Exploitation of a Solo MumI have always loved Lube Mobile and used them quite often in the past. As a solo mum of 4 kids it is a lot easier to have a mechanic come to me. Last week my airbag light was popping up, so I called Lube Mobile to ask if this was something they could diagnose or if I needed to head into a physical mechanic - Lube Mobile quoted me $99 to come and diagnose the issue which I agreed to. A lovely mechanic came out and identified the issue - being a mum of 4 kids has its downsides, and they had trashed underneath the drivers side seat causing the iss... Read moreue, nothing that a deep clean couldn't fix! Once I had cleaned the car the issue was resolved so I did not get back in touch with Lube Mobile. Unexpectedly today I had the same lovely mechanic show up at my front door, insisting on checking my car. I had not called or requested him there nor had we scheduled an appointment. I let him know my car was fine now, and all was running well - but he asked to check it anyway. I agreed apprehensively, but seeing as I have a security camera out the front I logged in to have a look and quickly realised he was going to try and charge me again. He came to the front door and requested $209 from me, to which I refused given that I had at no point been quoted this much, invoiced for this much, or agreed to pay this much. I feel exploited to be honest - because he knew I was a single mum, who lives alone, and as a woman presumes I know nothing about vehicles - so thought he could take advantage of me. I am very wise with my money (you have to be, solo parenting in this economy) and I would never agree to such an exorbitant cost for what was literally just someone telling me I needed to clean my car. Once I refused to pay the fee, the mechanic was unable to provide me with any evidence that I had actually been quoted this fee or that I agreed to pay it, and so he waived the fee for me quite rudely and left. Single mums might not always know everything about cars, and might be an easy target for some - but this kind of behaviour is disgusting. I have reported it to the ACCC and the motor ombudsman as well, and have the entire interaction filmed on my security camera as evidence as well.
Do not trustI was quoted $1390 to change 6 Spark Plugs, 3 Ignition Coil and Ignition Lead. It turns out after calling the other guys that it wasn't necessary and paid half of that! Who knows what would have happened if they started the job and then "found" other things needed to be fixed just to increase price.
Never again!!Extremely dissatisfied! Will never use again! My van has come back from lube mobile wrecked! They removed things that didn’t need to be touched along with replacing parts that I can only believe they broke, doing what? Or how? I don’t know? I had an excellent van for its age (1986) and complete original interior until lube Mobile got thier mitts on it
Not trustworthyexcessive charges- they charge you when not doing labour (sitting in their car) and are very slow
someone else commented on how slow they were to work
another mechanic confirmed the job should have taken much less time
left coolant stains and didn't tell me
I called during the job and discussed my concerns about the time they were spending sitting in their car and vaping in it and again after speaking to another mechanic. Both times this was dismissed
The Manager said he would try see what he could do but then never called me back
The issue with my care was fixed, which is why I have given a 2 star review and not 1 star review
Never againInvoice was misleading and excessive. Charged for something that was not replaced. Will never use them again.
Terrible customer serviceThey can’t fix anything. Unless you are rich and want to throw money away. Call Lobe mobile. Will not recommend this company for anyone.
Jordan was AMAZING!!!!Dad got a flat tyre and discovered that there was no jack or lug wrench in the car, the spare was flat & the lock nut couldn't be found (even if the tools were on board) so we called a few places and no-one was able to help - until Ashely answered the phone at Lubemobile. She was confident that they could help and booked us in, there were going to be delays which weren't ideal, Ashley said she'd see what she could do & popped us on hold , when she came back we were on standby the list. A short time later we got a call from Jordan and he was on ... Read morehis way to the rescue. Jordan was friendly and efficient and honestly took the stress of the situation completely away and he got Dad back on the road in record time - even repairing the leaky spare. We are so grateful to the team (especially Jordan) for the excellent service. Highly recommended - Gold Coast region.
Never Ever AgainNEVER EVER AGAIN! I needed new brake pads on my car. Booked in time and asked for quote up front before service. Never received quote but mechanic shows up anyway. I thought no big deal, let him go ahead with job. He places car on a trolly jack and then disappears for 90 minutes with car left on jack and no stands. Comes back and spends a total of 40 minutes putting on new brake pads. Chargers me 227 for labor which included time he disappeared for, parts and call out fee of 105, total 447 for two new brake pads. Called and asked for clarificat... It has been 3 weeks with no return call.
Good work, excessive and misleading billingThe mechanic Ben did a great job.
The billing and job estimate was misleading and in the end, excessive.
1. The 'minimum charge' in the quote email (which I believe is a fee if no job eventuates), was changed to a 'call-out' fee, and then added to the job.
2. Based on some Toyota advice, the job was estimated at 1.5 hours. The job was completed in 45m including a road test. Thus, I was billed for double the actual job time and then had the minimum charge estimate changed to a call-out fee and added to the bill. Not happy, sadly, will never use again.
NEVER AGAInNEVER AGAIN. !!!!!!!! Had them back 3 times and still same problem one star is generous
Paid $157 for nothingBooked for my peugeot 4007 injection and EGR cleaning for fixed price $215. The quote is good. A man came to look it and said it will cost about $1500 or more. Charged me $157 for coming and do nothing.
Daylight RobberyCar was making a rattling noise, a mechanic checked it out and said it was our timimg chain. Called around and no one wanted to touch it. Finally Lube Mechanic responded and said they could fix it however one of their mechanics had to come out and diagnose it. Lady over the phone said call out fee was $93-$98. As it was days away from christmas I said Yes (as i just wanted it sorted asap). Mechanic arrives and informs us its $93-$98 per 15mins. He proceeds to check the car (car is still running/driveable) 15mins later he agrees that its the tim... Read moreing chain and that the car needs to be towed to their workshop in meadowbrook as its too risky to drive. He calls the workshop and they quote is $6000 to get it fixed. I know nothing about cars and their costs but I was desperate to get this sorted so agreed. We had to make a $2000 deposit on the spot. Car was towed on the Thursday. Didnt hear anything from the mechanics on Friday so on Monday I called and they said the mechanic would call me. Monday afternoon Mechanic calls and says he heard the rattling but doesnt believe its the Timing Chain and that he will do his own investigation. Tuesday afternoon Mechanic calls me and says I need a whole new engine and quoted me $12,000. I could not afford that so I asked him to send me an invoice for the tow, callout and diagnosis/investigation as I would be looking elsewhere. To my surprise he basically charged me $2000 for it all. $2000 for a tow, callout and re-diagnosis! I called the workshop to send me a breakdown of the cost (the $2000 & the $12,000 for new engine) & not only did they charge me twice for towing but it was all very vague. I understand that Im paying for their time but THEY DID NOT FIX MY CAR/THE PROBLEM! I called and asked to speak to the manager however he and I could not agree on a solution and I was told he would do some further investigating and will get back to me. However I still havent received a call. Side note: They quoted me $12,000 for a new engine, however I went to Bridgestone select and Auto at Springfield (who btw were amazing!!) and paid $5000 for the same job! How is there a $7000 difference for the same job.
Safe adventure Thank You :)I needed my car check on before my learner driver daughter and I went for a road trip. I was booked in within the week, he checked my tyres and put air in them and change my oil and filter and turned of the annoying service light off, he check my brakes, he made the wipers and fluid work the windscreen looks new again. The mechanic explained everything else that I would need to get done before the next road trip with her, great service very affordable and very helpful. and my Daughter and I had a safe successful adventure.
