Leaking coffee problems after 12 good months
After 12 months of use with no problems, water and leaking coffee started to appear, dripping from somewhere in large quantities from underneath. I discovered after thoroughly cleaning it that the bottom plastic panel had buckled and was leaking profusely…

Capsules not dropping into slot
We've had this machine since about Sept 2019 and my husband would make about 3 cups a week on average.
Recently he had trouble getting a pod to click into place and we even tried to do this manually but it either drops through to the tray or doesn't seem to pierce properly. The machine is now redundant and no doubt out of warranty. There's definitely a fault but for the price we paid for it, there's no point having it fixed. We have no idea how this happened/what the cause was. You'd be better spending more on a better quality machine from the start

Excellent little machine
We've had this for a few weeks now and we've greatly appreciated it.
- it's very compact. It does not take up a lot of space on your bench and sits flat against a side wall. It looks good and does everything you need it to do.
- it's streamlined. It only has 2 buttons, and yet it doesn't need any more than this.
- it's clever and simple. You press either button (short or long shot) to turn it on, then press the button you want and it will start dispensing coffee automatically once it's warmed up.
- it turns off automatically after 9 minutes (or 30 minutes if you adjust the settings)
- the used pod container and drip tray are easy to clean.
- the water container is like a tall cup and is easy to refill.
- it's not expensive...

Upgraded from Cafiality System
Upgraded to this machine from my cafiality system due to wanting more variety with coffee pods.
- looks good
- small size (doesn’t take too much real estate from the bench
- easy to use
- very noisy (compared to the cafiality)
- needs just a few more mm space to fit a mug. Have to remove drip tray to fit the mug. ...

Cheap and does the job
Never fails to make my morning coffee. The quality of the machine is good, havent had any issues so far. I have my coffee black and need it fast in the morning so it was so convenient. I also use pods from woolworths for 45c and they taste the same to me.
Good, but there are better machines
I liked it until I found much better machines. I am not commenting on taste the taste depends of cartridge, it difficult to determine how machine affects the taste.
Here is what I found is better in other machines:
In Nespresso there is container of the water which is good for a few cups. There is no warning when there is no enough water. Many times I tried to make a coffee only to find that there is no enough water. Some machine have no water container you have to put a cup of water for each coffee you prepare. I think it is much better sol...

Good quality product
I had this good coffee machine as a replacement from nespresso company because my previous coffee machine was insured and they took it for repair (I use to do videos, reviews for youtube). So they have provided me with this machine for around three weeks.
What I can say is this: very, very good quality coffee machine. It is capable of making a very good espresso. It is a basic machine but great quality for the price. If you like milky coffees this machine isn't for you. However if you like coffees like americano, espresso - yes! Go for this coffee machine.
Very easy to use and clean.

Breville Nespresso coffee pod machine (Essenza mini solo BEC 220)
Having a caravan we spend up to 4 months away in it over winter plus lots in between and were looking for a small compact coffee pod machine to take away with us!! This is perfect for our requirements, makes good coffee, simple to use and you can even get your pods sent to an address where you are travelling to if unsure if you can buy them whilst away! They take no time to be delivered either!! The pods come in a cardboard square tube so good to pack in your van and unit is easy to clean, and store away for travelling! When we return home it l...ooks great in our new modern kitchen as well!! It does take a while to get your coffee preferences worked out though! You receive a choice of pods with your machine to try then go from there...to use a full height coffee cup just remove the drip tray otherwise the smaller double skinned coffee cups fit perfectly! Also you can contact the company any time if you have any queries, very friendly and helpful!!

Excellent machine, can't live without coffee!
Nespresso make quality machines. This is the second Nespresso machine I have purchased and it is a pleasure to use. Coffee is delicious and takes very minimal time to make. It is important to keep up with regular de-scaling and cleaning, but no other problems!

