ok entry level bike for sunny day riding – we bought a leitner milan cruiser in feburary 23 for my wife to commute to work. she is a teacher and started a new job requiring a 7km each way trip. the bike was ok for a couple of months and worked well. however we encountered problems requiring a replacement controller and display. After some downtime, including a stint in the bike shop, the bike is now working fine and seemingly as good as new.

We've learnt a couple of lessons from this experience and I'd share these comments: 1. We live in victoria, there is no local support. meaning, we had to try and fix it ourselves. Be prepared to get your hands dirty. This is ok for normal issues but we were encountering a troublesome problem so wasn't straight forward to repair. In the end, leitner support found a bike shop and they paid for the final repair. All turned out ok in the end but needless to say this has all been a big hassle that wouldnt have been experienced with local bike shop support from the beginning. We had two controllers replaced and one display replaced over a multi week period so a very frustrating period and obviously no bike to use. It needs to be said that overall leitners remote support has been excellent and they have been good to deal with. 2. Leitner advise not to use the bike in the rain. Leitner keep asking have we ridden in rain or has the bike been left outside in the rain, answer has always been no but its clear looking at the water protection on the bike and the line of their questioning that water is a major issue for these bikes. no electric bikes are water proof but it seems obvious the water resistance is low. The bike shop of their own accord, filled the controller area with silicon to enhance water resistance. This is going to make it more difficult to service should the controller have a fault in the future but at least we have more confidence the bike wont develop a fault.

We initially went for this bike as it is at the budget end of the market and we wanted to test if an ebike was going to work for my wifes commute. I would classify the leitner ebike as an entry level product and now that it is working reliably it is meeting our needs. I would suggest if you're looking for a commute bike to ride in all weather conditions then this bike is not suitable, however if you're looking for an entry level sunny day bike, then this bike will do the job.

An embedded part of my life in old age – Have now had my Milan cruiser for two years and this week completed a milestone marking up 10000 klms with the only repairs being 2 sets of tyres and brake pads.Given that I will be 80 years old next year with a bad knee I look forward to my 20 klm almost daily ride depending on weather conditions.I rely heavily on battery assist on hills and windy days and still after daily charges retains max power. Also have a fold up model that I take in our caravan.Highly recommended.

A drop of water could void your warranty – Decided to take my beloved 4 month old Milan Cruiser with me on a holiday. Drove through a rain shower on the way to my destination, it was not a huge storm by any means. Sadly, bike would not work on arrival. On calling Leitner for assistance, they inferred I had voided my warranty because of water possibly getting into some component. WOW. Basically, this implies that one can only really ride or tow one's Leitner bike on a sunny day, if one is to avoid possibly voiding the warranty. Even inadvertently cycling over a small puddle! This extreme water danger is not adequately explained online nor verbally by sales staff nor in the user manual in clear concise language on Page 1. Verging on misleading & deceptive conduct which is a Trade Practices Act breach.

Hi HighnDry, Thank you for purchasing a Leitner electric bike. We are sorry to hear that your bike had an issue after you transported it on the back of your car through the rain on your holiday. You have since contacted our customer service team regarding the issue. After emails and phone calls with you, we had sent off replacement parts and referred you to a local bike shop to repair the bike. It was repaired in a timely manner and Leitner covered the cost of the repair and spare parts as a gesture of goodwill. Although water damage is rare and most of our customers will never experience such an issue, exposing the bike to water increases the risk of damage, as is the case with any electronic product. Therefore, it is recommended not to ride the bike in the rain or wet conditions. This information can be found in our manual and FAQ page. We appreciate your time and patience in working through this with us. We hope you will continue to enjoy your bike. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly customer service team on 1300 856 725 or sales@leitner.com.au Thank you! Regards, The Leitner team

Great Bike – I have been riding a bike since I was 8 (now 78) I bought my Leitner Milan bike late 2021. I have had no trouble adapting to an electric bike, and have found the assistance that it gives me has taken all the pressure of my knees. I can not fault it, and can look forward to many more years of riding. My husband is now buying the Venice cruiser.

Love my Milan – Extremely comfortable bike to ride and I love using the throttle as well as the pedal assist. One small issue I have is that the battery only has two lights to check the battery life. I recently rode 64kms with friends and when the first light went out I was concerned I would not have enough battery to get me the full distance. Other ebikes on this trip had 6 indicator lights and a flashing light when battery was nearing exhaustion. The battery did make it to the end of the trip but it was an anxious ride for me. That said I would not swap my Milan for any other bike but will perhaps plan bit shorter rides.
