Burnt once and never again – Lasted a couple of years then just stopped out of the blue one day, not happy as it should of lasted ten years. Will not be recommending this brand to anyone. I'll be looking into warranty once again, this is the second shoddy microwave I've bought ( Panasonic last time ) government should be looking into these shoddy appliances.  Show details

LASTED 21 DAYS OVER WARRANTY – IT WAS GREAT FOR 2 YEARS AND 21 DAYS! Then it stopped. Tested it several times. Took all suggestions. No Good. Warranty 2 years. Worked 2 years and 21 days. No chance of exception to the warranty rule. Buying new Non-LG microwave and buying extended warranty. I'm glad that I haven't bought their TV LG yet--was waiting for August sales. Now looking to other brands.  Show details

Crap product – Purchased this brand as previous brand stopped heating after 5 years. This LG product stopped heating after 3 years, 1 year out of warranty. Rang LG and asked if they would repair under warranty as a good will gesture. No sorry, can't do! It gets used on average for approximately 5 minutes a day as a heating item, is in perfect condition and just… Read more

stopped heating out of the blue. Have recently purchased a LG washing machine and hope it doesn't fail as quickly! I vow I will never purchase another LG product again, there is more brands out there and will shop around for longer next time. Very very disappointed!

Will never buy another LG appliance after this microwave – Have just thrown out this mw after only 14 months. It worked ok for a few days then died. To repair I was only given one option - drive to LG nominated repairer, a two hour return trip, then go back for it a week later. Very unimpressed, but did it. Over time I found it would regularly get very hot on all external walls, even though it was… Read more

in a well ventilated area, and then run at about 1% power or just not run at all. This even occurred if you were just reheating something for a few minutes, not for a long time. the inside would remain cool. The only solution was to power off, open the door and not use it at all for about 48 hours. Eventually even this didn't work so it was useless. Not worth my time to go through their repair process again so have given up on it.

In general terms: the panel is not as user friendly as Panasonic/Sharp. Also, when running it is very noisy. When finished running it gives very loud beeps (compared to other MWs) and then continues to do so until you open the door - very annoying.

Will need a new fridge shortly but will be avoiding all LG products.

Heats food like a microwave should – We have owned this microwave since new when we received it as a house warming gift it in November 2013. It is still working fine except for the eject button which has started to become stuck recently. We don't use our microwave much, mostly for microwave popcorn, wheat bags and rarely to heat food (we prefer to use the stove). We probably use it once every week at most so the fact that it's still working should be a given.

Had nothing but trouble with the same problem i bought 2 of these ovens 2 years ago and have had the – Well, the ovens have a faulty transformer and over heat causing major smoke and a inferior smell. The exterior of the oven also gets that hot it is impossible to touch and can cause skin burns to your hands, it does not matter how well ventilated the ovens are this is a major problem then another confusion with LG is when you call for help on the… Read more

item you are not talking the LG in Australia it is on another country then you get transferred back to another agent in Australia so i find that LG microwave ovens of this model are a complete failure. Never again will i buy LG Microwave ovens.

Just stopped working after 2 years and 4 months – I have had quite a number of family-sized microwaves over the years. The first was a Sharp that lasted 23 years. The second was a Sharp that lasted less then two so the I switched to LG - this model in fact. Purchased from Harvey Norman in 10 September 2012. I treat all my appliances with a lot of care. All are well ventilated as they sit on a… Read more

benchtop with no back wall and heaps of space either side. Very disappointing that it has stopped full stop tonight at 9.00pm. It heated a cup of water and then when I went to defrost a piece of cake, I had a few goes and then realised it was literally spinning its wheels. Re-tested with another mug of cold water. NOTHING! The light came on, the turntable went round and round but the magnetron clearly died. I have a 60 month warranty with Harvey Norman on this product. We'll see if they sort this out....Judging from the reviews proceeding, If Harvey Norman won't fix this under their extended warranty, LG's name is also mud with me. So apparently Panasonic is out, Sharp is out and probably LG for large family microwaves. Any other options left in the markat that are reliable?

