Very disappointing – Purchased Anko Column Oil Heater for Winter 2023 and used for approx. 3 months. Have been using it for approx. 2 months this year in the evenings only and it has now "died". Electrician looked at it and said to throw it away and not to switch it on again as it could be dangerous. Kmart said it was now discontinued and as I could not find my… Read more

receipt they would not consider a refund. Asked if I could return it to store. Considering they would not compensate me for faulty product I informed them I would not be returning it and would toss it out in the next rubbish clearance. As Kmart are the only retailers who sell Anko branded products there is no possibility I could have purchased it anywhere else. After submitting my review I read some of the other reviews and it is now clear to me that the product was probably withdrawn from sale because it is obviously faulty and could pose a danger. As my Electrician said :Throw it away and do not turn it on again." Like other purchasers it tripped the power after being turned on. This happened a total of three times so it was obvious the heater was the cause. It should have been recalled as soon as people reported the problem. Usually, when products are recalled there is an immediate refund to purchsers. Kmart avoided this situation by not recalling an obviously faulty and potentially dangerous item.

Faulty product – I bought it from Kmart online last week. It doesn’t work at all, it doesn’t heat at all, even the indicator light is not showing and has bad odor. It’s a faulty product. Tried to return it but still awaiting for Kmart to get back to me. Show details

Hopeless heater – Bought 2 online they have a burning wire smell and you can only feel the heat if standing with in 20 cm of unit. 1 of them tripped power to my house first try. Will be contacting kmart Monday morning. Should have bought a well known brand from bunnings for just $30 more. Not happy. Show details

Perfect for bedrooms – I just wanted a quiet heater to warm my room at night when it gets super cold. This heater was perfect for that. As long as all doors are closed it will warm up the room all night. Highly recommend. Show details ·  1

Easy to use – I've used it for about 3 months now, it takes quite a while to heat up the room but it works just fine. Wanted to opt for convection heater because I heard that it heats up faster, but cost efficiency-wise, oil heater is better. But it's worth the price considering it has 11 fins. Would recommend this product. Show details

Absolute garbage – KMART should be ashamed to sell this product. The only use for this is landfill because it definitely doesn't heat. Upon returning it the clerk remarked how this is a regular occurrence and she often contemplates warning people before they buy these heaters !!! Show details

Dumbest Design EVER! – Do not waste your $80 on this item - if you sleep with a heater on, expect to be warm but cannot sleep. It heats up which is not the issue. The issue is the super bright, cannot be adjusted LED display, which A. brightens the entire room at night - I am sure a lot of people use the heater at night; B. it flashes once it reaches the desired… Read more

temperature - I mean, WHY??? It was set on a temperature for a reason wasn't it? and C. it provides 3 options which are indicated with 3 colours on the knob - and guess what? Now your room is brightened up with not only the white flashing light, but also 3 colours of your choice!

The only positive note I can think of is that you will no longer require a night light; but who needs a night light if you can't even fall asleep?

Clearly, product designs at Kmart have not heard of monochrome display.

Anyway, do not waste your money on this. $80 should buy you a much more user friendly heater.

Basic reliable heating – The heater works well and heats up fairly quickly. I was quite surprised! It is basic with just manual settings - so no timer or anything, but good for when you need a bit of heat next to the couch or to heat up a bed room before bed. Happy with it. Show details

Great heater, different heat settings, works well! – Great heater that heats room or 2 very well! has many different settings from low warmth to high and often (even on freezing cold days) doesnt have to be used past medium to get optimal heat throughtout room. The heat is not a harsh heat, which is important as we put it in our children's room. I am very impressed with this heater. Has an auto off… Read more

function when tipped over. Maintains consistant heat. We have had this heater for 2 years and have NOT noticed a dramatic change in electricity bill either.

Does the job – Ok for small rooms, good price for what it is, just manual settings so no coming on at a pre set time, putting it on low and draping a towel over it makes the towel nice and fluffy. Show details

Quiet Efficient Heating – Simple effective heating. I wanted a heater for my office that was quiet that would radiate a gentle heat. This one does just that. Yes, there is a click when the thermostat switches and it is not the prettiest piece of furniture but what do you get for the cheap price. I am only using it for a few months each year. It does what I bought it for. Show details

DANGER Do not buy – On connecting the heater to power for the first time it immediately blew the main fuse for our apartment. Must have been shipped without basic testing, since the new unit was not functional and shorted out straight out of the box. I guess you get what you pay for; going to look for a more expensive 11 fin heater now. Show details

Heats ok, expensive to run – I have one in each bedroom of my house and they have taken the chill out of the air quite well during winter. I did however receive a large power bill and was told by the power company these heaters cost 51c per hour to run. I guess you get what you pay for Show details

Housemates farts are warmer – Bought from Kmart Richmond in 3 days ago. After hours of use, my room was 1.8°c hotter than initially. Took a long time to get barely warm, pretty sure my housemates farts create more heat. this $59 bunnings one. Stay away from kmart heaters as they are all rubbish. Especially for an oil heater which has been around for 10's of years, to get this product wrong is embarrassing.

Completely unsatisfied – The heat was good when you were almost sitting on top of it in my small bedroom but even with the door closed I thought this product was a waste of money. It also used an excessive amount of electricity so is not a good product for the budget and/or energy conscious. I really tried to get heat out of this unit for two weeks but sadly, I had to return it. Show details

Barely gets warm! – Came here to after purchasing this oil heater unfortunately. I thought it was broken because it wouldn't get nearly as warm as other oil heaters I've had in the past. It's practically useless unless you live in a closet. Show details

Cheap, easy to use and durable – I am very happy with this purchase. This heater is very simple to use, made of good quality material. It has kept my living room warm during the winter. I use a socket timer which allows the heater to be automatically turned on and off on schedule each day. I programme it around 30 min before waking up.  Show details

4 fin oil heater. perfect for budget – I've got this 4 fin oil heater from Kmart and it is awesome. It makes sometimes clicking sound and it wakes me up during night time, but, it doesn't bother you that much. It works well with second room. It the room it big, that you'll need 11 fin. My room is relatively small, so it works perfectly. Lower electricity consumption is another attraction. Definitely recommend!  Show details

Nice and warm for small room but dont do any magic for large room – I recently purchased Kmart 11 fin heater which I was thinking will work magic. I did find my bedroom was a bit warm after 10 min or so. I also tried heating my living room but the warmth was not noticable. I am still looking out in market for good heater but dont want to return these as well. So it will work for small room and considering the price its okay.  Show details

Wierd smell + The instructions for putting wheels on are misleading – 1) After being on for half an hour, it has a strange smell...a bit like burning electrical components. Perhaps this will go away but the way companies are these days, you never know what you're breathing in. 2) Misleading instructions re wheels: they say the second wheel-plate is fixed "under the metal control chamber". Moreover, there are two… Read more

small holes in that chamber that match up with the wheel-plate. I spent 5 minutes trying to work out how to attach it.

But the instructions are completely false: luckily the photo on the BOX shows the wheel-plate ACTUALLY goes under the last fin NEXT to the control chamber - in a similar way to the other wheel-plate.

The manufacturer is too cheap to provide a second diagram to make this obvious.

Also, the photo in the instructions looks like the wheels could well go under the 'control chamber'.