Minimal bench space, decent coffee, good milk frother
100 free Nespresso pods plus an Aerocinno (auto milk heater & frother) tipped me over and I succumbed to the Nespresso coffee lure after holding out for 5 years with the Dolce Gusto. We’d loved the Dolce Gusto when we bought it (reviewed on this site), but were using it less and less as the pods we wanted were never available in the shops and I didn’t want to buy a whole lot online at one go.
After considering the 2 design options of the Essenza Mini, I chose the sleek angular Breville model in shiny black (to match the black Aerocinno) over ...the curvy DeLonghi model which was available in brights like red and lime green. The mini size takes up little bench space and punches above its weight to produce a decent coffee. The machine heats up quickly and has an auto-off. The water container and the used pod holder are both small BUT this IS a mini machine. There’s only 2 coffee size options, small or large but you can reset the machine to produce your desired amount of water. We haven’t as the factory settings suit our milk coffee drinking habits. Speaking of milk, the Aerocinno makes surprisingly good hot frothy milk to top your coffees. It can also froth cold milk for cold coffee drinks. Or it can just heat milk - we do not use the heat milk option as we just heat the milk in the microwave before popping the cup under the coffee maker to save having to hand wash the Aerocinno. We’re taste-testing our way through the 10 different types of Nespresso coffees and looking forward to exploring the rest of the Nespresso range, and the myriad Nespresso compatible pods available in the market. As my teen Dolce Gusto peach tea and mocha drinkers are now young adult coffee drinkers, the Essenza Mini can look forward to getting a hard workout! A plus for the Nespresso pods are that they aluminium and recyclable. A con is that Nespresso only offers coffees, no teas, chais or hot chocolate. They are also pricey at around the 80 cent mark, but there are cheaper alternatives.

Great little coffee machine
Very small machine that takes up minimal bench space. Perfect for a small apartment.
Quieter than other coffee machines requiring pods.
Came with a wide variety of pods to taste. The ones I have tasted were pretty good.

Great for that cup or two a day
Great little machine, it is simplistic yet solid. I use this on a daily basis for the odd cup or two, and have had no issues since i started using it.

Can’t use a normal cup
Disappointed ..i want to take it back after 1 day...a normal 250ml cup won’t fit..don’t waste your money...find another machine that can fit a normal cup with a built in frother...having a seperate frother is dumb and why have a frother for milk when the cup has to be tiny you won’t have any room left for froth let alone milk!...

Questions & Answers
What should the temperature be for black coffee from this machine?
My temperature is about 68 - 70°Celsius.
I find the coffee capsules too strong & leave a bitter taste in the mouth. Is there a capsule collection that is not expresso?
Lór make compatible capsules that aren’t as strong. I find the number 8 is great. You can get them from Woolworths, Coles and Aldi. They’re a lot cheaper than Nespresso capsules too.
One tip that I learned relatively recently is to only use the short shot. You may think it's better value or stronger or more or whatever to use the long shot, but if you run too much water through a ...coffee pod it does end up getting bitter. Use the short shot and top up the rest of the cup with hot water or milk. Or if you want a big mug full of coffee, run two shots into it. It makes it taste a lot better! We use https://www.urbanbrew.co for our pods and we love them. You can strengths 6, 8, 10 ,12, 14 and 16! We use strength 8, and we quite like it. So there are definitely options out there and stronger isn't always better. The Urban Brew pods are also biodegradable, which is great, and a lot cheaper than the Nespresso ones.
Our machine is only 5 months old and used once a day. The machine does not deliver enough water for a shot. The delivery of the shot is only about 2 seconds and then goes off. Is there something I can do or is the machine shot, haha.
It's possible that someone has accidentally reprogrammed the water volume. If you press and hold one of the buttons, it will dispense water for as long as you hold down the button and then will rememb...er that new setting. So if someone pressed down the button for 2 seconds, that would have done it. We had visitors do that a couple of times on our old machine. So to fix it, put a small measuring cup under the spout and hold down one of the buttons until you've measured out 30mL (recommended by pod suppliers) or 40mL (original machine setting). It's tempting to get MOAR COFFEE! by using a longer shot per pod, but it turns out that it can affect the taste if you run it through the pod for too long. It's better to use a smaller shot and then top up with hot water or hot milk, or run two shots.
