I recently bought a Kambrook Swiftsteam handheld garment steamer. I followed the instructions, but the machine emits a loud humming noise and no steam. I checked the instructions and the water level is at max and the water tank is fully clicked in place. I've held the button down for a minute with only the humming noise and nothing changed. This is the first time I have used a hand held and I'm so disappointed. Any advice please?

I have the same problem. Very disappointing. No steam at all. Another useless piece of junk for land fill.

I had the same problem. The pump was working (loud humming/knocking noise) but unable to pump the water and turn it into steam. Within the water storage container I found 2 filters at either end of the small rubber hose. I removed the bell shaped filter from the end of the rubber hose which sits at the bottom of the water container and it now works well. As there is still a filter at the other end of the rubber hose I dont expect any downside from losing the bell shaped filter.

Can this be used on rayon ?

Hi Christine. I use mine on everything but if you want to try it at a bit of a distance at first to see how it goes. I actually think steaming might be a really good way to decrease rayon but obviously take care if it's a precious item.

Thankyou, we are full time travellers with our caravan so I thought this might be easier than trying to iron while travelling.

I’ve only used my swiftsteam max 10 times and now it hardly gives off any steam and therefore no heat on clothes. Any suggestions to rectify this?

How well will this work with blockout curtains? They’re brand new and so mainly for folding creases...

Poppy

I think it should be OK but probably depends on the type of material. Maybe send the manufacturer a message and see what their answer gives you. Sorry, I'm no expert in that arena and would hate to give you advice that ruins your curtains. Good luck with a positive result.

Hi. I loved the idea of a handheld steamer so I purchased it straight away. It worked once after initially filling it and plugging it in but never worked again (followed all the right steps). I then took it back and exchanged it yesterday and again not working straight out of the box. Tried multiple power points I know work, followed the steps. It seems like this is one of those gimmicks where it works a couple of times and then yiu just give up and put it in the cupboard. Am I missing something?

Hi Smoors, sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the handheld steamer. Mine still working well. If you followed the right steps every time with no luck, then the only option left is to return the steamer for a refund.

Hi, I just got one of these on the weekend and it doesn’t seem to be working. I have followed the instructions, filled water, plugged in, press down trigger but nothing happens. Any trouble shooting suggestions or should I return it?

Hi Ashleigh

Sorry to hear this. Mine worked straight away. I recommend you call where you bought it from as I believe they should replace it.

Good luck.

Hi Ashleigh,

What you did was the correct sequence of steps. However, the steamer only works in vertical position. If this was what you did, then it looks that you need to return it. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hello Ashleigh :) I went step by step when I was tying to use it for the first time & it failed, so I had to return it. If you think that you've done all the steps correctly & it still doesn't work, please return it as they really need to let the manufacturer know about the issues :)

Cheers :)

Can this steamer be used to clean fabric blinds?

Susan R
Susan R

Not sure about “cleaning” the blinds, but the steam might freshen them up a bit.

It would also depend on the type of blind, as a blockout fabric might not allow the steam to penetrate sufficiently.

What will happen if i go out and forget to unplug my swiftsteam ?

The Kambrook SwiftSteam KSS20 doesn’t have a safety power cut off. I recently left my steamer turned on and forgot about it for an hour. It still had a full water tank, but the steamer head was quite warm to touch so I’m not sure how it would go if left turned on for a longer period of time.

I am wanting to buy the Kambrook Swift Steam to take on a cruise as irons are not allowed for safety reasons. The power outlets on the ship are US and Europe, but I noticed a review from 2015 that said it wouldn’t work overseas, even with a conversion adaptor. I have used another brand of steamer in the past with no problems, but it is now leaking badly and I need a new one. Can you please advise whether there Is still a problem using the Kambrook Swift Steam overseas as I don’t want to get caught out and have no other way of pressing my clothes.

Hi Susan, the KSS20 can only be used in 230 or 240v power outlets. Thanks, the Kambrook Team

Thank you for responding. I decided to buy the Kambrook SwiftSteam KSS20 as I found I was able to use it on the cruise ship as they also had EU 220-230v outlets in the cabin and I had the appropriate plug adaptor to use with it, but out of curiosity I did try it with a US adaptor in the 110v outlet to see what result I would get, but of course the voltage was too low to allow any steaming at all.

I was very happy with the Kambrook SwiftSteam KSS20. The design of the steamer and trigger made it very easy to hold and use. The water tank was easy to remove and replace and it didn’t make the steamer heavy.

The capacity of the water tank is great and I found that I was able to use a continuos steam to do five or six consecutive items, including jeans, trousers, shirts and blouses before having to look at topping up the tank and it didn’t take very long to do all of those items either.

The steamer is designed to use in an upright position only, but I didn’t have a problem with that and I found I could drape the garments over the back of an upholstered chair that was in the cabin and I used it as an upright ironing board which worked really well as I was able to flatten the garments out easier than when they were hanging.

I also liked the way that you could have continuous steam by holding down the trigger without leaving water marks and it was very efficient at removing creases in all types of clothing.

The steamer is a bit more bulky to pack, but then again it isn’t designed to be a travel item and I’m very glad I bought the Kambrook SwiftSteam KSS20 and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it as a very efficient and easy to use garment steamer.

Hi Kezche,

Yes, just ensure that the steamer remains in an upright position.

Helli everyone,

I am a little worried about this leaving water marks from spills on light colored clothes. Can anyone confirm of this is the case?

Heather O

This product is only used in the upright position and only steam comes out of the nozzles. I have never had the problem of watermarks
