Camera Quality

You get what you pay for – I purchased it in February 2022 and soon discovered the camera quality was ordinary at best. You can't adjust the notification volume just choose a tone that's quieter than the others. For the price it had NFC which cheaper big brand phones don't offer but no facial recognition to unlock. In early August 2022 it died one evening just sitting on… Read more

the coffee table. It was almost a full battery charge. Kogan took a few days but organised free postage for the phone to be assessed and a week later sent a replacement new phone in the post under warranty. It's still in the box. I can live without NFC on my Samsung A50. I will keep the Agora as a spare. Reading about too many failures online about this make and model and I won't risk it as my main everyday phone again.

worst phone to get – I bought a Kogan agora go last year in July and it was fine at first but over time I started to deteriorate and now it's laggy and unresponsive at times and it automatically turns on the talkback feature and its a lot of work to turn it off, it doesn't show that someone is ringing me it just goes silent and the camera quality is horrible I can… Read more

Unbelievable for the price! – I was not experienced in ifones before and only had an old Nokia that never even took pics at the time I purchased this ifone. Well of course I was confused at the beginning about using it and did curse it a few times I admit, but after learning from a friend who had a Samsung fone, I soon got the hang of it. I got it on a promotion for only $199… Read more ·  1

which was $100 off regular. My friend is very envious of me now cause he paid over $600 for his lol. He said this Kogan fone does everything that his fone does and why it is so cheap? Well I am now into my 4th year almost and still it works perfect. I did however notice the battery not last as long now, but that might be because I over charged it a few times. But still... using it as gps it will last 8+ hours, or standby a few days, so I am not too disappointed. Overall I am happy as Larry and will buy the same kogan brand next time also. That is if ever this wears out lol. Thanks Kogan for a great phone. Oh BTW... not sure if its true, but think I read somewhere about this Kogan is really a Benq. No matter... I still love it.

September 2nd 2018 Update: Great fone for the price

Bought this fone about 4 years ago and still using it. Was $208 (disc from 299) and for the price it does what my mates $900 fone does. Got no complaints except taking pics on a sunny day is a challange, so I just turn it to the view finder and do it that way, Very happy with it still and guess I will keep using it till it crashes. No sign of that happening at the minute. The only other downer is the battery now has lost about 20% capacity.

Pros and cons – The agora is a great phone and you can't beat the price. However there was only one case option (an annoying flip one) and sure enough when I dropped the phone case was open and it smashed. There was nowhere that could fix the screen because it is an obscure model. Soon enough the phone stopped functioning. I'll pay more to get the common brands now as you have more case selections and easier to get fixed.  Show details ·  1

Issues transferring with 128g micro sim – I’ve had this phone for 6 months, and the main issue is, and it may be just me but I cannot for the life of me get the phone to store anything on the 128g memory card, some random stuff (apps) make their way on there but nothing allows me to use it as a storage option, in fact when you try the transfer process it only seems to try move files from… Read more

the micro sim onto the phone sim. Also yes the micro card is being picked up by the phone. I’m at the end of my wits, due to lack of storage space I can barely have any apps let alone take many pictures (picture quality is poor). Also the predictive text craps. It was cheap but now its time to spend a bit of money and get something a little more intuitive. Happy to be told I’m dud and shown how to use the micro sim as the main storage option.

Can't get broken screen fixed terrible customer service – I won't be buying anything from Kogan again solely based on how difficult it is to get anything fixed or refunded or basically their whole customer service policies. worker, such as taking photos of the wrong sized product sending messages back and forth then finally paying to send the product back to kogan before getting my "refund", which didn't include postage for either way. The way that Kogan interact with their customers, or at least me is inconvenient to say the least. The process of getting anything fixed, such as broken screens or refunds or replacement, is far too complicated. My local phone repairer can't fix my kogan phone because it is so difficult to get the parts. I should be able to get the screen fixed in an hour or two but if I want to get my phone fixed I have to go through Kogans list, which could take I don't know how long.

Kogan products aren't bad. They are even good, but if they break or become faulty or you order the wrong size the process you have to go through to resolve your problem is long and frustrating with very few options, so even after getting what Kogan called a resolution I was unsatisfied.

If Kogan fixed their customer service and policies I am sure they would keep a lot more customers like me, but as it stands I am sure they have a lot more frustrated customers like me.

