LG G2 (2013)

Great phone but shame it has major issues – Having had the first LG G2 phone replaced due to overheating and that affecting the image on the screen making it move and impossible to use. The replacement now has issues with its bluetooth connection and sometimes with its WiFi connection. Nice phone shame it does not seem to work. And neither got to 6 months without issues. Loved this phone soo much – Took off one star because it recently got wrecked. Loved the interface, the knock on feature, the price, the camera etc. Had quite a few problems towards the end of the fourth year of use. The keyboard stopped working and had to install a third party keyboard, the knock on function stopped working and needed to turn on the phone from the back and finally the phone stopped. Show details
I love it and buy again – I purchased my Lg G2 about 2 years ago, 2015. at the time LG G3 lunched for a few months. I did not have a good faith about LG products. I've heard they have a very good features but empty inside. Anyway, after some research I ve decided to buy it from dick smith. I was in love in a very first moment I got it in my hand. That was the best mobile… Read more
I ve ever had. very fast, pretty good camera and features to edit photos. vary easy to learn all stuff. tapping on screen twice to tun on. I will buy LG again.
I am in love with this phone – I am in love with this phone since the day I bought it. Its been more than 2 years and its performance is still superb due to which I didn't switched to its late version. I also bough this phone for my mom and she also liked it and using conveniently. Show details
Excellent choice if wanting to buy outright – I decided to buy a mobile outright so I could be on an unlimited prepaid plan (which works out so much cheaper in the long run than a plan) I researched a lot of phones that would deliver the most features for the cheapest price. I had to have full hd screen, excellent battery, great camera. It came down to lg g2 802 or samsung s4. I chose… Read more
lg as I could get a 32GB over a 16GB for the same price.
Researched all online sites and got it from Kogan on ebay when ebay had a sale on which was and still is the cheapest and best way I think and will definitely buy from Kogan via ebay again.
(I tried another site first but ended up cancelling and getting a refund as it was too dodgy)
The phone has been great and is a third of the price of an iPhone (which is what I originally wanted but couldnt justify the price)
The only thing im not impressed by is the lg desktop software to backup the phone. Also tge GPS isnt great but this can be overridden by turning on WiFi when navigating (as it then uses wifi signals to pinpint location instead of GPS)
Bad product. Even worse support – LG Customer support as bad as you might be able to imagine. I bought an LG G2 phone, which has had to be returned 3 times in 8 months - staring with a faulty GPS out of the box. I thought it was a good deal when I bought it - I was wrong. Garbage product with even worse support. The attitude of the customer support is poor, that is when you can… Read more
get through and you are lucky enough that they don't disconnect you. I even spoke with the head of their customer service dept - he could not have disappointed me more.
Life is too short to waste on LG. Simply, don't buy this phone if you actually want or need a working phone.
my LG G2 cracked screen – I dropped my LG G2 and there were 2 scratches which were hardly noticeable but I couldn't swipe it so was unable to unlock phone or use it. Cost me $200 to get a new screen. Now I can't take a call except with the speaker on. Had the phone for 6 mths so will check warranty
good value – I am on a plan with Optus and have had the phone for 3months. The good: - powerful quad core 2.3mHZ processor is very fast and runs the most demanding of apps. - nice clear HD 5.2" screen. - Infared remote control function. I can control TV, air con, kid's toys even LED lights! - battery life is good and phone lasts 2 days. - good value … Read more
The bad:
- reception is poor and I have only got 4G once in Wollongong. I would not recommend for regional locations as I can't even get 3g where I live- my old phone had much better reception.
- camera gives washed out photos on all but perfect conditions.
- battery can't be replaced
- Mira cast has too much lag to pay games on TV.
- no memory card support.
- quick view case that came with the phone doesn't work performance, screen size and clarity, battery life poor reception, can't upgrade memory
This is one of the best Android Phones out there – I bought mine on eBay from DWI HK for AUD$462 (32GB version) as I couldn't find a better price in Australia. I received my phone 2 days later. I was simply amazed by the performance of this phone. It took me couple of hours to set the thing up by removing bloatware and updating the software. Android 4.4.2 update is now available in Australia and I… Read more
had no problems with the upgrade. LG skin with fancy animations sits on top of Android 4.4.2. The quad core snap dragon processor has so much grunt, it can handle this without even breaking any sweat.
Connectivity wise, this phone has pretty much everything including wireless AC support. Bluetooth connectivity is solid. In built professional audio DAC is superb. Screen is absolutely beautiful although some might complain about its colour saturation. G2 has a top notch camera both in video and still modes. Some might complain about the location of the power switch and volume buttons. It took me a day or two to get used to it and now I don't think about it. All in all, LG G2 is one of the best phones you can buy without breaking the bank. Power, Camera, skin, connectivity options, screen, audio DAC, price plastic feel
LG G2 : Great phone, highly recommended – I purchased a 32gb LG G2 from JB Hi-fi outright for $520 after some negotiations (purchased late march 2014). After a month of ownership, I am happy to say that this has proven to be an excellent phone and I would recommend it to anyone. It is user friendly, reliable & has all the high tech bells and whistles. Design & build quality: The… Read more · 1
build quality & design is very good. The screen is large & vivid colour representation gives good visibility outside. I haven't fitted a screen protector and have found the screen surface to be very durable, combined with the quick window flip cover. The volume & power button on the rear is not ideal, but I've gotten used to it. I would prefer the sound control kept on the side like most phones. Not a big issue as once I had the sound levels set to my preferred level, I don't really use the volume buttons.
