Lid is dreadful – So the first one we bought the lid would not open - at all. Company was very good and replaced it, but the second one had similar issues you really had to fiddle with the lid to open it. When it worked it worked really well, Loved the ability to select the temperature. Now out of warranty and just like that it stops working completely . Not worth… Read more

the money. There are other brands available that have temperature controls at a far better price, and lets face it, if a kettle is only going to last a couple of years we might as well buy a less expensive brand.

Just won't turn on – Kettle just refuses to switch on. It is only 2yr old and hardly used in that time. Given the price I paid for it it I am extremely disappointed. Better off with a cheap Kmart kettle.  Show details

Overall good experience – Bought in 2015. Got product recall in 2018, received the new unit and still working well until now. - downside is only the push button, feels a bit wobbly. - easy to see the water levels, they put the measure lines very clearly - average speed test - don’t touch the metal surface, it’s hot... just the plastic covered handles Show details

Inaccurate temperature control. Annoying interface. Poor build quality – Temperature can easily be +/- 10C out of reported temperature. Button broke off. Won't show current temperature when you place it back on the base, meaning you have to start to boil again to see the current temperature then stop it. Fine if you only ever boil to 100C, I guess. But don't rely on any of its useful features. Show details

Absolute Junk – Had it for 3 years lid wouldn't open properly had to hold button down while using other finger to lift lid. Just today the lid broke and the handle separated a little. Lucky I didn't scald myself. As I decided to put on Product Review I've just learned that there is a Product Recall on this kettle. Buyer Beware, save your money.

I like it but – I mainly purchased this kettle (from Good Guys Tempe) as I had a voucher that needed to be used instore. I hadn't purchased KitchenAid before so wasn't that sure about the brand. Things I love about it; - Great red colour and finish - the blue light temperature display - adjustable temperature which I was sceptical about but there is actually a… Read more

big difference between boiling to 90C or 100C - nice stainless steel inside - not too heavy - handle on side (not above lid) - cordless Things I haven't liked; - I am now on my 3rd kettle in 2 years - first one was sent back due to a recall - something about a faulty handle. - got sent another - had problems with the opening button on lid - still in warranty - sent me a new one

No problems so far although the open button is a little touchy. Probably only gets used once or twice a day. I must say the customer service when returning was always good. But I don't know if I would purchase KitchenAid again due to inconsistent quality.

Very noisy when boiling water and lid difficult to open – I received a replacement kettle due to recall but the replacement is extremely noisy when boiling water. The lid is difficult to open which results in me filling via spout. I expected better from a KitchenAid product. Show details

Terrible – The lid doesn’t open and now the whole top of the handle has come away so cannot be used. Purchased from Myer in Penrith NSW. This product was not cheap for a kettle so I expected it to be amazing. Sadly I’m extremely disappointed. The water boils great and tastes fine, the kettle looks great.  Show details

2nd Time Awful Quality, Stay Away At All Costs!!! – I bought this item a few years ago and after a few months the lid would not open. Having returned it to Myer (who tried to make it seem that this was normal wear and tear), Kettle #2 developed the same problem after a number of months. Having called up KitchenAid I discovered that there was a recall, so I received another kettle. Guess what? Not… Read more

even a fortnight has passed, and Kettle #3 is already not opening. Such an expensive kettle with such defects, it is simply unbelievable. Don't buy this at any cost.

FINGERS CROSSED - 4TH TIME – Received as a gift and highly delighted as my Daughter has the beautiul Kitchen Aid Mixer. Our delight lasted 10 months, when Kettle Number 1 would not turn off by itself, just continued to boil. We returned it and was given another. Kettle Number 2 after about 1 week, the Lid would not open by pressing the button, so had to fill through the… Read more

spout, which was so annoying, we perservered hoping it would right itself with no luck. Along came Kettle Number 3 and after 1 night only, would not even turn on, had no power to unit at all, and then brown water leaked out the bottom onto the bench????? Now on Number 4 as i really do love the look of it, and want for it to work - Fingers crossed, but as for the KA Toaster we were going to get to match it - well .... no thanks, will forget that.

poor quality – Bought one of these kettles about 7/8 months ago. We purchased it because of the preconceived quality of the brand, definitely not because of the price which was at the higher end of all, if not the most expensive in the shop. Had it a short while and the handle began to fall off because the 3 screws holding it on were TOO short. A simple quality… Read more

control would have eliminated any problems for a lot of customers. Took it back to The Good Guys and was told that they had been recalled because of this fault and gave us a number to call to arrange a replacement. The guy we talked to was in the UK, we are in Australia. Odd that Aus can't handle this problem ? He said a replacement would be sent in up to 10 days. Going in to its third week we received the kettle. This one is also of poor quality in that the lid is hard to open unless you press the button with a backward motion and then it won't open all the time. Also, the lid is ill fitting and steam collects on the top of it when boiling. When will the manufacturers realise that if you want a premium price you MUST give a quality product not a Chinese load of rubbish. I presume those products made in the USA are of better quality.

We are now shopping for a replacement toaster which has given nearly 20 years service and guess what brand we will definitely not consider. Sorry Kitchen Aid your products are expensive and not good value for money. Not recommended.

