Lawson Wreckers are life savers. Here was the scene: 10 am on a Friday, break down with blown radiator in Blue Mountains on way back home to Central West. NRMA tow truck drops car at Lawson Servo where at Noon the mechanic had already finished for the week. Wasn’t answering his phone. Learn later that is his usual Friday drill. Rang about 10 mechanics who couldn’t do the job until Monday the earliest, or “another two weeks”. Just think about the accommodation, public transport home then later return, involved in such an option. Two were about to call it quits for the week. Even the radiator specialist wasn’t any help. Mobile mechanic has still not returned left message one week later!

On a Hwy between Sydney and Blue Mts/Central West with weekenders and business people returning home, you would think a mechanic would be tonguing for a breakdown like a vulture eyeing a dying animal. Nah! Not up here. Thought I was trapped in a TV show where backward Green Acres meets Petticoat Junction. Would have got more help if the break down was at Back-O-Bourke… or on the Moon. By the time I contacted Lawson Wreckers, it was after 3 pm. They came to the rescue – and a little after 4pm the car was on its way home. Lawson Wreckers were life savers, and the part - being 2nd hand - was dirt cheap. They tested it and gave tips on how to “break the new part in”. They even tightened the hand break for nix. Could not have been happier. A real eye opener as I never thought about wreckers as a place to have the vehicle fixed – but this business is trained for that. They are at 1/33 Flinders St – don’t confuse them with another auto recyclers further along the same street.