Phone calls & sound: The sound quality on ear is fantastic, very clear and good volume. The speaker phone use is good for around town and moderate speed on the freeway. But on the highway with higher road noise, the speaker volume is not loud enough to hold a conversation, but if you have Bluetooth to your cars system, this makes up for it. The speakers are fantastic for listening to music or videos. The supplied in-ear headphones have great sound clarity and block out external noise well - good bass & treble for most listening environments. The volume of the ringtones is loud enough for me, but I can imagine if you work in noisy environments, you might need to find the right ringtone to suit (or get a different phone with a loud ringer).
Camera: Great! Great autofocus control in photos & video. Very good rendition of images in day to day inside & outside usage. I've had very good photos in low light & high lighting situations - some common sense in camera position before taking a photo is needed and beneficial with any camera. Perfect for your family happy snaps when you don't have your super camera handy.
User experience: With LG providing the Google nexus phone, there is very good integration with Google services and apps. The pre-installed apps makes the phone very user friendly and there is a myriad of options for you to customise – very handy. I don't like to be a slave to notifications of emails, Facebook posts, etc. so I did spend a bit of time going through my applications to refine what information I want to sync or not to sync. I highly recommend you do this after a couple week of ownership of any phone. This seemed to have a marginal benefit to the battery life but great impact on user experience. If you like it all turned on and synced, yes this will draw the battery down. I note that this phone did not have any Telstra bloat ware on it, but there are a couple of LG apps that I don't need or use. The LG keyboard is also quite good. I used Swiftkey on my previous device, but found its not necessary any more as the LG keyboard has good prediction. I did turn off the auto correction as the results are not desirable, but I still use the suggested word options, which cuts down on keystrokes.
Battery life: has been excellent so far. Yes, with heavy usage over 3g/4g, the battery life will fall significantly over a day or two and require charging. On a full charge, checking the occasional email, webpage, Facebook and occasional video on YouTube, IView or SBS over the weekends and the phone easily lasts 3 days for me.
Performance: The LG G2 has handled every application I have tried so far, without delay or problems arising. The overall responsiveness in touch screen handling & application speed has been an excellent experience. The noticeable only waiting time, relates to my internet connection speed. Under 4G operation, browsing is fantastic.
GPS: I've used the GPS navigation (Google) a few times, and it picked up a signal quickly and the application was responsive, as most modern navigation applications or devices are. If you need to rely on navigation without 3g/4g coverage, you will need a separate application like Tom tom for android that uses offline maps. The draw on battery is higher, but expected.
Case: The phone package also included the quickview case which provides a viewing window without opening the flip cover. The quickview window is a handy feature that enables widget apps such as: time, message notifications, weather & a music player. Initially I thought this is a bit gimmicky but I have since found this quite useful. I have not had an 'accidental' drop test to review the protection that the quickview case provides, but for scratches in your bag or pocket, it's perfect. I'd say that if you are prone to drop your phone or your phone has a rough lifestyle to match you, spend the money on a case that protects against your level of carelessness.
Infrared control: The quick remote feature is excellent. I was able to configure my TV & Hi-Fi amplifier and separate stereo with minimal interaction. It works a treat. If you have never had, used or thought you needed infrared on your phone, the LG implements it very well and I have found it very beneficial for those moments when you can't find the main remote or you want a better single remote to control multiple devices. I already have a universal remote, but the phone goes with you everywhere, so I also configured it control the stereo at the office.
Other features:
Flash light: Very bright. On, off or intermittent, but doesn’t offer multiple levels of brightness
Near field communication (NFC) - I haven't had the need to use this
MiraCast: Mirror your device to a big screen - I haven't had the need to use this Great phone & smart device Sound control button on the rear
Never go on first impressions – Extremely responsive. Camera, screen all excellent. Great price........ These were my first impressions. However, the phone frequently freezes when performing heavy applications, hence the need to edit this review. For this reason down to 2 stars. I do not believe my handset is faulty (I could be wrong) but this phone has trouble handling apps my Galaxy s2 has no trouble with. Screen, camera, size Tends to freeze when playing heavy apps
a great improved mobile experience from motorols – Got it from harvey norman at $550 after gift card given. After a month research, i chose this over s4 active. 5.2 inch screen is big enough for me as a mobile. Ips screen gives very accurate colour, even better than my hp laptop. I choose this because of hd music and very good camera play hd music, wonderful camera with is, beautiful screen, thin… Read more
basel, bonus cover, headsets good sound quality, 2 day battery life for me, vienna boys ringtones awesome, remote control my av stuff no sd card slot, not decent external speakers, in call voice quality not as good as motorola (not many can)
A very smart phone – My old phone due for an upgrade and u won't believe how long I have been doing research for phones comparison. My first top choices were S4, HTC One, and Sony Xenia Z1. I know Samsung and HTC are very good but I was thinking the phone has been out for quite a long time do I believe new Model is better. Nearly bought Z1 I'm so glad I didn't.… Read more
The drop test shows the phone didn't get and scratches after the drop (wow that's amazing) however u can't turn it on anymore) I can't believe how fragile the phone is.
Then I went to Optus and notice the LG G2 and I started to find out more about this phone. The comment I read - well Google is partnering LG to produce the Nexus 5. proofed LG is doing a pretty good job otherwise how would Google work with them. And I did quite a few review this phone is actually a very nice phone.
U can turn ur phone on and off by double tap the screen, when it's 10pm it will set to quiet mode, screen lock is at the back I know some ppl think it's an awkward position. But honestly with the double tap function you will never use the botton anymore. It is so easy to use and I personally love it.
The thing I don't like probably is the keyboard. But honestly you can download another keyboard problem solved straight away.
So far I am very happy with this purchase I'm glad I made this right choice. Double tap function, battery life, overall performance LG keyboard
