Rip off! – Bought a Steamup G4 from Myer in 2006. They talked me into getting an extended warranty. Dealing with extended warranty company was a nightmare. returned to me after second repair, I think the driver must have dropped it, base of station was totally cracked and hence back to Laurastar.
Some of the faults encountered: Pump stopped working, leaking water, teflon shoe continuously fell apart, on/off button jammed on more than one occassion, the last time this happened I put the iron away for good. Awkward to clean/flush. Over $1000.00 down the drain. With the money spent on this iron I could have hired someone to do the ironing and saved myself a lot of stress. No offer of replacement iron whilst yours is in for repair.

My G4 has just suddenly stopped producing steam – There is no denying that these irons are brilliant when working but my g4 developed a problem early in the second year and was sent back for repair. discontinued the g4 model and you have to ask yourself why? If there is a faulty component on a car it would be re-called and the problem rectified free of charge. Clearly there were component issues with the g4 hence the discontinuation! Reviews of laurastar products are more bad than good and they are slowly losing face! Laurastar should do the right thing and rectify our irons purchased within the past three years as there has to be numerous consumers with laurastar irons in cupboards which no longer work and will cost a minimum of £50.00 just to have them looked at. Powerful iron and not too heavy expensive to buy and keeps developing faults
Disappointed – i have a Laura Star G4 and it keeps on beeping, even though it is full of water. Also when steam comes out its in massive droplets wetting the clothing. It only gets used approximately 10 minutes a day if that! Not happy, very expensive and not worth the price, especially when there are cheaper ones on the market that work and last a lot longer!

Annoying – No steam, keeps beeping, very very frustrating. I will never buy or recommend this product ever again.. I wish I had read the reviews. Dozens of bad ones, only a couple of good ones. I would never have risked buying this product, if I had read the reviews of it When it works, it's great Works intermittently every time we use it. The beeping drives us crazy

quality form such an expensive iron. I have just checked out reviews on irons and Tefal puts it all over Laura Star. I am thinking i need to give that a try and see if i get longer life out of it. I really can't see the point of spending $200 every 2 years or so to keep my Laura Star going. I guess we live and learn. Very unreliable and expensive – I have had this model for approximately 4 years. Seems all people have tended to have the same issue. Iron stopped steaming – I have a Steamup G4 which now only works for about 3/4 of a year, then it stops producing steam. I get it repaired for around $200.00 then it will work again for a while. Very disappointed in this iron – From day one water leaked from the container. My iron is not even a year old and the switch blew up when I turned it on. I only use it to iron for 10 minutes a day so it is not from overuse. Very expensive and doesn't live up to expectations. Cut ironing time when the iron was working. Container on tank leaked water.

because the showroom/service centre is about 15 mins from where I live. Secondly, Laurastar has always had a good reputation. Thirdly, I originally saw this product at one of the craft shows and I then decided to go to the showroom for another demo and a try. All I can say is that I absolutely love my iron even though its a bit temperamental at times! After about 11 months of use it didn't work, ie. wouldn't draw water etc. I took it back to the service centre and they fixed it free of charge as it was still within the 2 year warranty period - no questions asked. I had also chipped the black base which also got changed at no cost - I was thrilled. Back then, they also had a chrome ironing board which I purchased, and after a little while, that too wouldn't stay closed when you folded it up in order to put it away. Again, that too got swapped for a new one without much hesitation. Since then, I have had the usual issues such as after refilling the water, the machine wouldn't draw it in and that noise wouldn't stop. So, I foolled the machine by switching it off before it ran out of water and refilled it before it beeped to let me know it ran out of water. Doing it this way, I had less dramas with it not working and then having to wait until the machine cooled down and try switching it on again. I was about to take it to get serviced again as it stopped working for a good week until I drained the water again and gave it a good shake with clean water in the boiler. Low and behold, it started working. I didn't mind having it serviced, but its just that I can't be without it for too long! I have had a solid 6 years' use out of it and I can't comlain! Although its been frustrating when I really needed to iron something for a special occassion and it didn't work. But, all in all I can't recommend it enough as it definitely saves me time especially ironing hubby's work shirts and slacks etc. The staff so far have been great because I initially did 4-5 trips to Alphington to get the abovementioned issues sorted. Ok, its not cheap, I don't know what other steam irons are like these days because when I bought mine, there simply wasn't anything similar on the market.
