble free or have longevity. However, I do think that the price of $89 is far too high for what it is i.e. other brands eg. Kmart Australia is advertising a very similar generic Anko fan for a competitive $39. That's $50 more for this Kambrook generic fan which I think is hard to justify; it better be to Kambrook's "durability" and "performance" claims. Kambrook KFA241 fan – Good power for the size of fan, great bronze colour, neat little table top fan, liked everything about it except fan has now developed small oil leak from motor don't know why.

Purchased in at The Good Guys.

It’s a good fan for blowing air but it has a strong smell – Brought this fan a month ago, and whilst it blows a decent amount of air flow on the lowest setting, it has a really bad smell coming out of it, whether it’s the motor or a metal smell (I can’t really describe it). Regardless of the reason for this smell, I have chosen not to use it again and will throw it in the garbage and accept my $70.00 loss rather then trying to return it.

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $70.

Great while it works - but it does not work for very long – When the fan works - it's very powerful, and has a good breeze. However, I have replaced 3 (!) of these already, as they seem to last about 4-6months, then start to intermittently stop, and eventually fail completely. It's reasonable to expect maybe one unlucky failure, or perhaps two - but three in a row seems quite ridiculous. Absolutely not recommended.

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $45.

Solid reliable tabletop fan – The Kambrook KFA241GUN Arctic Antique Metal Desk Fan appealed to us because of its attractive bronze look. It further offered a good solid feel when handled. It cost about $20 more than similar products, but seemed to be worth it. We've been very happy with its performance, especially the volume of air it projects almost silently. Kambrook sometimes cop criticism for being "cheap and nasty", but this is a very solid, attractive product.
