Lazaway Pools and Spas

Karma – Hi, We dealt with Lazaway Pools too which should have been called screw you around Pools!!! Lucky for us our pool was completed. This only happened due to us ringing their office and my husband sending them emails that he was turning up at office. Their service was disgusting once they received payments, they did not give a rat. I have been… Read more
told the owner and his family are a lot of [word removed].
I'm sorry for all the customers left without completion of their pools and I hope they chase the low life scum at Lazaway Pools with legal action.
Hopefully karma will come to them!
Poor service – Started our pool were there 3days straight dug it got plumbing dong and steel then poured concrete. Let dirt they dug up for 3 months never came back to remove, called 15 times now they have gone under pool not finished well done [name removed] and your team great stuff.
Karma!!! – Couldn't happen to a bigger 'jerk! Long memories about an extremely poor pool installation many years ago. Let's see what assistance SPASA (toothless tiger) offers to all the customers affected!! Have forever steered people away from contacting Lazaway pools when they were after quotes even telling potential customers at home show/s not to deal with them after they've left their stand.
Lazaway, no more – It's official, Lazaway have Gone under!!! (As of 3rd of January) I would be contacting your warranty insurance company to find out how you are are going to go about finishing your pools, sorry to tell you the bad news
Incomplete Pool and in the hands of lawyers! – Never have I dealt with a company who lack every possible ounce of customer service, respect and manners in my life! This company does nothing but lie and and has no hesitation in breaching contracts! From day 1 we had three separate staff members on site to discuss cost and design of our pool after offering a deal at the SPASA Pool and Spa… Read more
Show. They marked out the pool indicating where it would come out of the ground and that we would not be charged any hidden costs at all for raising out of the ground (this question was specifically asked numerous times). We signed the contract and from that moment it went down hill. The day the excavation started they immediately said we would be hit with thousands more for raising and boxing the pool at one end even though we had been told we wouldn't. When my husband told them to stop work until the situation was sorted, the site supervisor stated he hadn't driven 'two hours down the highway to have his expensive machinery sit on the road while we wait for the manager to answer his calls' he said he would continue the work and we could sort out the costs later! When we refused to allow them to begin work until the issue was resolved the site supervisor cracked it! He told me the three staff members who are the ONLY people you see and speak to to sign the contract and get the pricing sorted, had "no position in the company to say there would be no extra costs!" - This should have sent alarm bells off immediately as from this moment the customer service from everyone was disgusting! They phone and harass you ON THE DAY that the trades are on site demanding payment be made and receipt of payment emailed before the end of business day BEFORE the trades have even finished their work or they threaten to put you at the back of the queue!
Our pool began in April and our 60 day contract was breeched by a company who do not answer calls, refuse to return calls or respond to emails and breech a clause stating they have a legal responsibility to notify us of delays and when work will restart! Nothing has been done on our pool since August and they have majority of our money (all but $2000 which is our handover payment - more on this later).
They tried to say the delay was caused by us as we did our own pool fencing, but they didn't disclose the fact that they actually didn't get the steel and formwork stage inspected by the building inspector.
The inspector dealt directly with my husband who provided him with progress photographs that we had taken and that Lazaway were not following up on. This was the only way we could get progress. The site supervisor had to get a sign stat dec claiming they did the correct thing with our steel and framework of the concrete before the approval could be done and further work could continue... this didn't happen until July/August when our pool fencing was complete beginning of June!
Now we have to trust that his 'word' on the stat dec is enough that our pool is well supported!
After leaving numerous phone messages and emails and not getting any response, in November I drove 2 hours up the road and demanded to speak to the manager in person. He tried to brush me off and send me home saying he would email me later that day about when they would do more, but I refused to leave without a signed letter stating a guaranteed completion and handover date. I got this and the date given was 9th December 2016. When I phoned (again numerous times) to confirm trades to begin completion at the end of November I was met with the accounts lady stating that she knew nothing about the new completion date (funny since she was the one who arranged it with the manager in the office and I have proof of this)
She then went on to state that if we wanted to 'escalate our project' (how we were escalating the project when our contract was already over 5 months overdue, is beyond me!) we had to agree to sign a variation to agree to pay $1800 out of our handover money directly to the tradesman on the day or they wouldn't 'come out of their way to do our job".
After speaking to SPASA (the authority body that keeps these companies accountable) they advised me not to pay an single cent of the final handover payment until we were ready to jump in the pool. I spoke with the manager and stated just that, that they would not be getting another cent from us until the pool is complete and we had handover and if their trades were demanding upfront payment then it could come out of the money we had already paid them for that stage of the pool! He advised me he would look into another option and from that day in the first week of December, we have not heard a single thing! Here it is 28th December and the guaranteed completion of the 9th of December has been and gone and we couldn't give our kids their pool for Christmas! Not a phonecall or email at all!