Sweats & Too Hot – I used to own the older model which never missed a beat for 7 years. This one is concerning as it is extremely hot. I cook vegetables and reheat food in this every day and I now have to use an oven mit to remove containers from the microwave. There is far too much moisture which also concerns me and to top it off today it just stopped and smelt… Read more

like it had burnt out. It is only 8 months old. After reading all these comments I am dreading having to get on the phone to LG because they have an appalling record of warranty back up.

Can't be used in the majority of Australian Kitchens! – I had trouble with moisture inbetween the double glass door and also the clock area. I returned it to be repaired but they could not find the problem but they replaced the seals incase that was what was causing it. I bought it home but the problem was still occuring - I ended up talking to the repairman and he asked if I had it in a microwave… Read more

cabinet on the wall. I said yes, I had a standard microwave cabinet with a gap around the microwave and an open space at the top rear to allow air flow. He told me to read my instruction manual carefully - it states on page 4 'The microwave shall not be placed in a cabinet'.

After that shock I continued reading to see where they recommended to place it. They said 'On a flat, level surface with at LEAST 20cm of space on the top, rear and sides' - ' Blocking the outlets can damage your oven'.

Ok now here is the real problem - the microwave is 46cm deep and if you add the 20cm recommended that will give you a required bench depth of 66cm. Standard Australian floor units are only 600mm deep. The only place I can operate the microwave without voiding my warranty is either the dining table or the floor!

To add insult to injury on page 32 of their manual, under the heading of safety precautions they tell you to 'be certain to place the oven so the front of the door is 8cm or more behind the edge of the surface on which it is placed'. That now requires a bench depth of at least 74cm! I did actually like ovens features, size and appearance I could not use it in the microwave cabinet without it fogging up - and according to their manual I could not use it anywhere else in my kitchen either.

inside colour hard to clean – But with the 2 yr warranty it feels wiser to buy than a one year warranty. As long as they uphold the warranty and not say it broke down from wear n tear nd that is not covered. As that seems to be a clause, hopefully one can negotiate. The Good Guys shop said that most companies just give you a replacement if your microwave is broken and under… Read more

$250 AUD. Well my Sharp inverter microwave broke, began to make zappy noises and smoke and the warranty was only one month over the 1 yr so I was not wanting to go with Sharp. But Sharp as usually been great, lasting years. I fear the more complicated the microwave is maybe it does not last as long as the simple old styles, might be wrong. Shall give this fancy sensor heating option LG a go. Will write here again in a few years, hopefully with it still working!. I had to put a lamp next to it, even though the light comes on inside when you open the door. It is still harder to see splattered food bits because it is not white inside. The size is huge yet it is light. and small outside. The dome interior effect is great. Why they chose a dark grey colour for the interior is a mystery. Surely there is enough experience in microwave manufacturing to know white is best.

Don't Buy this Model – We bought this LG MS3840SRSK Microwave from Good Guys on 31 May 2013, a day before this one on 30 May 2013 we bought a another LG Model ( MS3042G), for which we were suggested it is a great Microwave at a really good price ( as it was on sale), but when we took it home it didn't work (no heating) , so we took it back to Good Guys (Cairns) and… Read more

they suggested to get a next level LG microwave (MS3840SRSK) which was bit more expensive then the last one, as previously we had a good experience with LG brand so we readily agreed to it, this microwave worked fine until 16 November 2013, which is less than 6 months, even their after sales service is useless, as it's been a week after leaving my microwave at their service center, when I didn't hear from them, I left a message no one called me back and when I called back again today, I was suggested that someone will look at it soon, as today the person who fixes it is on leave. I agree it got plenty of features, which you will hardly use, my last microwave had very few features, but it lasted for 10 years. Plenty of Features You will hardly use those extra features, waste of money

Manufacturing faults – Wife chose this make/model based on Choice magazine reviews. Feature list is good, price was right. Purchased from Good Guys Brighton whose customer service is excellent, with on-the-spot replace policy within 14 days of purchase if product is faulty. Glad we got this reassurance, as we discovered a serious manufacturing fault within 8 days of… Read more

purchase. Inside the cavity of the oven, the sides are supposed to be completely sealed at the join with the base, to avoid liquid spills intruding into the guts of the oven. Our unit had two areas of unsealed join totalling about 5 cm in length, with the gap being big enough to allow liquid to seep under the cavity wall. The retailer was great, agreed with the diagnosis quickly, inspected their shop stock and found all their display and boxed units had similar faults, and are now contacting LG. They will contact me asap to swap the unit over when new (hopefully not faulty) stock arrives.

