and while the Lavazza far outshines it in build quality, the coffee output is another story. Using Grinders Crema pods with the Caffitaly, I consistently enjoyed a café-quality flavour. In my opinion, Grinders pods are about as close as you can get to coffee shop standards in a capsule. Sadly, Grinders doesn’t produce compatible pods for the Lavazza system—and likely never will. Now I’m left with an excellent machine that may end up collecting dust… or worse, heading to the council tip.

More problems with the Desea machine – I need to descale my machine, but nothing is happening when I press the buttons except a short beep. No lights come on, the descaling process doesn’t start. This is my second Desea machine as the first one started leaking water. Show details

Very quick and easy to use – The coffee machine is very easy to use full automatic and quick. Be careful to put exactly the amount of milk otherwise you don't have a lot of frothing. Very good machine overall Show details

Excellent product – No doubt about the excellent quality of Lavazza Coffee Pods and now I have mastered the machine I have changed my opinion of it to excellent. Perfect coffee every time. Nothing but trouble – My Lavazza Desea has only been used a few times. The first time I made a latte I could not remove the glass mug, and phoned Lavazza who said they’d never come across this problem. After much struggle I removed it. magnet refuses to release. I have, after much trouble, removed the cup but the top part with the frothier and steamer is still attached to the magnet and nothing I do releases it. I am returning it and definitely don’t want another Lavazza Desea!

The best appliance in the kitchen! – You know how good this machine is when you pay a barista for their professional cup, and wish you were at home with the Desea. coffee. So the fact that this one creates my perfect cuppa, on top of being quiet and fuss free, is an absolute win.

Of course being a POD machine the consistancy is always there - but to me that's a good thing. The warm-up time is super fast, brew time around 30 seconds and the aroma perfect - as is the crema. Lavazza coffee is so good I rarely add milk as I do not want to dilute the taste. Cleaning up the machine is a breeze - by far the easiest machine to clean that I have ever owned. If I had to find a fault - and this is being REALLY picky - then the resume brew after you re-fill the water tank (the alarm will let you know its empty) will create a slightly larger than normal coffee. But gee, I feel kind of silly even mentioning it, because it is so minor but I guess it is there.

Other than that nit-picking, this machine looks the goods and I simply love it. My son bought the SMEG version but the Desea is both cheaper, smaller and I think better. Maybe it doesn't look quite as "retro" as the SMEG, but in my eyes its smaller footprint in the kitchen is preferable, and the 2-tone cabinet (we opted for the white on black version)

I think you simply cannot go wrong with this machine. I certainly have no regrets.

Incredible capsule machine – This capsule machine is so convenient and super easy to use for milk coffees like lattes. can go about making breakfast and the coffee comes out very hot. The pods are superior to others I’ve tried as they hold more grams of coffee and are stronger. My favourites are Passionale if I want a strong coffee or Qualita Oro for something a bit less intense. The only negative I can think of is it only comes with one cup. I bought a spare cup as I only have a two person household but if I needed to make more than two coffees it would a bit of a hassle.

Almost perfect – Great functionality but beware your limited to the type of pods you can use as there isn’t an alternative you can try. If I was to purchase another machine I would purchase an Nespresso type as you can use any make of pod a much better idea. Show details

Some like it hot! – A good machine but the coffee isn’t hot enough. I have to pre-heat the glass milk jug and my coffee cup. Even though I select the temperature increase button I have to turn the machine off whilst it is heating the milk, and before it dispenses the coffee, then re-start the machine in order to get hotter milk. The end result is a pleasant coffee with well frothed milk. Show details