Great kettle! – Have used this kettle for a while and very happy. Apparently Kitchenaid has sent out a recall on the faulty handle, but my kettle is not affected as it is part of more recent production and I believe Kitchenaid has fixed the design/manufacturing. Quite impressed that the Kettle has a temperature setting and a function to maintain the temperature (i.e. keep warm).  Show details

Another broken one - only 7 months old – Five months after purchase, it had two weird instances where it refused to turn on. Concerning but then started working again. Seven months after purchase the top of the handle and the lid break off. This is a huge issue safety wise, let alone terrible quality for a kettle that is nearly $200!!!  Show details

Terrible Terrible Terrible!!! – I bought this kettle 6.5 months ago. The handle pulled away from the body of the kettle plus the lid of the kettle detached. I went back to DJ for replacement or return. Do not buy this product! – As noted by other reviewers, the handle pulled away from the body of the kettle plus the lid of the kettle detached. This is obviously a significant design/manufacturing flaw. I bought this product under 6 months ago and have misplaced/lost the receipt so unfortunately I have no recourse to get it fixed. It now destined for the garbage bin... Buy this product at your own risk...  Show details

Another handle malfunction – As many others have experienced, the handle of the kettle came away at the top. The screws that anchored it in were clearly too short and the casings sheered through. We had also had this 6 months. It is extremely dangerous and I would never buy a KitchenAid kettle again, nor recommend one. We got a refund from GoodGuys and bought a different brand. If this had not happened I would have rated this kettle 4 or 5 stars.  Show details

Broken handle and lid – Loved my kettle till the handle broke off where the lid is attached to the Base of the kettle. Luckily for me i notice that the handle broke and I didn't spill boiling water on me. Not happy with customer care advising me to send it back and after inspection they will send me a replacement. Being in WA it's probably going to take 2 weeks to get a replacement. That means I will not have a kettle for a while. Very annoying.  Show details

Handle With Care – The KitchenAid Empire Red is very efficient. It boils water very fast. You can see the water level and is easy to clean. but be aware that the handle may break away from the top. This has happened to me, It was full of boiling water. The handle came away from the body spilling boiled water every where. (Its under warranty and will be replaced) My recommendation IS:- HANDLE WITH CARE  Show details ·  1

Dangerous and unsafe – Like a number of others who have posted here my wife narrowly escaped burns when the handle unexpectedly came off the kettle. This is obviously a common occurrence due to a design defect. This product should be the subject of an ACCC safety recall. Time to step up Kitchenaid and put consumer safety first!!!  Show details

dangerous, boils over – I purchased this very expensive kettle some months ago as I was assured that it was a premium product. I have read some of the reviews here but nobody seems to be having the problems that I have with this product. When the kettle I have is set to 100 degrees it will boil for anything up to 7 seconds after it has reached that temperature. This may… Read more

not sound too bad, but if you have the kettle more than half full, and certainly much less than the maximum line, then boiling water will simply gush out the spout and all over anybody standing nearby. That doesn't sound too premium to me, that's just dangerous.

Dangerous product – Purchased this expensive kettle late 2016 hoping to ensure that we had a quality product. Wrong! First the lid stopped opening and we had to fill the kettle via the spout. Then my husband narrowly escaped a burn tonight after the handle came off and the lid fell off simultaneously. Never again! Beware of this product! Appalling safety issue. YA 65101748  Show details

Handle detached from the kettle – I had a similar issue in relation to the handle coming away. I purchased the kettle new in March 2017 and it worked fine without issue until the handle parted ways with the body of the kettle without warning. Fortunately I avoided scalding myself. The handle has three plastic lugs which pass through the metal body and engage three metal screws… Read more

that pass through the lid hing and hold the three components together. The trouble is the screws are too short (10mm) and need to be at least 20mm to fully attach to the handle. As it is they barely engage the lugs which break off.

As I see it the problem is easily fixed and I'm disappointed to see others have experienced the same issue. This has the potential to cause a serious injury and should be the subject of a recall.

Why isn't this product recalled? – My kettle was bought in July 2016 and a few days ago, when my 16 year old went to make a cup of tea, the handle came off the top of the kettle emptying hot just boiled water on my child. Expensive but has not lasted long – We have been very pleased with this kettle and and had no issues until it failed without warning. Just wont boil. Being three or four times the cost of other good quality kettles we expected good quality and at least 4 years service. Its failed after about 2. Will not buy again.  Show details

Poor quality – We bought the kettle a couple of years ago and after about a year it would, on occasion, not reach the temperature settings we had dialled in and recently does not at all. We must have a lemon because our other Kitchenaid utensils work well. Just as well we have consumer protection laws here which override the 12 mth replacement offered by the maker. The most awesome toaster i have EVER owned – I work for an electrical retailer, so as a result, I have ALOT of gadgets in my home. I bought my toaster, along with the matching kettle... I love them both! I am so happy with them... I am even happy to let my kids use them as they are not hot to touch, and easy to use. Definitely recommend KitchenAid. Well worth spending the extra to get this level of quality...  Show details

The beeping is driving us crazy!!! – This kettle beeps a very high pitched beep when you place it on the base or turn it on, it then beeps again not once but THREE TIMES when it boils, and just in case you missed it, it beeps once more when you replace it on the base. With careful timing and a bit of luck I can get this down to only one beep. When I rang the customer "help" line I… Read more

was told that the beeps are there to stay and there is NOTHING I can do to turn them off. If I try to disconnect or remove the speaker myself, I will be voiding my warranty.

I probably wouldn't mind so much IF the beeping was mentioned in the product description on the website.