In the meantime I phoned LG customer service to report the problem and ask their advice on what to do next. What a joke.. their customer service sucks. The wait time was so long I entered their queue for callback to my mobile phone. Several hours later (after returning from the retailer) I finally got the callback. The rep's talk was all about covering themselves if I attempted to put sticky tape over the unsealed seam so I could continue to safely use the appliance. At no stage did he think to recommend I use cling wrap to line the cavity (cling wrap is permitted even according to their own instruction book). I said to him that the priority is to consider a product recall. He quickly said that is another department and his job was just to call me back.

So, the unit is good if free from manufacturing faults. The owners manual is mostly good, with some errors eg page 7 Setting Clock. The 12 hour clock instruction needs to be inserted after Step 2.

The microwave cooks well and we didn't experience the buzzing noises others have complained about.

LG's customer service is poor. Cooks well and quickly. Check for manufacturing faults asap. LG bad customer service (Retailer excellent service)

Buzzing and defective - this is a waste of time – I bought this based on the choice magazine review. It is a complete waste of time. The first made a buzzing noise and was replaced within days of getting it home. The replacement developed some random problem after a few months and would get randomly get stuck on (the only way to get it off is to unplug the thing). It also started buzzing. … Read more

Happily the shop will now let me swap this for a different brand. I'm not touching LG microwaves with a barge pole again. Even when it did work properly - it seemed underpowered compared to my last 2 microwaves.

Buzzing noises and gets stuck on. Badly built and unreliable in my experience.

Beware poor quality microwave! – I bought this microwave to replace a 9yr old panasonic inverter-the LG lasted only 2.5weeks before breaking down. me without a microwave for at least 1-1.5 weeks (I use it everyday to sterilize baby bottles). Buzzes, some features don't work – Bought as a gift for family member in October 2012 - had to return the first one as it made a horrible loud buzzing sound. It was replaced after a couple of weeks and this one has features which don't work, i.e., defrost, reheat, etc. Very disappointed with this model; previous LG gave up after six years Liked the round cavity; that's why we bought this type Noisy, some features don't work

Very noisy – Like others, I bought this partly on the basis of Choice's recommendation, but I found it absolutely unusable. I notice one of the other reviewers had exactly the… Read more

same problem. Unbelieveably, the smaller LG that I bought a few months later had exactly the same problem - I returned that and the second one I was given was slightly better, so I kept that one - but am very disappointed in the current standard of LG microwaves - especially after my old one had been good for many years.

Makes noisy buzzing sound.

I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY MICROWAVE – We had to buy a new microwave oven the other week and decided on an LG model. It has 1100W power. The back of the cabinet is curved so items inside turn more easily and it's easier to clean too. I found it a bit noisy during use but holding my hand over the right side of the cabinet made the sound a lot quieter - I now have the appliance sitting… Read more

up against the side of the cabinetwork permanently.

Unlike my previous microwave oven, it doesn't have a separate count down timer which can be used for timing other cooking which I miss. It comes with a moisture dome which is a dish where you put a small amount of water then cover with it's plastic dome. This is used for reheating items such as pizza, rice, cake etc. I use it all the time, minus the water, when reheating most items as it saves any splatter inside the cabinet saving on cleaning.

I don't know what I ever did before the microwave oven was invented as we use ours many times a day. Easy to clean and the price was reasonable. I got a good deal but I think it was retailing for about $249 A bit noisey unless you put something against the right side of the cabinet.

Ok, however difficult to open – I bought this microwave thinking that it would be really handy, particularly with the round cavity inside. Love LG – Wonderful microwave. Warms food nicely. Much better then my old Sharp. I use this every day to warm bottles, sterilise bottles. I steam our vegetables and defrost meat all the time. I like the fact that the inside is rounded and makes it easier to clean. Display is easy to read. Comes with a bonus moisture retaining container. Great value. Warms and defrosts wonderfully