I have contacted A Current Affair, Consumer Affairs and the issue is now in the hands of our lawyers as well! I refuse to let this company continue to get away with this to any other family! Our next step is private legal action, and VCAT like everyone else, as they just refuse to follow through on contract agreements or promises!
I have been belittled and taken for a ride!
Lazaway Pools and Spas have taken our money and left us with nothing but a concrete mess in our backyard!
Please do not fall for their charm or cheap price as it is all lies! They will try to hit you with variations left right and centre once you have signed on the dotted line. Our only downfall is knowing our legal rights and refusing to succumb to their threats! Because of this we have been treated appallingly! The fight has only just begun and we will not back down!
If anyone goes with this company make sure you get absolutely every conversion and promise in writing to back you up! Thankfully I have proof of every conversation I've had!
Lazaway, Your worse possible nightmare – Your worse nightmare come true. I didn`t realize such unethical companies still exist. Obviously the Pool Industry is unregulated if Lazaway can call themselves " the best swimming pool builders Melbourne wide:...still can't stop laughing. If you meet either [name removed] (General Manager), or [name removed] (the owner), you will never sign… Read more
with this company..i encourage you to meet them, not the sales people.
They quote the cheapest to suck you in, then hit you up with all variation orders.
They make threats and demand immediate payments even when you haven't seen the work done!!
They have been all over VCAT many times. Do yourself a favor and google "Lazaway Pools complaints".

Worst company I've ever come across ! – They mislead you when they quote you $50K for a pool when infact they know they're going to sting you another $15K on top. They are dishonest and they make you believe you're getting a great deal when you're not. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
Traumatic experience, good luck if you have any vairations – It all started off great with a good salesman and helpful ideas on what we required to be done. On the first day of excavation the excavator driver stopped about 20minutes in to advise us that even though he can scrape away the dirt, Lazaway will charge us for hitting rock as the dirt coming out was mixed with rock. I told him to keep going as I… Read more
had excavated the house and we didn't receive any extra charges for that from our builder. A week later I got a variation bill for $10k. When I questioned it, I was told that if I don't pay it, they won't finish the pool and would I want to look out of my window everyday at a pool that wasn't finished. I tried to negotiate the payment as I knew that they didn't have to use a hammer to break the rock nor did they pay any extra to dump the dirt. They straight out said that if I don't pay they will take it to VCAT. The very next day I received via express post notice that they were taking the matter to VCAT. We also decided to do our own coping tiles with wood. They knew this the whole time but concreted it ready for tiles, when I asked them to fix it they flat out refused, if I had left it the way it was, it would of caused the top line of tiles to crack. It wasn't until I threated to crack the tiles (by accident) on the first use of the pool and then take them to VCAT that they had it rectified. Their own employees know how bad the company is. The company turns on you the moment you don't pay their exuberant variations. In the end we paid the money so that we could get the pool completed. Do yourself a favor and Stayaway from Lazaway.
Contracted work not completed with excuse after excuse – Signed contract in January 2016, commenced February 2016. Titles and coopers completed ready for interior in May 2016. No completion date insight, my calls will not be taken or emails replied to by [name removed] General Manager. This is our second pool through Lazaway with very different service and outcomes and I'm horrified. VCAT HERE WE COME.
Horrible experience – Can you believe that Lazaway pool company dug out all the sewer pipes and didn't tell me about it? They just simply said it was not their responsibility to redirect the pipes. I found myself in an awkward situation, with all the area around the pool paved. I will need to ask a company to take out the pavers and reinstall new sewer pipes. Would you go for a company like that? Horrible horrible company!!!!
Appalling Business - Steer Well Clear – Our experience with Lazaway was an extremely negative one which would take an essay to cover off the issues. This company is hands down the worst ever, the absolute bottom of the barrel. They are not in the business of building pools - they are in the business of ripping people off. In short, we didn't get a completed pool out of them. What we did… Read more
get were significant delays, significant variations, poor workmanship, no regard and/or total ignorance around safety & compliance, no communication, totally non-existent project management skills, lies, excuses, empty promises and denial of all responsibility. Don’t be fooled by their appealing “fixed” contract price, you won’t actually get a pool for that. You will get a nightmare. Suggest you take very careful note of all the negative reviews about this company - they are there for a reason.
Lazaway Pools, Great price and excellent service highly recommend – WE SHOPPED AROUND FOR A CONCRETE POOL AND FOUND LAZAWAY POOLS TO BE EXCELLENT FROM START TO FINISH. The price was 3k cheaper then the next company, and help us through the whole process with no fuss. Regards Paul Glen Waverley