Faulty clock and speakers – From a few weeks in I noticed I was missing my alarm and couldn't figure out why until I happened to notice the clock stop for 20 odd minutes before resetting itself, way past the set alarm. have me jumps hoops for 3 months asking for photo's of my phone (as if thats going to show a stopped click or malfunctioning speaker).

Then they told me these weren't covered under the warranty and thst it would cost me $125 + any parts and postage, and they would have to keep the phone for at least 2 weeks.

Just love a warranty that runs out within a month.

Phone is ok for the price but after sales service is geared to have you give up and buy another phone as I have done.

Defaults to 2G on second sim. Useless if using a 3G Telstra sim – I bought a Kogan Agora 6 4g LTE in June 2016 for the express reason of using my Telstra 3g sim as a second phone. Holy crap, not worth it! – These are the problems I have with mine, don't know if they're universal but it's a good warning. screwed if you accidently let this thing's battery die then try to plug it back in, blue screen flashes every few seconds and can't be turned on to see if it is actually charging. Have to connect to a computer to charge it to the point to turn it on to then charge normally.

Features: Blinking light you can't turn off, small but REALLY freaking annoying. Charger disconnect noise that you can't turn off (and this phone hates chargers so sometimes it just goes off randomly)

Overheating: Several times mine has gotten extremely hot for no apparent reasoning.

TL;DR Save up for a better phone, 100% not worth the trouble.

Short battery life – II find that I need to charge the phone every day. It is a pity that the battery life is so short, it spoils the phone virtually completely. Manager contacted me said he had reviewed and was happy to refund me $18 if I paid postage and then I could buy new ones. Seriously??? Why bother. Also thanks to the cheap ridiculous wrong case my screen cracked and yes u Can't get it repaired! Also u can't buy any other phone case that fits it. Do NOT BUY - Cracked screen - No Spare Parts – Took delivery of the phone in Sept 2016, I thought it was a great purchase, it might not run like an Iphone but hey, it only cost $179 and I thought it was great value for what I needed- websites, email, sms, whats app, a few games and family photos/videos. it and the screen cracked. I rang Kogan to see how I could get it repaired and they requested I send them a photo of the screen and they would advise me from there. I send the photo and I get an email back saying it is not covered by warranty (I never asked it be covered by warranty, I just asked how to get it fixed!), they went onto to say, that I can send it to them and they will assess whether it can be fixed "for a Fee"(amount not disclosed) and if it can be Fixed they will then provide me a quote! So lets get this straight I send it to them, they will charge me to look at it and then give me a quote if they can fix it. Hahaha, what a joke! This being the case I went to two local phone repair shops in Sydney both of whom told me they cannot get parts for Kogan phones and therefore cannot repair it, they advised me to go back to Kogan - Go Figure!! Never thought this would be an issue when I bought it, otherwise I would have spent a but more and bought a phone I can easily have repaired.

OK but terrible battery life – I've been using this phone for around a month now, so I think I've got a handle on its pros and cons. It's a very good phone for the price. the device.

The killer is the battery.

Battery life is absolutely terrible. When I complained to Kogan about this, their best advice was to turn off pretty much every feature that makes this a smart phone. Apparently I need to turn off the WiFi when I leave the house, turn on the bluetooth while I'm in my car. Turn off the bluetooth when I get to my destination. Turn on the GPS because I need to take a georeferenced photograph. Tune the GPS off again. Turn the bluetooth back on because I get back in my car. Turn GPS on because I need directions. Turn it off again when I get to my destination, turn WiFi on to use a free connection, turn it off again when I leave to go home. Turn the bluetooth back on for the journey home, turn it off when I get home and turn the WiFi back on to use my home network.

I have an iPhone5S for work. All connectivity is turned on all the time and I actually make calls etc and still have battery life left a plenty (usually for another 24 hours).

I like the Kogan phone a lot. It's a good phone, but the battery life is a complete killer. Why would you buy a mobile device and then have to plug it in everywhere you go?

Edit May 2017. So after six months with this phone, I'm downgrading my rating. I've pretty much relegated it to using it as an ebook reader as the battery will not hold charge long enough to get through a day - even on standby. If I dare to make a call or do anything else, like use an app, it won't get more than 5 or 6 hours.

If you're looking for a cheap phone, don't buy one of these unless you are happy to keep it plugged in.
