im not 100% sure yet – I have had this coffee maker in a cupboard for around 5 years now my capsule machine died then I remembered this machine it has the excellent Krups name on it but upon cleaning it up I noticed it is made in China (BUMMER) anyway it cleaned up perfectly and it is making an excellent double shot flat white threequarters full (VITTORIA COFFEE… Read more
BEANS MEDIUM?FINE GRIND GOLD PACKET) and also my wife believes her frothed milk coffee is
is also terrific so far so good lets try it for longevity cheers purchased new BingLee 6 to 7 years ago
Lasted the distance, great machine – I owned my machine for over 10 years, but sadly it has died. It has produced on average one cup per day. I have only had one issue with the seal 3 years ago which I replaced. It produced a great cup every time with little fuss. I thought the build quality was good and robust. Trying to find another to replace it.
Not a bad machine, easy to use but the frother is awful – Got this machine as a gift to add to my collection (I own 3 other machines- Gaggia, Delonghi & a Nespresso). I seriously enjoy drinking coffee; this machine however is a little odd. Looks-wise, it's a cute, compact machine with stainless steel accents. Looks great sitting on the kitchen bench! Coffee: overall, it makes a good espresso (this… Read more
also depends on the beans used, etc etc) nice crema too.
Milk frother: ok this is a bit of a let down. I was excited it came with two frothing attachments- a manual nozzle & a semi automatic. The semi automatic nozzle is utter rubbish, unless you love Luke warm milk with a millimetre of foam ugh!
The manual nozzle had some real potential; produces a thick foam but man, ITS LOUD! I'm afraid I'll soon get a knock at my door by an angry neighbour at 6am telling me to keep the noise down...apart from the noise, it makes a good coffee.
loved it – ours just died after 5 great years- the milk steam/frother was no good but we didn't care (we just microwave the milk first). The coffee that it makes was better than most we buy!!! Our visitors always say how great our coffee is. am thinking about buying another-same model, coffee was that good. coffee milk issues
Krups is [censored word removed] !! – I totally agree with the majority of the reviews. I bought it because of the Krups name, but very disappointed. It is completely unreliable and should not be allowed to be sold. The machine also came with a "free" coffee grinder. It was no wonder they had to give these away. The thing broke down after about 4 months, and then I did the only decent thing and binned it ! It's an unreliable poorly made
OK – Great while it lasted and disapointed when it broke down. Also, disapointed to fingd out it was Chinese and not German. Makes very good coffee. Has worked perfectlty for 5 years but recently started to spray water out of the brewing head. I thought it must be the seal and so ordered one. No change - water everywhere. Will have to buy a new one.… Read more
Having read other reviews, and now realising it was made in China, I wouldn't buy another but, compared to other people, I seem to have had a reliable machine.
Terrible – We bought a Krups coffee maker. Broke after 13 months - the "distributor". 4 months to get fixed as Krups kept sending the wrong part to the repairer. Finally Krups gave us a new machine. Has now broken down after 14 months - distributor again. Will never buy Krups again. Good coffee. breaks down
Terrible – DO NOT, repeat DO NOT buy one of these machines. Cheap Chinese junk that should not be sold in respectable stores. My final 3 words : Crap, Crap and more Crap. Right size for a caravan and looked good Original machine broke down after 6 months and was replaced. Second machine worked for 18 months but then went the same way as the first. Leaked everywhere, noisy, bad vibration and splattered.
Good – Had mine for 3 years and seals around the group head have just given up the ghost. I'm amazed that there are lots of bad reviews, as I've had no real trouble with this machine (esp compared to some others I've had). But best of all, produces a really good coffee. Good crema. Programmable amounts for both single and double. I'm trying to find… Read more
a new one of this model (but don't think they make them anymore ? ) as I would gladly buy a new one again. Have to see how I go with getting the seals replaced. Wish me luck ! very good coffee, considering the size and price of machine noisy, small drip tray and water tank
Bad – I think a cheaper machine would do the job just as well and have recommended that to friends. After having owned this one now, I realise that I only need a very basic cheap machine as I don't froth the milk. Looks good, coffee is creamy. Takes a while to make coffee. Seems noisy. Drip tray fills up fast. Water tank could be bigger. Leaks profusely… Read more
around the filter attachment after 6 months about to order a new seal see how that goes. Good luck undoing the screw holding the seal in place. The leaking seal wets the surrounding bench area. This machine should be supplied with multiple spare seals if this is the problem
Terrible – If there had been a zero dropped from the $400.00 price tag this would have been a reasonable price and there would be no complaints, I paid this crazy price thinking that it was a quality German product when it is poorly made in China. I have had no problems exchanging this piece of junk but unfortunately it is being replaced with another piece… Read more
of junk and when the warranty expires there will be no more replacements.
BADLY MADE IN CHINA
Has had serious leaks within 2 months of purchase in 2 replacement units.
Very slow to produce any coffee and very very slow with milk frothing.
Poor quality finish and build.
Terrible – That's it for Krups and me - I will never buy another of their products. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. The unit looks good, has a European name (but made in China, even the pump - be warned) and made two cups of decent espresso coffee in all the time I owned it. But the noise, vibration, scalding steam, the need to hold… Read more
the cups as coffee splatters into them etc is too much to get a cup of coffee. If low-end espresso machines are like this, then maybe they shouldn't be making low-end espresso machines. Krups certainly shouldn't. Grinder was good, though; I miss it. Design - it's a good looking unit. The price (alas, I soon discovered you get what you paid for). Came with a free burr grinder. Without doubt the noisiest espresso machine I've ever used. The vibration was incredible also, with shot glasses bouncing around. The coffee rarely came out in a stream, mostly it just splattered. Steam came from everywhere when using the frother. Look, maybe I just ended up with a lemon, but the sales assistant had a knowing look in his eye when I returned it to the store.
Bad – Only buy Krups if it is made in Europe, forget the cheap Chinese models, there seems to be no quality control. If you enjoy frothy milk look elsewhere. It does 2 shots at push of a button so the same measure every time and has hot water as well as steam. Spec wise had everything i wanted and the only model to do so at that price. I am currently on… Read more
my third machine as the first 2 broke down under warranty - the first one straight away and the second one after a month or 2, both with same problem: water coming out from everywhere it shouldn't. current one: tray impossible to remove without jamming a knife in the side but hey at least it works. i'm almost looking forward to this one breaking down as it is now out of warranty and i can justify buying a new (different brand) one.

Know better, choose better.
Terrible – Cannot froth milk, very noisy, the coffee grinder is good. Hate making coffee in this, even the old machines are better. Very time consuming machine to get it right. The steamer leaks. The grinder is good. Limited to 2 shot, making coffees for a group very time consuming, whole process is too slow. Coffee splatters everywhere.
Good – But had for awhile now and still churns the cuppas out. With great froth and it gets a heap of work. makes a lovely cuppa and no worries with the froth. Has a hiccup now and then but seems to reset with a little time.
Terrible – I would never buy this brand again, it looks good quality but it gave me endless problems, the store has now replaced it for a delonghi ec750i, hopefully goes better Coffee tasted good, liked the design. Had the tray replaced the first time after 3 mths because the drip tray cracked from the heat and found it to be a crooked tray that was always… Read more
tight to remove. tray got replaced and worked fine until another 3mths when the milk stopped emitting steam while frothing milk, since it stopped steam seemed to come from drip tray and hot water came out brewing head, took it back to store & they explained they no longer stocked the brand due to the problems, also previously had the fully automatic version which was also crapp.
Good – My opinion is that this is a lot of machine for the money. I don't really see the need for a more expensive machine anymore. I would rathe invest in a cofee grinder to develope the taste. the price it was cheaper than any other pump espresso in the shop. It makes nice espressos evrytime with thick and rich crema on top. The color of the crema… Read more
varies a bit but thats natural i think.
I'd love to buy a more expensive one buti'm a student so for the time this is what I could afford. It is a genuine pump espresso. It has worked flawless for me and I make alot of espressos. So maybe they have adressed the problems now the auto steamer function is crap and I was very disapointed for a while because i had been looking forward to a tasty capucino with milk froth on top. Then I started reading about frothing milk on the internett. And hope came back. I just took off the attatchment from the steam wand and put a chilled cup filled 1\3 with skimmedmilk pushed the steam button and hoped for the best. And to my suprise I was able to create perfect froth evrytime. There is a learning curve on makin froth with a steamwand but it's very rewarding. you need to hold the cup such that the steam wand is just under the surface and lover it as the froth builds. When its in the richt position it will make a ch ch ch noise easy to recognice when you have learned.
Excellent – My opinion, it is OK, for the money paid as it also came with a grinder and it works very well also. I have had my Krup XP4050 for almost 5 Years or so I think and it has never given me any trouble at all until now but I'm still able to make a nice cupper. The only thing I think would be now that it seems to work OK on first run but on second run it seems spread the coffee a bit and not directly into the cup.
Terrible – So far not very happy, but maybe they willchange my mind with stunning after market service? Not likely given what I have read here and on the consumer affiars website in the US............ It was cheap at the time and seemed to have the features I wanted I bought it as a reconditioned unit but It broke after making 2 espressos, and since I… Read more
bought it via an auction house I have to get it back to Krups for repair - NOT happy with them or the auction house
